Since having two babies back to back, I told my husband I wanted to join a gym. It needed to have childcare so I began my search. Pricing is very reasonable for a family of four with childcare added. When you first walk in there is a huge slide that my kids absolutely love and never get bored of. Most of the childcare workers are super nice and great with my kiddos. There are two sides to childcare and one side has a gym. I wish there was an outdoor playground but that's ok! For me, I need to be bossed around to work out so I attend the classes. My favorite instructor is definitely Ashlynn, she's great. I attend Barre class, Zumba, and sometimes a circuit class. It can get very busy at times but this is a community center! They have a toddler splash and play and a toddler indoor play event Tuesdays. For a family with young kids, this is the perfect gym.

This place is superb! The swimming pool is great and there is a court where my group plays dodgeball for free! This place is newish and so clean. Birthday parties are affordable here. I think it's like $180 flat fee for about 25-30 people to swim for 2 hours. Their locker rooms and rest rooms are very clean and roomy and well. Parking is great as there are plenty to park in the garage behind the Rec center. This whole area is growing like crazy and I have nothing but good things to say about this place! Families come here in droves as well.

The equipment is spaced out so well, and there are a TON of options. I took this pic at 6:30PM on a Thursday.

Other times I do have a membership at competitors facilities for days I don't want to drive. I couldn't tell you ONE time I have walked into Life Time and not been greeted and asked how I'm doing. I've gone at 1AM multiple times after a long work shift and had great conversations and great greetings. The staff is so passionate whether it be checking people in, signing up memberships, cleaning the locker rooms and even cleaning / re-racking the gym. This specific location is always so clean, you don't see dust anywhere. I've even been curious when I get higher doing chin-ups to look over the Yoga Sign and on top of TVs and even there, spotless! Amazing. Huge basketball courts, kids facility, and rock climbing. Nonetheless I appreciate being a member here more than just the facility but always feel like I'm welcome. Kinda like a nice neighbourhood I move into, except it's consistent, clear, and clean. I may not go as often now that it's busier as I work retail and get tired after work, but I won't even cancel my membership because I know after any long day if I really need to relax or let a weight off my should I'll visit. Maybe 2020 is my physique year, 2019 wasn't. 10/10 recommend to anyone in the area looking into joining.

Customer service needs a lot of work. Do not expect that they care about member experiences.read more

You're better off not signing up and just walking in. 2. Brining guests is a complete hassle and you're charged a non refundable fee of $25 if life changes happen and you don't come with a guest that day. On several occasions I was denied guests even tho it was well before the required 24hour application to request them. On multiple occasions my requests were completely ignored and went unreported to even if they were placed 72hours in advance. I was frequently traveling to KC for work and sports only to be hassled when my wife visited from LA stating that I reached my cap for local guest passes (mind you, she lives in California full time and would visit me about once or twice a month for a weekend) 3. Steam room in women's bathroom is utterly disgusting and wasn't cleaned since I was there over a several month period, how'd I know? The dirt streaks and giant clump of hair that just remained of the floor for over 6months 4. Coming from Los Angeles and the Heimat gym where I pay $350/month, I was excited to try this gym... but this gym is clearly nothing but a wanna-be elite gym. The best part of this place is the flavored water in the women's locker room- And maybe the pools in the summer but good luck finding parking 5. Looking to bring up an issue with the staff and escalate it? Don't worry, they're happy to ignore you. Trust me, you're not gonna miss this place. Only thing it's memorable for is being complicated while trying to use its perks and over complicated. The 2 stars are for the water and the equipment. The cleaning staff is super nice tho!

However, it can get busy there and the hot tub chlorine does sting my eyes a bit. There is also a steam and dry sauna there (both men and women in there). Parking is also difficult to find close by with how many people go there now. The women's locker room was nice, but honestly I expected the showers to be nicer and more modern. We stopped by the cafe on the way out. I tried the grilled cheese and tomato soup. The grilled cheese had apples in it and had good flavor. However, the tomato soup just tasted like thick, sour, tomato paste. It was not creamy like typical tomato soup.

This has been my favorite and I specifically love this location as well. I started out coming to the Lenexa location because of my sister, and I pass a couple other OTs to come here. I have stuck with a Lenexa due to the coaches and "vibe" here. I recently upped my membership and class frequency because I genuinely enjoy coming here! I get so much more out of each session and push myself harder than I would just on my own. It definitely gets my vote!

My first "Trial" class was pretty good. The instructor made sure I knew what I was doing, checked in with me throughout the class, and the heart rate monitor worked as it should. That didn't make it past that class. As my monitor didn't even register my name on the monitor, the instructor walked by several times as I sat there obviously not doing anything. Did she stop and check on what was wrong? Heck no. I had to go to the front desk three times to try to get it working. Now remember you must have the monitor to work out. So i sat there missing the first ten minutes of class. And having to get up and walking out of the training room repeatedly was embarrassing. And yet this "instructor " never did a damn thing. Of course the front desk didn't come into the room to see what the issue was. They just kept telling me it was fixed.. So I had to leave. Then I got an email later on with my progress report. WTF? I obviously didn't work out so what progress were you reporting on? At least I got an email from my sales rep trying to make it right. Got a phone call two mornings later from the Head "Coach" "extending a warm welcome". Like you had no clue what happened the class before? I was just another name on a list she finally got around to calling and feeding me a pre-scripted pitch. Then i got an email from the manager. If it wasn't for that email I would have quit right then . She promised to make sure everything ran smoothly the next week. Spoiler Alert? Yeah you know it didn't. My first issue was the website. I'd log in go to schedule my class and it would try to schedule a location 400 miles away. So I had to call in to book. Frustrating. I got there early to make sure they could double check the equipment. Noone made sure my monitor was working properly. What I did get was a babysitter who tried to tell me I was holding the row machine handles too tight. Once again WTF? If I can make this stupid monitor inoperable my squeezing my hands too hard then something is wrong with your equipment No matter how hard I rowed couldn't get above 34%(58 bpm) which is below a good resting heart rate(60 bpm) And since I've only recently quit smoking my resting beart rate is 80 bpm. Which means if I just sit there my monitor should register about 46%. But my babysitter convinced me it'll get better. Lol yeah. It should work from the beginning not 50, 80, 90% of the time. At the end of class I gave the front desk back the monitor. Of course I had to wait for someone to get to the desk. And of course she tried to convince me that she saw it working. Um no you didn't. Even my babysitter saw that it didn't work properly. And now it's been a whole week and I have not received another email from the manager or call from the "Head Coach". And I have yet to see a refund, which means I need to deal with them Monday or my bank to start a back charge. Both frustrating.
