I cook very day, and my kitchen knives get a lot of use. I had been using a Trizor electric sharpener, but neither I nor the sharpener were really doing the job. Did a Yelp search and found Craig's reviews and gave him a call. I live 20 minutes away, so it was just a matter of packing my knives into a knife roll and dropping them off. (If Craig is in the shop, he'll sharpen while you wait, but he wasn't so I left them and got a call when they were done.) I am beyond pleased. I don't remember the last time my knives were this sharp. He removed a notch in my beloved cleaver. I brought him ALL my knives, 9 in total, and at $6/blade the price was right! I got tired of fighting with really old dull knives (actually from paring knives to meat cleavers) and searched every drawer for all my old like me things I used to cut things with. I had both carbon steel and much harder stainless. Read everything I could and finally took "the plunge". Wrapped and boxed up 10 or 12 cutting implements and mailed them to Grass Valley, CA. In a week or 10 days my knives were back in the mail. Oh my goodness - what a surprise. Beautiful shiny blades, a couple with cleaner handles, and my huge antique meat cleaver, loaded with rust and chips, came back so pretty that I was reluctant to break a bone with it. All sharpened edges were smooth and sharp as can be. If you have any reservations about this sharpening service, DON'T. Beautiful job, fast service, and now I don't have to buy that expensive $165 Japanese knife I had my heart set on. I am completely in love with my old knives now, and I can maintain my beautiful blades on a 6000 grit stone. After years of being in storage, neither of our 2 hair cutting machines were working very well. They were grabbing and pulling my hair. I called thinking this would be a hassle even knowing he was in GV, but NO, I was told to come on down at my leisure... and he would do the work while I waited... WOW! I get to the shop, which is super easy to find, greeted right away and was blown away at the shop and his knowledge. Over the years I have had our knives sharpened at the usual places around town but have never had a knife returned this sharp. These knives are sharper than when they were new... I Have brought six blades to him all different style and some had broken tips and fat nicks. I would give Craig the owner of Sharpening Pros more than 5 stars if I could. He really cares about maximizing the potential of each tool. I brought in two older dull camping axes, and Craig returned two tools that I could shave with. I also brought 2 garden loppers which were straightened as well as sharpened. Lastly 2 grass clippers which were disassembled, oiled, and returned sharp enough to cut paper. The final cost was more than fair. After this experience, the kitchen knives will be next. read more
