I'm happy to say, the field is in good shape and Loyola Park is a great place to watch a ballgame. If you're wanting an up close view, there's a small grandstand of bleachers directly behind home plate, in between the dugouts. I like sitting on the hill that begins behind home plate and flows down the line behind the first base dugout. Judging by my fellow fans, it's a pretty popular space. Feel free to bring your own fold out chair or blanket. You can see most of the field and you're also close enough to hear the infield chatter. A small concession stand is available. Bathrooms are located underneath the grand stands. The playing field is natural grass and dirt with mostly symmetrical outfield dimensions.

They also partner with youth teams at almost every age group. The staff includes current and former professional players who help with every aspect of the game, physical and mental. There are specialty facilities and coaching for pitching, hitting, catching, and fielding. They also offer an excellent conditioning program! A really nice perk of membership is discounted baseball equipment on the best names in the game. You get to visit twice on the pogo pass, but each time you get 10 credits, each for 15 pitches. So you can hit the ball 150 times each time. For a newbie, I felt like that was a lot! Because there were a lot of kids participating today, we had about 20 minute wait times between turns (you can only use 2 credits at a time before rotating out). It would be way better when it's less busy. They do have bats and helmets to use. And just know: you have to clean up your own balls at the completion of your turn, and reload the pitching machines accordingly. Wasn't hard though! What a great option for a rainy or super hot day!

With my kiddo in grad school in the Midwest, Kauffman Stadium was logistically our stadium of choice this summer. I'm glad we did because we loved this stadium. Baseball and football are KC's biggest professional sports and both their stadiums sit right next to each other eastern part of the city. It is right off the highway and hard to miss with it's large crown facing the highway. I will say that the general area of the stadium is pretty boring with not much to do except come to the stadium. Parking is plentiful and it does come with a cost. Pay ahead of time to save time. The stadium is in it's 54th season but doesn't have an old feel to it. It actually had a very open feel to it with a large concourse that made walk around easy without being shoulder to shoulder. Hard to miss much of the game walking around as the stadium if very open with views from every angle. Tours are available which I usually do but didn't have time this time around. I like to always come when gates open to really explore the stadium before the game starts. The day I went, they had a t-shirt giveaway which I gladly took to add to my collection. I've been to stadiums where there isn't much to see other than the game itself. Here, there is alot to see. One of the coolest features is the hard to miss water feature which is one of the largest privately funded fountains in the world. They also have this tall video board which happens to be the tallest LED video display in baseball. There is a Hall of Fame museum in the stadium where you can walk in and see the history of the team complete with lots of memorabilia. This park is very family friendly too. They have the Outfield Experience where they have things like mini golf, pitching mounds, batting challenges, playgrounds and even a carousel. Another thing I judge a park by is there dining options. I like a park that embraces the area and features food you can't get at other stadiums. One thing KC is known for is BBQ and they showcase that with the famous Joe's KC BBQ on premises. I dined at the actual restaurant the day before but had to come get the famous Z-Man Sandwich to finish my culinary adventures in the city. They also have other unique offerings along with your usual baseball park staples. They also don't charge an arm and a leg food or merch which made my wallet extra happy. They have value menus at certain concession stands where you can get items for 5 bucks or less. I explored every corner of this stadium and I can say, it's one of my favorite stadiums to date. I highly recommend making this a stop if you are exploring stadiums like myself.

And of course, a frozen margarita because I always have to have one! The K has come a long way. The food and drink offerings are diverse and truly representative of what KC has to offer. Whether you're there for the game, the food, or the experience, there's something for everyone. The crowd had great energy -- not full capacity but very much alive! At one point a trend started with guys in a section rallying the crowd and taking off their shirts, and watching it grow from just a couple of guys to an entire section was hilarious and fun. Our friend got her moment on the birthday cam -- and the Fireworks Show after? Always a big hit and highly recommend staying for it! If you're a family of 4, look into the Sunday 4-Pack -- 4 tickets, 4 hot dogs, 4 sodas, and parking for under $150. A great bargain and a great time.

When it first arrived, I honestly thought it had suffered some "shrinkage"--I definitely didn't ask for a short pour! That said, it was incredibly tasty and packed a surprisingly powerful punch. The food, however, wasn't quite worth a photo. I ordered the jalapeño burger with ghost pepper sauce. Unfortunately, the patty tasted like it came straight out of a grocery store freezer, and the ghost pepper sauce was completely transparent in the spice department. On the bright side, the accompanying waffle fries were decent. Before we left, our waitress highly recommended trying the beer brat next time, so that will likely be my go-to on the next visit. Great spot for drinks and games, just order strategically on the menu!

You can also bring your own bat to hit with. We didn't find the food to be anything to write home about but they do have $5 cans of domestic beers, which is a nice touch. There are big screens everywhere broadcasting ballgames, as well. This is a great venue for a birthday or a watch party and we intend to be regulars!
