This place is perfect for drunken, late-night munchies. I get the gyro with brown people spicy and it's really tasty. The hot sauce has a nice kick to it and is very flavorful. My only qualm is the size is pretty small for $7 a pop so I can't give this place 5-stars. I grew up in Qatar and shawarma ranks on top of my Middle Eastern cuisine favorites. But sigh! I never could find an authentic shawarma place in Austin though there are plenty of gyro places. Just FYI, Gyros are Greek in origin while Shawarma is Middle Eastern in origin and they do taste very different (at least to my palate). But last week at the Trail of Lights I ran into this food truck - Shawarma Point and finally my shawarma prayer was answered. I ordered chicken shawarma wrap (brown people spicy) and thoroughly enjoyed it. The chicken was juicy and well-seasoned and the shawarma was loaded with plenty of veggies. All in all the shawarma was lip smacking and I would highly recommend it. read more

Sorry but no. I grew up in a gyro country and I was quite disappointed. The sauce is an insult to the gyro. The amount of meat in a $10 plate is sad. It's rather bland too. "White people spicy" is not hot at all so you don't need to be overly cautious. Go for the brown people spicy. read more

This is the best place to get shawarma if you're hungry. Best customer service, great food, and entertaining spice meter. I got the chicken shawarma wrap. Literally doesn't take that long, took 6 mins to get my wrap. The chicken is very well marinated, oh and the white sauce which is similar to tzatziki sauce, but they made it better. I've been to that place every week when I'm around that area. Oh and it's not pricey. 6-7 bucks for a wrap, that's perfect. The spice meter is hilarious:white people spicy, brown people spicy. Haha unless your major fan of spicy I would recommend the white people spicy because the white sauce would balance out the spice,so it's not spicy. read more

We went on a relatively calm Thursday night at around 1 a.m because we heard so much about this place. Safe to say it's way too overrated. The service was grossly slow for a food truck. I ordered a chicken plate and not only did it take over 20 minutes to get, but it was cold. The server was very calm given the number of people who were slurring over their words and were clearly intoxicated. I would recommend you to try it since the food was delicious, but be prepared to be waiting a long while with bare minimum seating arrangements. read more

Despite what other positive reviews say this place is gross! I paid $13 for a gyro and hummus (for some reason they were out of fries on a Very slow Tuesday night) and the meat was very salty. I woke up at 6 am this morning with stabbing pains in my stomach and nausea. Whatever this guy fed me is making me shit watery smelly diarrhea. Awful will never eat it again :( Also i wanted to add he suddenly and abruptly closed as soon as more customers came up to order food after we had just got ours. I felt bad because these people were excited to see a schwarma truck and he straight up said sorry guys I'm closing be back in 30 mins. good for them they were spared the food poisoning! read more

I had a lamb gyro wrap. Super yummy. Would def walk a bit to eat here again. Only think i wanted was a plate. I know a wrap is kinda portable food. But, the thing, despite my best efforts, was messy and falling all over the place. If it fell on my pile of napkins, great , i could eat that. Great service, nice guys, good timing & location. Gross, almost inedible food that could be awesome with very little work. You guys should consider tasting your food before you serve it - you're outrageously waaaaay too salty on everything, so much that one can't taste the protein/sauce/veg or anything other than salt. Just salt. I have never tasted saltier food in my life, 3 times in a row, at your trailer. I work in a kitchen - I drink, I smoke and I love hardcore cured and/or dangerously salty foods. You guys are out of balance and control, like the Kool-Aid man crashed thru the wall but poured Morton's everywhere that folks expect tropical punch. You offer seasoning choices and condiments in the window to be added after your food is delivered - please consider allowing your clients to choose their salt and spice levels for themselves? Given your location and friendliness it would be super easy for you to get it right, I really hope you succeed.. read more

Ordered mild, got them doused in Sriracha... Not what I wanted but I like sriracha fine... but from what I could taste under the sriracaha, the chicken schwarma was uninspired, mediochre, meh.. The cold ingredients were fresh and flavorful, the pita was excellent, but the chicken was nigh flavorless, and there was none of the sauce that makes a schwarma so delightful. It was just a chicken pita with sriracha all over it. If you want schwarma, head over to Phoenecia, they are way way way better (unless you just want spicy, then this place is probably fine, you will not be able to taste the rest anyway.) Service was fine, friendly and not obnoxiously slow, but not terribly fast (and the order was wrong, so don't buy food for kids here, there the spice error would be horrible as opposed to mildly disaapointing) read more

Service was horrible. This place is doing its best to rip off Austinites and SXSW attendees. The owner/manage(thin guy with nose ring) told us they take the SXSW food vouchers for volunteers. Then once we received the food ran a scam to take our money by saying he didn't "recall" saying that. Horrible management and customer service. Every vendor is not cut out for events in Austin or just simple/basic customer service. Going back to kebabiliscious! And the food was marginal. Not worth the headache! read more

I had been looking for falafel for a while and, BAM, at the Trail of Lights was Schwarma Point! So I went over and ordered, looking forward to the heat on a chilly night. I got falafel with a mixture of white people and brown people spiciness(look at the pictures, you'll get it). And waited. Others came, ordered and left. So I went up to check. People get forgotten, I get it. Then I got my $9.29 falafel in a pita, and I was offered free fries as wait compensation, which was nice (didn't take them). What a disappointment. The entire thing was room temp and the falafel looked like I had gotten miscellaneous flat scrapings from some leftover pan, and not much of it. I took two bites and tossed it. The spiciness was great, but instead of a hot meal with balls of falafel on a pita dressed nicely, I got screwed out of almost $10. I had no chance to go back, family was already on the move. Hands down, the best place in Austin to get your Mediterranean fix. If it ain't here, I don't want it! They have all kinds of choices, including vegetarian options as well. Huge wraps filled with either chicken or beef and lamb, vegetables and their amazing sauces. You can even do the same thing in a bowl of rice, how's that for appealing to different crowds? Way below average, but edible. I ordered a beef and lamb plate from them tonight since I was feeling lazy and they're on Uber Eats. Portion was smaller than comparable Halal trucks, and the food overall was pretty bad. Both the rice and beef were really under seasoned, and I couldn't taste the lamb; I think it was missing. Beef kinda reminded me of when my mom would make hamburger helper, and not in a nostalgic way. Hummus tasted like the store bought kind that only tastes like tons of garlic. Also something is really weird about the sauces, the white sauce straight up tastes like low fat sour cream. The kind you get in a squeeze tube from Taco Bell or something. Red sauce isn't nearly as spicy as I'd like and I'm almost positive it's sriracha with some red pepper flakes from a pizza joint thrown in. I know that sounds like I'm being cute, but I'm serious. Only thing that wasn't weird was the pita, but it's pita. Pretty hard to screw up. I'm sure it's passable drunk food but I wouldn't eat there again. If you're looking for a Halal fix, try out Halal Time. (Or Halal Corner if it's closed.) read more

A group of about 6-8 of us stopped by for some eats the other night and could not get over how delicious the food was!! We all went back for seconds, and all the orders were done exactly as requested. All of the spice levels were perfect and delicious. I was VERY impressed with the food and service, especially for such a big crowd being there that night. It was my first time there. When i finally found this review page as i was searching for a website for their food truck, i did not hesitate to purchase the coupon. And doing so also prompted to me to join yelp and write this, my first review. I have never had "shawarma" and didn't even know what it was. There were a few others in our group who had had it many times, and highly recommended that we eat there, as well. Can't wait to go back for more....hope they can open a few more trucks and even be available for lunch! :D read more

I wouldn't call myself a shawrma connoisseur but I have tasted shawarma at many places in my days and I have to say that this shawrma point has been the best shawrma I've had since my missionary retreat in Iran. I love places like this where the employees treat you like family, like olive garden. But it's nothing like Olive garden, in fact Olive garden does not taste this good. I go to this place almost every time I am downtown. Behind my heroine addiction, this is the second strongest addiction I have. You could say that this place is to me like Starbucks to white girls. Their gyros are the best. Their special white sauce goes perfectly with their food. I usually get Brown People spicy, but if you can't handle spiced, I would highly recommended going to go for White People spicy. Even though they are very crowded, they still manage to get your food ready really quick, and it always comes out fresh. People that work there are very friendly, and always take care of their customers. The only thing they need to work on a little bit more is their wrapping, You could say that their wrapping is on 2 chainz level and they're trying to get on Eminem level. because it does get a little messy. It's still always worth it though. This is my new favorite spot to eat after The Halal Guys. read more
