    Hot sauce and Tea
    J C.

Sha's is now on 5th St. in St. Charles. The new location has a bright storefront and is tucked away in the corner of Three Flags Center right off 70. There are very few top shelf tea shops around the St. Louis region, and even fewer hot sauce shops. Sha's is top notch, the owners are always super personable, friendly, and enthusiastic. They go out of their way to help make great recommendations and provide a great experience for their customers. I've been shopping with them for a few years since they were on 2nd St., and honestly they aren't just running a shop, but are true enthusiasts in providing good things for tea, coffee, and pepper heads. If you're a chili head, bean head, or tea head, if you're looking for something a little special, you'll find yourself in good hands at Sha's.

I absolutely love this store. They have a huge selection of hot sauces, tea and coffee. The service is great and they usually have what you're looking for. A bonus is that they also ship

    Some of the flavored coffees.

Two weeks ago after a luncheon, I found Sha's Coffee Beans tea Leaves N Things. Do you want tea? Do you want coffee or flavored coffee? Do you want (yes I'm going to say it) hot sauce? Yes, they have tea but they also have flavor bottles to put in your coffee along with homemade jam and cocoa. You can buy whole beans or they will grind them for you. We came because we always have a flavored coffee in the afternoon and they have small packets of flavored coffee. What kind do you say? How about Chocolate Orange or Bourbon Pecan or Cranberry Creme Brûlée? If you really like a coffee, you can get a larger bag to take home with you. We had to hurry home to try the Blueberry Cinnamon Crunch. OMG, that was the best coffee. How many types of flavored coffee do they have? Thirty (30). How many did we buy? One of each. Now what about hot sauce. They have rows of hot sauce. They have shelves of hot sauce. They have an entire room dedicated to hot sauce. I never knew there were so many kinds. I don't like hot sauce but I swear the next time I go I'm getting some. You could make a hot sauce basket for someone. Or a coffee or tea basket. Would I come back here? Yes and maybe I can get them to open another store in the Central West End. One can only hope.

Found this place on my daily walks in St. Charles. Took my oldest here and we bought a variety of individual flavored coffees, a Thai hot sauce and some packages of tea. Owner was super friendly and very accommodating taking the time to answer all of our questions. If you're looking for coffee, tea or hot sauce This is a place definitely worth your time. It's a small business that's a little quirky in terms of what it offers but everything there is quality. It's the type of place I loved to frequent and I'm glad I made the stop. I'll definitely be back.

Making difficult decisions. So many scoville units so little $.

My review is for the hot sauce shop in the back of the store. This is the best selection of hot sauce that I have found in any of my travels. The only brick and mortar place I can find my truly superhot hot sauces. The kind you have to sign a waiver to purchase. The ghost, the habanero, the scorpion, the reaper. This is their dwelling place. Come only if you seek the sweet endorphin rush of the 7th circle of hell. (Sidenote: They got bbq sauce, pickles and tea and junk too.)

It was awesome to be able to try varous sauces before we purchased any. Both owners are very knowledgeable of sauces, teas and coffee beans.

The inside of the café, it was super cute. Lots of tables and open space for working or catching up with friends. They had a lot of yummy looking baked goods to choose from. I got the Matcha X Matcha from the 2026 winter menu. It was the perfect amount of sweet but still being able to taste the Matcha, which I really appreciate. I also got a cherry danish that was soo good. And if you tried love to try a flavored Matcha or some of their coffee. After I ordered the drink and pastry came out super quick, which was really exciting. Sometimes small cafés take a while to make drinks, especially Matcha. I will say the barista was nice, but not super friendly or talkative. I might've asked some more questions about the Matcha options, but it didn't seem like she wanted to have a conversation. I get not everybody is super chatty and she was a good barista, but I think being a little bit more outgoing makes a barista great. Overall 10/10 will be coming back if I'm in the area.

Customer service was alright, but I think I'm too much of a millennial for the new gen-z customer service now (lol) My husband ordered a raspberry iced tea and I ordered the pistachio latte. My latte was SO GOOD and satisfying. It was a great buttery feel with the coffee. The raspberry iced tea was alright - nothing special and could have used a sweetener. I absolutely loved the vibes and here!

Someone from my group consulted their cell and determined that this was the closest place. I'd never heard of it. Apparently, it's a chain with multiple locations in some of our pastier exurbs. It makes you wonder what else there might be. PJ's claims to be a New Orleans coffee shop. What exactly is meant by that, I'm not sure. The coffee, at least in terms of the various preparations, seems to be the same coffee you'd get anywhere else. If you were to squint, I guess you could say that the decor on the inside is New Orleans themed. The exterior looks like the exterior of any chain establishment these days, including newer McDonald's, i.e. like a circa '09 Chipotle. Do the baristas flash you and allow you to throw beads at them? Sadly, no. I asked. Near the register there was an ad for a seasonal selection. I believe it was called a Peppermint Bark Velvet Ice, but I could be mistaken (indeed that doesn't sound like a very good name for a drink). It's not even Thanksgiving, and in fact, as I'm writing this, we're only one week removed from Halloween, but I'll allow it. I'm all PSLd out due to living near an Aldi. Anyway, this was perfect for me, because I could see what it looked like, and it spared me from having to investigate the menu further. As an inveterate brokie, I don't get coffee from fancy shops like this, but when I do, it needs to be something ridiculous, that someone might post on Instagram alongside a Labubu. I could get Folgers at home. They also carry beignets. Hence, presumably, the name. I got the smallest serving of the larger of the two sizes of beignets that they carry, which came with three of them. I'm not going to say what my total came to, out of embarrassment. I feel like a senior citizen who's just been sold a parcel of swamp land. Part of it is that I opted for a large drink. I was warned by the cashier that it comes in a very large cup. I told her that was no big deal, not realizing just how big it would be. This thing was an absolute unit, bigger than any reasonable person would need. They probably only keep it on the menu for idiots like me, who don't bother to check the actual size and price. It wasn't clear to me what was meant by velvet Ice, and it still isn't. I'd say it's along the lines of a frappe, with the caveat that I know very little about coffee drinks. The overall vibe was more chocolate than peppermint, but with bits of peppermint candy. It drinks more like an iced coffee than a milkshake, and you could slam one pretty quickly if you weren't paying attention, and you liked it that much. There's a generous whipped cream and chocolate syrup topping that doesn't melt down into the drink the way it would if the drink were hot. You end up eating it all at the end, as a sort of dessert to your dessert. Which brings us to the beignets. They're weirdly precise in their dimensions, like maybe they're heated up from frozen. They're served warm, and they're not given to you immediately, but it didn't occur to me to look and see how they were prepared. I'd describe these as being more like a dinner roll and less like a funnel cake, but not necessarily in a bad way. Ultimately, it's probably not possible to mess up a beignet. They're probably not nearly as good if you get them to go and end up eating them cold. Fortunately, I ate mine there. The seating area was nice, if maybe a little cramped, with a tiny sofa and a couple of comfy-looking chairs in addition to a row of tables. It was a veritable ghost town while we were there, so that ended up not being an issue. It was a Sunday, so people may have been at church, trying to get right with the Lord.

They had a sign on the cashwrap that they were training new barista's and to please be patient - and so that is fair. The sweet young gal taking our order was very soft spoken - so it was hard to understand if she was getting the order correct. We waited about 15 min for the two lattes we ordered to be made. That feels excessive even with training and there were only 2 iced coffees ahead of us. My drink was made then they had to tell my friend they ran out of the pecan flavor she wanted- so she had to get something else. While it was good- for a Saturday morning for the slow service and missing ingredients-I won't avoid this place, I likely will go somewhere else next time.
