Shawarma Bros had a little stand right by Waterloo Station (which was near our hotel), so they were our late night snack craving saviors a few times while in London.
As I said they are open late, so it can get a bit sketchy the later you go (we saw a man sleeping on a trash pile near the cart, once, when we came).
First off, the staff at Shawarma Bros were very nice and super efficient with the order delivery, no doubt in part due to their amazing organization inside the stall.
I watched them deftly grab things from different containers to assemble each order really quickly.
I ordered the Halloumi Fries, which were cheese (Halloumi) fried up and served with a dipping sauce that was similar to a marinara almost. My friend and I ordered this once to share, and when we went back, we made sure to each get our own, they were that good!
We tried both the spit roasted lamb shawarma and the chicken at different times. Both were tender and juicy and carved from the spinning racks right in front of you, right onto your shawarma wrap.
Each wrap comes with an assortment of veggies, but you can request to take off or add any that you want.
They also have several different sauces to try if you want to add another flavor to your shawarma.
I tried the white sauce (maybe garlic?) that they said was the most traditional sauce that comes on shawarma, and it was great - but the pickled veggies and flavorful meat almost didn't even need a sauce.
And lastly, did I mention it's also incredibly cheap for London prices? We paid probably around £12 each for a very filling shawarma and fries - not bad at all!
Now this does not have much to write home about in terms of "ambiance" but for a street cart near a train station, the food is pretty great.
Definitely recommend them for a late night (or any time of day) snack or meal - just don't expect fine dining or anything fancy. read more
