I love Element Fitness! Been coming here for almost a year now. It feels like a miniature Lifetime Fitness to me - there's a little cafe that offers free coffee & protein shakes, 2 separate studios to do your own private workout if you want but they also offer tons of classes, the locker rooms are really nice and include showers and a dry sauna, and the main gym area has a track plus TONS of workout equipment. It is stocked full of stuff for you to be able to do so many different types of workouts! The staff is super friendly. They make you feel right at home. I love this gym! read more

My husband and I have belonged to this gym for about a year now and couldn't be happier. They have a really nice balance of weight sections, cardio machines, open spaces for HIIT workouts, and classes. The people who go to this gym make it a relaxed and positive atmosphere with individuals from lots of different walks of life. After expressing concerns to one of the owners about a safety issue, my membership was abruptly terminated and I was directed to leave immediately. My words were specific to a substitute group fitness instructor, whose class I had just attended. I stated the person was ill-prepared, reckless and unprofessional. I added that no one should teach step aerobics, etc. without proper training for the safety of the participants. Rather than acknowledging my concerns, he accused me of trying to dictate how to run his business. While arguing that he would not tolerate my criticism, he made two hurtful comments concerning my age and size. For added context, this was my first conversation with him and the first time I had ever voiced a complaint to management. The motto "go along to get along" serves people well at this gym, whereas offering constructive feedback may bruise that particular owner's ego and result in adverse action. Despite the circumstances, it is best I find a new fitness center as I have become increasingly dissatisfied. Namely, Element's group fitness room and classes are not a priority (e.g., weak sound system, inconsistent fans/thermostat, no heart-rate charts, lack of cleanliness, limited number of quality substitute instructors).  I will miss many of the members and certain excellent instructors, but overall this gym is better-suited for users of weights and equipment. read more

The new updates are Wonderful!!! Wow how did I get so lucky stumbling upon this gym! I have been a member since the new owners took over and the transformation of this place just keeps getting better! I absolutely love the new studio and equipment and the brand new sauna and locker rooms are great! I have tried other gyms but the prices were just way too high and not to mention staff at other gyms just don't care. Really love supporting this locally owned business. Pushy, they will pressure you into a contract, then lie about the services. if zero stars were an option that is what they're worth. Their trainer injured me, was flakey, I had asked for a female then they turn around and gave me a teenage boy, they lied about all of it and when I wanted to cancel they hit my credit. They will NOT let you cancel and instead continue to charge you!! And if you try to make them cancel and get reimbursed for their fault, they will give you the run around by saying you just need to email them and if you ask for the owners... what a surprise , they are NEVER there!! read more

Absolutely my favorite gym! I've tried several others and they were either way out of budget or just chaotic. This gym has such a great balance of young fit athletes, moms pregnant or postpartum, or dads working on their gains and grandparents meeting for classes. This place used to be good then a new management came along and fired all the good workers such as Tasha and Ryan. They only have bad workers now and all their renovations are terrible. A local gym that actually has a significantly amount of square footage, a bunch of machines / free weights and a great culture

I've engaged personal trainers at several different businesses over the years. I hate the cookie cutter approach to training as it is lazy and ineffective. Pam was my trainer and I really appreciated the fact that she really listened and trusted me to know what I wanted and what I am capable of. As a person "of a certain age" I have specific needs and goals and Pam was very attuned to this. I feel better than I've felt in years and I am ready to take my goals to the next level. I've been at this gym for many years and initially loved classes, as well as the friendly, family atmosphere. Angela taught several dance classes, there were multiple zumba classes, and then great teachers like Jen, Tasha, Ryan, and Judy were friendly with participants, understood the abilities of the ages they taught and encouraged people. The new owners have put a priority on strength training in the open areas, taking out the spin room and massage area for more weights while the group fitness room has a poor mix-match of weights that are falling apart and many aren't even marked so it's hard to know what the weight is. With larger classes, people are having to walk the whole gym to find enough equipment to do the workout. Then, there's the constant turnover including their latest "class scheduler" who is rarely seen, doesn't attend or evaluate classes by being well-versed in each group, and has recently, once again, changed up the schedule, firing by email solid instructors while keeping some poor replacements (nice people just not as high quality). The times classes are offered in this latest scrambled schedule have left many trying to figure out if there's anything left at the times they worked out. There's a core of people who take classes 5-7 times a week who can barely find appropriate classes now and are looking for other gyms with better options. read more

Not laid out well, entire slab isn't level, too expensive for what it is, charged me 40$ for an "upgrade fee" (do this on your own dime), owner was jackhammering the floor @ 5:00 PM one night after I worked construction all day (you have the keys do this at night) and he kept interrupting my 20 y/o girlfriend during her sets to ask about her weekend when I wasn't around which was creepy read more

Element Fitness provides a clean, spacious, welcoming gym environment. The new owners have worked so hard making improvements, and have more planned. As a mom, I am grateful for the childcare at Element Fitness. My daughter gets excited about going to Element Fitness, and doesn't want to leave when it is time for pickup. As a matter of fact, she refers to Element Fitness as "our gym." As a fitness newbie, the set up and atmosphere of Element has been a gift. It is cool & inspiring to see the range of fitness journeys going on at the same time. As a person with a chronic illness that sometimes has to use a walker, the set up at Element is a gift! I do not struggle with navigating the gym. I am still able to get to the things I need for my workout, also the track is spacious enough for me to walk on it with my walker without impeding another's use of the track. read more

I'm almost reluctant to post this review, because I wanted to keep this hidden gym to myself! The high quality instructors here are what make this gym so great. The front desk staff may not always be friendly or even acknowledge you when you come or go, but the fitness instructors always seem to be so knowledgeable and kind. I LOVE Mara and her yoga classes. Unfortunately, it can get pretty crowded in that tiny yoga studio! Sometimes there are so many mats in there that you don't have quite enough room to fully stretch out. I always wished they would have Mara's classes in the larger studio since she is so popular! Another perk of this gym is the affordable rate. I came here for over a year on a month to month $15 student membership. It was a pretty sweet deal while it lasted! I'm planning to move back to this area soon and take advantage of their monthly membership again. read more

I know the previous gym needed some refreshing but I don't care for the revamp. Yes, I am part of the older generation and the previous gym took into consideration that my needs are different then the younger generation. The larger size was able to address the needs of mixed generations. This new gym seems very generic to me and nothing special. read more

I have been going there for years. The new owners have made a lot of nice changes and exciting updates. The wide variety of options for group fitness are also still available which is what got me hooked in the first place. It is a very welcoming environment with personable, friendly staff, as well as instructors. I came in the other day and I am not impressed. I found out about Element Fitness via a flyer and decided to give them a shot, oh how TRULY disappointed I am. They charged me $15 for a guest pass, and not to mention, a $250 sign-up fee! I decided to use their free towel service and spent a majority of my first impression trying to search for a towel that was not stained. The lack of care and sanitization is apparent. Never again! I'm better off working out at Planet Fitness. read more

This is my gym and I go pretty frequently. That being said, they have ample free weights and machines to work on, treadmills for days, a few ellipticals, and a pool with enough chlorine to create mustard gas...I kid...but seriously, unless you're trying to kill every germ you've ever accumulated, avoid the pool lol. There is a private workout area back behind everything else if you want to work out in private. There's a steam room to sweat a bit out. The locker rooms and restrooms are usually pretty clean. It's a good gym for the value ($30 a month) and if you refer people, they give you a month free. It just has more to offer than a planet fitness, which is way cheaper, but 12 miles away. If you live in Lenexa within a 2-3 mile radius of 79th & Quivira; I highly recommend this gym. read more

Signing up for Element is the best money I've ever spent. Really. I've struggled with staying active and healthy my entire life, but the minute I started going to Element, it got 100% easier. The facilities are great, but I'm personally a fan of the classes. I'm at Zumba, BodyFlow and BodyJam every week, rain or shine. I wish they offered a few more times, but I love them so much I work them into my schedule. The best part about Element, hands down: The people. There's this lovely mix of really in-shape people, young people just out of college, moms coming in with their friends, and older people just trying to stay active. The front desk people greet you EVERY TIME you walk in the door, and it's really easy to make friends with the people you see each day. It's really more of a "fitness community" than a gym. This is something that I've never known I wanted in a gym until I got to Element: The "body building" section and the treadmill/elliptical section is divided by hanging mirrors, so I don't have to stare at someone who is 10 times as fit as me while I'm working out. When I occasionally go to other gyms or community centers, I find myself wishing I was at Element. And of course the week-long free trial was amazing, so I could decide whether I wanted to commit to a monthly membership. read more

Finally did my free 30 minute massage. The waiting area is quiet and peaceful. Great massage intro. The room is peaceful with soft music, a warm bed and just the right breeze from a fan. I had Nikki Yoder and was not disappointed. She did a great job, I was relaxed and she used just the right pressure. She was not chatty so I could relax and she took time before we started to find out what I wanted from the massage. read more

I love this gym! I have been a member of this gym for roughly six months. I initially joined because I had bought a Groupon and I was completely sick of my old gym. I went in expecting the standard gym experience. It is so much better. Their fitness classes are AMAZING. I take about 4-5 a week and love every one. They offer a wide variety of classes, from aerobics, to spin, to yoga even water aerobics. The gym itself is small but the equipment is never crowded and you typically can always get on a cardio machine. The staff is so friendly and so helpful. The prices are cheaper than any other gym in town AND you get two free training sessions and a free massage when you join. Love this place and so happy I left my old chain gym! read more

I've been a member of Element Fitness for about a year and a half and I can't say enough good things about it! The classes are part of the membership fee which is awesome. The staff are all awesome! I have had two sets of sessions with Joe, one of their personal trainers, and he is great! He really pushes me to do my best and I have met my personal fitness goals with his help. I see Stephanie for a massage regularly and she gives the best massages I have ever had! Its clean and there is plenty of equipment to use. I have been a member of several gyms and this is the first time I have ever really stuck with it. Element is a great gym! read more
