Grocery store corner of Shattuck Ave and Haste St.

I've been coming to this store for years. The owner is very nice and professional. He reminds me of a caring man who cares for the needs of the community, you know a Mom & Pop store mentality. Quality items, organic items, fresh produce daily. I make sure I spend my money at the Black-owned and operated grocery store. And you should too!

They have the korean BBQ flavor here!!!

There are a few golden finds at this place, including the unique ice cream flavors. I like to add to the list of yummy and affordable snacks - the kettle chips! But not just any kettle chips! These kettle chips also come in unique flavors that you can't find at your local Safeway! This time, the market is offering Korean BBQ flavor and curry flavor in those big chips bags for about the same price, if not cheaper than from your typical Walgreen's. So go on...stop by this market on your way home and pick up a bag for your next movie night!

Folded bike doesn't even reach knee.

Hours are also never reliable and horrible customer service. Have seen arguments between man behind cashier and other customers before, but had never happened to me. Today I decided to help out a smaller business during covid quarantine by walking in and purchasing something despite the fact I had no need to buy anything. Was yelled at "Go somewhere else!" after placing my non-intrusive folded bike near me as I was shopping.

The main advantage to this store is its convenient location. I live about two doors down from Shattuck Market, and so I go there frequently. It's not the best place in the world, and most of their items are quite pricey. Some things are fairly priced though, like butter and olive oil (what). They also have quite an interesting selection! My favorite thing about Shattuck Market next to its location is its interesting selection. It's really the perfect place for those, "I want to make ____ but I'm missing _____" moments. They have a lot of canned goods, baking goods, and even some fresh produce! Their candy section is unimpressive (and candy selection is important to me) and their hours are somewhat mysterious. I don't believe they have them posted anywhere! They seem to be open until 11pm most nights. Employees are friendly and the store is clean and organized. They don't sell alcohol. Shattuck Market has saved me many trips to Safeway! I'm going to miss living adjacent to a (semi-)convenient store when I move away.

The owner with the glasses is not nice. He doesn't speak to customers well, I'm not sure why it is but he is just rude.

Great place! The owner is so nice! Many unusual items not found in most places. I really appreciate having this market in the neighborhood.

The reason for 5 stars, however lies solely in the owner of this place, Abdi (spelling?).

On Tuesdays, tacos are $3 and fish tacos are $3.50 And they are effin GOOD. Jeebus they are good. I got the fish taco grilled for the first time yesterday. It was all I could eat. I'll be visiting for that more often. Even at full price ($5) that's a steal. IT WAS SO GOOD. They also have cheap, high quality meat. Which, in this economy, is a frikkin' god send. I go here for the meat a lot because I'm broke. And they are always so nice. I've never had any experience here where anyone was even approaching rude. Also, I am very shy about my bad spanish. But often, I'll try in Spanish and they will be patient with me about it. And I love them for that. They'll switch to English when they can tell I don't understand. (It's actually usually just me thinking. I think slow, lol.) Yeah. Lots of words, sorry. They have good meat. They have good tacos. They're nice.

I got an assortment of Turkish delight and some pistachio baklava ($2.99). The Turkish delight is sold by weight across all the varieties and goes for $16.99/lb. The guy behind the counter was super friendly and offered us a sample of one of the flavors to try which I thought was a nice gesture. Everything looked so good, so we picked a couple different pieces of Turkish delight to try. To my surprise, my favorite ended up being the saffron, though rose petal with pomegranate and sour cherry with pastachio were close seconds. I didn't like the coconut or the chocolate one that much, so reminder to myself to skip those next time. After picking up the dessert, I did a quick circle around the store to see what they had. It's not a big store but they manage to cram a lot of stuff into the limited space!

The café bartenders are always kind -- once they even let me use the bathroom before I realized the laundromat had one. I've ordered a beer while waiting for my clothes to dry and was welcomed to sit with my dog on the back patio. The atmosphere is warm and accommodating. The market itself is a treasure trove: shelves filled with Middle Eastern dry goods, nuts, dried fruits, spices, blends, and condiments you can't find anywhere else. Kofta, shish kebab, falafel, sumac, garam masala -- it's all here. They also carry pita, lavash, labna, and other breads and yogurts that make cooking from scratch feel like heaven. Bonus points for the large assortments of delicious house made baklavas! Even without a full kitchen, the prepared foods are excellent. I ordered falafel, eggplant dip, hummus, and cucumber salad from the to‑go counter -- a mini feast for $26 that didn't disappoint. **Verdict:** Courteous service, respectful staff, and a fantastic selection. Whether you're cooking at home or grabbing a bite, this place is a gem. Highly recommended.
