I give this place 5 stars because they deserve it, the employees are amazing great customer service. First time I came here was with my mother years ago, she has always talked good about this place. The produce is good quality and cheap, if you go to the meat department you will see how clean the area is and the butcher is very nice as well. Sadly my mother had to move to Pinole but when we are around this area we like to stop by and buy produce and fresh meat here, I wish more places had the type of employees that work here. read more

Large variety of food and items and they even have a meat section! Amazing customer service too. The cashier I spoke to was very nice. I donated to the gofundme for one of the sick cats he looks after. He feeds a colony of about 22 cats, so anything helps. read more

I took a quick look in here since it was near closing hours when I arrived. I didn't find any eggs there which was what I was looking for, but they do sell other staples like produce, meat, dairy, and canned goods. They also have some pan dulce that I assume are made in-house, they're two for $1. I was pretty satisfied with the bread and would probably come back since it's one of the cheapest places to get pan dulce that I've seen in this neighborhood. However, all their EBT card readers are currently still out of commission, so good to come prepared with cash. read more

Great Customer Service! This first thing to know about this market is that the four brothers who own it are exceptionally nice and friendly and helpful. You walk in and everyone greets you. The produce section has a lot of variety and the prices are good. The meat section is surprisingly good for a smaller store with very good quality and choice. They have items from many places with a lot of things that I don't see in the bigger stores. Loved it ! As a cal college student who's hispanic, finding this little hidden treasure with so many goods was amazing! There's pan, carne, queso, mexican candies and groceries which helps in wanting to cook some traditional dishes instead of eating out. I came here after a similar business up the street did not carry a specific dried soup that I frequently purchase. The clerk who was stocking product greeted me and was friendly. I love coming here because the produce is cheap and definitely nothing short of ordinary. I like being able to buy two tomatoes instead of having buy a package of 4. You can also buy mushrooms individually for incredibly low price. They carry a variety of traditional mexican products including different cheeses, drinks, peppers, tortillas, and pan dulce. I love their fresh cuts of meat and their spanish labels helped me learn that "pechuga sin hueso" means boneless breasts. The butchers are always incredibly nice and inviting and I can usually get all the produce I need there for between 5-10 dollars. read more

This is one of my favorite stores in Berkeley. As others said, the produce is always fresh, high quality and they have a good variety, too. Better than Mi Tierra across the board but especially for produce. Dried chiles are available in bulk which is so nice when you need 1 or 2 each of a bunch of different kinds for a recipe. Special shoutout to the staff- they are so kind and accommodating. It's clear that they take pride in their store. You can tell Mi Ranchito is a business that is part of the community. I was feeling too lazy to walk the extra ten steps to Mi Tierra, so I popped in here for a produce pick-up. The prices were decent, but they didn't have the nice vibe that Mi Tierra does. And the pears I bought were the blandest, most cardboard-tasting pears ever. They don't even deserve to be called pears. read more

A smaller but clean and well-stocked all-purpose grocer. The only thing they really lack is beer. The produce is good quality for relatively cheap, and the butcher has a simple, direct presentation. The paper and plastic goods to the left, and the area by the front with the mobile accessories and other small technical thingies lets them double as a convenience store as well, which is great considering how others nearby kinda blow. What really makes these guys worth checking out compared to all the other grocers is the very friendly, attentive staff in back and in front. read more

The grocery prices are good. The baked goods are also very good. The butcher shop is surprisingly good. Makes you feel like you are in the barrio back home. The while taqueria operators are nice they have changed and the food variety and quality have declined. They are often out of carnitas which is strance. read more

Selection is a bit small, especially for such a large store. It is a full service grocery store, with produce, meats, and a bakery case, and you can pretty much get all you need there. We went looking specifically for Mexican/Latin American snacks and spices, etc. to give away as party favors at our wedding.
