Five stars for the property inside and out, as well as the amenities. I don't think anyone can argue with that. The equipment is plentiful and top notch also, and they do a great job keeping the space and grounds clean and well maintained. Whereas they have pretty much everything to offer a member, it was just too big for me. I don't need everything. Yes, you don't have to partake in the stuff you don't want too, but as big as it is, it can be quite busy at times and overwhelming. I wasn't a fan of the process to become a member. I think it can be a lot simpler. It did take a few calls when I didn't want to renew my membership, and unless you opt out of their emails, you can expect one or two pretty much daily. It's probably perfect for a lot of people, but it just wasn't for me personally. read more

Do not leave your child here!!! The gym is 5 stars and so is Phillip (personal trainer) but the childcare is horrible!!!! I was a member for just over a month and in that I'm my kid came home with a bad rugburn on his face and a crayon in his nose- which no one noticed. If you don't have a kid this place is great, but unfortunately my kid comes first and I would NEVER recommend this places to someone which children. read more

After 7 years with this gym, I fell on financial hardship in October and requested to cancel my membership indefinitely until I could afford the $75/mo again. So far I have requested this cancellation in person TWICE, signed a document while in person at the gym, had multiple email and phone conversations with account Representatives and finally mailed in a formal request to cancel after 2 months of them harassing me, saying I now had to jump through a new hoop to complete the cancellation. After more than 60 days of this, they now decided to auto debit an additional $75 from my checking account without my authorization! The group fitness instructors at this gym are amazing, but their customer service/support team is A NIGHTMARE and are scam artists. read more

I used to be a member here and I liked the facility for the most part. When I recently called to rejoin the gym, I was told that I would have to pay a joining fee (even though I had already been a member once and the first time I didn't have to pay a joining fee), and the rate was almost $70/month for just me. The price itself is steep but my issue is with the person I spoke with- not so much the cost. I was speaking to someone named Matt... He was somewhat insulting and for a customer service position, it was really unacceptable. For that much money, I expect to join somewhere I feel valued. This company gets two things right: Running very nice gyms, and parting you with money. I'm not talking about the membership fees, which are higher than most places because this really is a premium gym. It's spacious; always clean; and well equipped. You've got sauna, steam room, and big hot tubs, none of which are ever crowded. It's tastefully designed, and everything is new. The child care is good. The climbing wall is great, and the staff who run it are helpful, skilled, and enthusiastic. Classes and instructors are great. Where it gets pricey is the upsell. They're always trying to sell you something, and that starts the moment you walk in for your free trial visit. Be very aware the person who greets you and shows you around is a sales person, and they will tell you whatever you want to hear in order to get you to sign that day. We had quite a number of promises made to us that never materialized once we signed on -- free passes for the kids, free classes. The guy who made all those promises? Gone, two weeks later. The turnover rate among the sales people seems high, so buyer beware -- double check anything they promise you. Also, watch out if you want to leave: Do it well in advance. When you sign a contract, you also sign some legal gobbledygook about "billing cycles" that essentially mean they will change you for a whole month after you ask to end your membership. Legal? Yes, I signed the contract. It sure leaves me with a bad taste in my mouth, though. The other complaints I have are, as someone else mentioned, the free weight area reeks like an elephant-seal breeding beach, and -- this is a big one for me -- it's really, badly crowded unless you go at off times. If it weren't for that, I'd probably have stuck around, but especially over New Year's it got really bad. You'll always be waiting for a bench or a cage unless you go after 8 pm. You want a stair machine or treadmill, take your pick, day or night. But the weights area? It's a beehive. A stanky one, at that. So, if you don't mind the upsell or have plenty of disposable income, and you are not particularly into the weights, then this is a premium gym. If you are reasonably serious about lifting, this might not be for you. read more

Tons of classes that are well run with employees who really know their stuff. The yoga is the best I've been a part of. The welcome session is more of an ad for the trainers. The place is very clean except the child care center will get your kids sick constantly. The "sick policy" isn't enforced as evidenced by how sick some of the other children were when we dropped them off and then our kids getting sick a couple days later with the same symptoms. We had problems with the free lessons in aquatics but it was finally fixed after numerous phone calls. We did cancel our membership for the kids but my husband is still going because he just loves the classes but I will not be taking my kids back there due us basically being sick 2 months from the center and the infant hours. The infant hours (closed m-f 12-4) and they open and close the infant hours earlier than when the classes I want to take. Overall if you have the $ and don't have kids it's a nice gym and worth going to. read more

Ok, 6 months ago when my wife and I started it was great, pricey but great. Now they have an open house every other week it is packed and after having to rub rumps with folks just to get in and out of the locker room we've had it. It is over subscribed and the management doesn't care and is to young to do the job. If you like treadmills you are set because that's what's open. Additionally, the showers are now a funky mess and the towels half of which have dirt tracks on them are getting old and threadbare. Put some money back into the joint and take better care of your existing members and turn down the prospecting and the constant push by your personal trainers to book hours. The gym is really nice. It's clean and has something for everyone. However the management team is out to get your money. They charge you an additional month to cancel your membership, which for 2 people is 130$. Why a gym needs a 30 day notice is beyond me. I'll start with pros: the facility is beautiful, a lot of equipment, kid friendly, the pools are nice and also very kid friendly. They do extra free activities with the kids, they have a free zumbatonic class for kids, they do the rock wall, play games, etc. They are very honest, up front with how their membership works....it's no contract, but you pretty much have to give 60 day notice to quit. Cons: when you get upstairs to work out there is an awful smell...and it's not the people. They are always packed....the last time I worked out there it took me 15 minutes just to find a place to park and its a huge parking lot. The staff is rude and once you sign up you're just money to them. I had a massage, which was the worst massage I've ever had. They push you hard core to purchase PT sessions, which is extremely annoying as I was there to better myself, not see how much $$ I could spend. I did a PT session and they only do enough to make you need them again....at $80 a pop, on top of the $140 dues for 2 adults/2 kids. Overall I felt extremely uncomfortable there and got discouraged. I ended up canceling my membership within 14 days of the trial period and got all my money back. I joined Healthridge instead....I have pros and cons about that facility too, but overall am very pleased and LOVE it! read more

This LT is as nice as it gets, it reminds me of a gym disguised as a spa. It is very clean and has so many amenities: salon, cafe, pools, hot tubs, sauna, steam room, children's center, basketball courts, climbing wall. There are many different free classes that are held every day and others that you can pay additional for. So, although LT may be a bit pricey, it is certainly well worth it. read more

I have been a member for almost a year, and love it! This gym may appear large and intimidating, but I have felt very welcomed here. Lifetime has everything you could ever need. There is such a wide variety of classes to take, I love that I am able to vary my workouts with ease! The gym is beautiful, and the locker rooms, pools, and sauna are always clean. All of the staff are courteous and helpful. All of the group fitness instructors are helpful, friendly, and fun! This gym strives to be inclusive to everyone, regardless of ability. I just joined a few weeks ago and loving it so far. The only reason I can't give a 5 star rating is because of the price. This is by far the most I've ever paid to workout, but I'm really hoping to meet more people that are as serious about health and fitness as I am. I'm also looking forward to the pool this summer! I signed up ~7 months ago. I was quoted by 'Cecelia' the day I signed up at $45 + tax. This seemed steep, but the gym seemed nice so I went along with it. Doing some budgeting today and I find out that I have been charged $74 per month. The manager told me nobody ever gets a rate that low, and made no offers to fix this issue. A friend of mine who signed up 5 days after I did is currently paying $35+tax. Additionally, the only reason I signed up to use this place are the squat racks. They, for some inexplicable reason, smell like horrible garbage at all times. read more

I recently joined and got my first trainer in my life - so far it is going great - Brandon Vermeire is the trainer, personalizes to my goals, and makes it fun. So far, VERY impressed. $75 a month more for two toddlers!!! I know this place has great amenities but toddlers can't do much more than play with climbing toys and roll around on the floor (in your case gym mats). They are not going to be on the climbing wall and would probably appreciated the pool in the limited time I left after my work out. I think this place is little out of touch in their pricing for toddlers. Maybe I will reconsider when the kids get a little older and can actually use some of the facilities. read more

I received a 7 day pass (like the one that is offered on this page for Yelpers) and brought it in. It clearly said a 7 day pass to try for free. I brought it in, and as the Saleslady gave me her pitch, she told me "We don't really do a 7 day pass because of the holidays" That's odd, because the pass was only available from January 1 to January 14. So when exactly are you supposed to redeem this pass? She offered me a chance to work out for that day, and come back one more time for a class. She then gave me a tour of the gym and told me the prices. Honestly, I was so put off by the fact that she wouldn't honor my pass, it was hard to even care what she was talking about. If you offer me a pass and won't even make good on it, how am I supposed to trust that you'll make good on any other offer you give with your package? She's offering me lifetime bucks with a membership and this and that and all I can think is, "yeah right". I talked to my friend who referred me there, and he said that he thought they would always honor such a deal. I don't know, but I really thought it was bull crap. I worked out, the facility was nice, every amenity possible, (including botox, lol). I had gone in very seriously considering a membership as I had some Christmas money burning a hole in my pocket... but after that? I don't think so. read more

Always clean and well maintained. Cycle bikes were awful but recently replaced with new ones. Last week we went to get into the hot tub (two available) and both were closed. We were told at signing that one would always be open. One still had the fountain flowing. We asked a lady and she wasn't sure so she went to ask someone. She came back and told us that one of the two was okay. 15 minutes later a bearded guy came up and said, "You can't be in here, you need to get out. I'm from corporate and you need to get out!" My friend told him that we were told it was fine. He was heavily insinuating that we just took it upon ourselves to get in. He said "who said it was okay? I'm going to go see her right now!" By the way, I haven't seen her around until recently so, I believe she is new. Just because he was from corporate doesn't give him the right to be a Pompous ass! It gives him the obligation to be professional! Other than that, even when it is busy; it is never crowded. The classes are good. Locker rooms are kept clean. Have seen multiple staff clean machines by rows. Facility on a whole has always appeared clean. Yes, more expensive than other fitness centers but if you are actually going to come regularly it is worth it. If not, save your money. Recommend joining. read more

I've been a member of Lifetime since they opened in 2010 and love it. I've read some of the reviews and have never had any of these problems. Through my insurance, they give me a $20 credit each month if I work out 12 times, so that's definitely a plus for me and motivates me to get my butt to the gym. The classes are great! My daughter has been going to the day care since she was 3 months old (she's 4 now) and has always loved it. If I ever have a question or problem I go to Damien and he always takes care of me. Member for 6 years, enjoyed the club until today. After inquiring about why policies have changed to be less family friendly related to climbing wall and gym for little kids, told by the facility manager: "We are no longer a publicly held company, we do not have to answer to anyone", "I have worked here for 15 years and I will run my gym the way I want to", "I will not evaluate policy (btw...that has not been enforced for six years until today) based upon a member and their desires". Wow. Amazing lack of customer service and arrogance. It seems as if leadership has a view that they do not need members, interesting business strategy, not to mention the move that seems to have them disregarding the family member with young kids and the thought that some may actually like to play with their kids and enjoy those youngsters vs. herding them into their child care center. Would really suggest those considering the facility ask tough questions if they are a family, and those at Life Time Fitness Corporate consider investing in some basic customer service training for this facility. read more

Honestly, enjoy the gym. However, had a really unprofessional encounter that occurred that lead me to cancel my membership.

I went up to the salon and spa as a guest. I was not impressed. I went in to get a feather hair extension only to find out they had a very limited selection. The feathers left were either way too big or too tiny. So I chose a bigger one. They put in the extension wrong and it was sticking up out of my head. The stylist who was very nice about it told me if I just straighten it, it will go down. And so I went home and did. It would not go down though! So I called them to reschedule and appointment to either fix it or get a refund. I drove 20 minutes away two days later for them to tell that I couldn't get a refund or I had to get a little feather. (The little ones don't stand up as much but you can't see it at all) I just went ahead and had them take it out. I did everything I could to get the 12 dollars I spent on this stupid feather. They were very rude about it and would not give it to me. I thought customers come first? I gave them 2 stars because the stylist was very nice but the secretaries had terrible customer service read more

I have been a member of the lenexa lifetime fitness since it opened. Shortly after that I started paying extra to attend pilates reformer classes and they were well worth it. what a great work out pilates reformer is. HOWEVER, since July 2014 this lifetime location has had a broken pilates program. They do not have the trained staff to support this program at this location. So if you are joining for pilates, you need to pick another fitness club. read more

Joined LTF in Lenexa. The membership is a little expensive, but our health insurance offered a monthly discount for this particular gym. However, when we took the documents from the insurance company to LTF, they had no clue what to do or how to help. According to our health insurance co, they have a contract in place and connecting the membership to our policy for the discount is a snap, IF you know what to do. SO, we are waiting for someone to figure this out. Also, be forewarned. The personal training fees are out the roof!!!! $ 109.00 PER SESSION and NO PACKAGE DISCOUNT!!!! WOWSA, what planet are they from???? We will use the gym and facilities as they are nice and appear relatively clean. read more

I would give this place negative stars if that was possible. The manager Eric Blick is one of the most incompetent person I've ever come across. I got a call from him one day falsely accusing me of harassing one of his employees. When I tried to explain my side of the story he simply wouldn't listen. He dismissed me stating 'that's just what you are saying' and 'I can't accept this kind of a behavior.' When I visited the club that day I was told I wasn't allowed to enter which was utterly humiliating and not something I had expected. Before I knew it, I was embroiled in a court case but had the resources to fight it and win the case. This goes to show the level of man management skill this imbecile possesses. Anyway I would say that most of the staff at this location is rude and self conceited. A lot of them act as if they own the damn place and the customer is totally irrelevant. Lifetime Fitness is a top notch facility with all the amenities. It's too bad the employees are not. I've been a member for four years, and not ONE employee has talked to me since I joined. Unless you have your credit card out no one cares about your experience as a member. Recently I brought a family member to the gym as a guest to show them around, but he was treated so rudely I was embarressed to be a member. He was forced to go through the gamit and high pressured to buy a membership like he was at a used car lot. When I mentioned to the "Salesman" I didn't appreciate how he was being treated I was told I "could just leave." So that's the kind of mentality this place has for someone that has paid membership dues for over 4 years. As beautiful as this gym is you would think corporate would hire and train a staff that would have some type of customer skills, because this place has absolutely ZERO! read more
