You don't have to…read morejoin the classes, but the problem is when the classes take up all the usable space and members are left with little to none. For example, youth swim lessons and water aerobics take up the entire pool area on Saturdays, making it impossible if you would like to swim laps. "Alpha" fitness classes have two areas that take up a significant portion of the upstairs gym, and they run classes constantly. On top of all this, the equipment that is left for members to use (i.e. benches and machines) are old and falling apart. I personally had a pin slip from an adjustable bench when I had it set to incline for bench press. I fell back with it and chipped my tooth. For the money you pay and for the money they add for extra classes and "events", they should really have better stuff for the general membership. It presents as though little regard is given to the overall members.

I expected discretion and proper follow-up. After reporting, I became aware of information that made me question whether confidentiality was maintained. Management attempted to discuss my complaint in public areas in front of another client rather than privately. I was passed between multiple local and corporate staff members with no clear point of contact or consistent updates. I paused my membership on December 24, 2025 and requested cancellation on February 4, 2026. After no response, I submitted a second request and ultimately canceled on February 10. Between my pause on 12/24 and my request on 2/4, I received no follow up. Between my request on 2/4 and cancellation on 2/10, a front desk employee who was unaware of the situation called to encourage me to return. I attempted to schedule an in-person discussion multiple times, but my request was not addressed. This experience caused ongoing stress and has led me to doubt Life Time's care for their members. Bottom line: Don't trust that you're valued as a member or that your voice matters.

All of your machines are in one place, all of your cardio equipment is in another. It's never packed with people, and it's clean. This gym has seen me through 10 years of competitions, bulking phases, early morning cardio, and later nights. However, management is piss poor. There has been a handful of times in the past month where someone forgets to open their doors on time. I'll sit in the parking lot for nearly an hour until they do open. They're not consistent and unreliable. Hours for the facility have changed time and time again. It used to be a 24 hr gym, and now they close at 6p on the weekends.

I've been 2 maybe 6 different locations and the one one on Santa Fe by menards had mold all over the place. But their payment methods online is some of the worst p.o.s.(point of sale) ever. Not to mention the time I took my daughter's friends with us to swim and my girl myself and my 2 daughters walk in no big deal but her 2 Hispanic friends get stopped even though they was clearly walking with us as a group. I was so pissed off with the clear racist bullshit that was our last day there. Oh I'm a white not like it's fucking relevant.

I'd say the best medium to large size gym in Olathe is Genesis Health Club. It's located in a safe…read morepart of town and easy to access. The staff are extremely friendly and I've never had an issue while being a patron. I will go on record there will be busy times and off times, and most of my review comes from the perspective of a 5am gym rat. The experience during peak times like 5-7pm will be substantially different. That said, Gensis has a fair amount of equipment to keep everyone happy if you don't mind working in. First off, the showers are plentiful and well stocked with towels but the pathway to the indoor pool is a bit sketchy in that you pass in view of the front door. I've never had to wait on a shower, typically between 5-7am. As for swimming laps in the winter, one might need to tailer their swim routine as people like me who can swim roughly 100 laps and then there's the elderly swim classes. The point is there are limitations. When spring-fall happens it's a bit easier b/c the outdoor pool offers more lanes. Also, the outdoor pool is great for kids who are just starting to swim. Not only do they have a slide but a gradual slope into the water allows kids to wade slowly, perfect for a teaching moment. Next, I've never tried the café so I can't speak on prices, options or anything. As far as BB courts I workout really early in the morning so I can usually shoot alone but afternoons, you'll be waiting to get on the floor. I've never been to a class for things like aerobics, yoga or anything but I have had a trainer. My trainer was a former Mr Midwest champ at light heavyweight, or something along those lines but I honestly think I was bamboozled a bit. In my ignorance I was expecting 3 or 4 sessions a week, a meal plan and several different workout options based on my desired goals. What I got was a body fat measurement via a tape measure and scale along with a musclebound dude to spot me for 3 months. No meal plan, no spreadsheet with workouts that fit me. I mean he fulfilled the spirit of the contract besides not giving me a meal plan other than "eat some berries and tuna", but not what we initially discussed. Now, I will say the greatest thing I learned was foam rolling my muscles. I will admit, I wrestled in high school and college and I've always been fit therefore I know how to workout and diet. So, for many others, they may need a little more education so be sure to emphasize that in the contract. As for workout equipment, they have plenty of stair masters, nautilus machines, free weights, treadmills and so forth to accommodate a lot of people. I think out of my 4 years there I only had an issue with someone reading a newspaper on a butterfly machine and I was doing cardio line training so I didn't want my heart rate to slow down while he was reading. Other than that, it's been very good. What I really like it the indoor track upstairs. This offers a good alternative to the treadmill and good to burn off some calories, but watch out for those people doing squat thrusts in the slow lane! In summary, I never used all the amenities offered but there are a lot. I only wanted to reference what I've taken advantage of at Genesis. I was happy with my stay there and encourage anyone who wants to improve their health to drop on by and get a free trial membership. Two thumbs almost straight up!

Everything is new and improved, and the staff is friendly and helpful. They interact with members better than any of the gyms around here. They also listen and make improvements as they go, which is pretty darn intuitive. And speaking of intuition, I happen to be hearing impaired and years ago, when I was signing my contract, they were very helpful by taking it slow, which I very much appreciated. The equipment is all brand new, so it should be great for many years to come. The pool, sauna, steam room, jacuzzi, and free weight areas are all top drawer. All in all, a great gym

It's located in a safe part of town and with easy to access parking. The staff are extremely friendly and I've never had an issue while being a patron. I will go on record there will be busy times and off times, and most of my review comes from the perspective of a 5am gym rat. The experience during peak times like 5-7pm will be substantially different. First off, the showers are plentiful and well stocked with towels. I've never had to wait on a shower, typically between 5-7am. I really like having options like a BB court and pool but there again not everyone can be the Goliath in the room. That means laps, water aerobics, teaching kids to swim or dribble a BB will have to be elsewhere. For me that's a deal breaker. I've never been to a class for things like aerobics, yoga or anything like that rather I go in and have my routines at 5am. I mainly stick to the Stairmaster, treadmill and weights (free and nautilus). As for workout equipment, they have plenty of stair masters, nautilus machines, free weights, treadmills and so forth to accommodate a lot of people in off hours. However, during peak hours weights become more of an issue and people will generally have to work-in sets. What I really like it the indoor track upstairs. This offers a good alternative to the treadmill and good to burn off some calories, but watch out for those people doing squat thrusts in the slow lane! In summary, while I never used all the amenities some of the items I need aren't available. I highly advise getting a trial membership to see if the gym is a good fit for your workout. For the most part the place is clean but I have seen it a bit messy but that's not the norm. I thought the place was ok, just not enough of what I wanted, which other options did have and it's why I left. Two thumbs sideways.

Sauna and whirlpools are often out of order. Some toilets don't flush (even for simple purposes). The cafe is not open often, even during the posted open hours. Buttressed up against City Hall and the newest JoCo library branch, the Rec Center offers year-round enjoyment. Besides the opportunity for personal fitness, exercise classes, or just free play, the Rec Center offers a community space with loads of classes for all ages. You could even request to host parties or small events here, with staff at the ready to help you during your event. The indoor pool is a real draw, open year-round, save for maintenance windows. There are two indoor slides (the longest in the state), a 25M swim lane area, diving well, and a lazy river. The shallows are ultra-kid friendly, wading to low depths with sprinkles and splashes to boot! You can even find your way to the warm water wellness pool, kept at 90° and perfect for therapeutic relaxation. I'm spoiled because this spot is in my neighborhood, though you don't have to be a Lenexa resident to join. There are other places very similar scattered about town, but for the price, the value FAR exceeds the expectation. Covered parking, food amenities next door, shopping, and more are within steps. Come try Lenexa; I promise you'll love it.
