What a surprise! I didn't know what to expect but I found this shop to be really amazing! Not only was neat as a pin, but it was beautiful, and great for finding something unique and special. Yes, it has anything and everything knives, but there were also antiques, glass works, cutting boards, jewelry and more. Tom, the owner was very kind and his granddaughter Aspen was a fabulous gift wrapper. Love that the owners were so responsive to my request to communicate-the service requested was some work on a pair of scissors. My Mom took her stainless steel scissors in to have some TLC! $10 for the clean up and refresh! She also took a few of her knives in - for sharpening-She is so VERY happy. What a lovely little shop. At first I was interested in going in because it is called the knife shop. I didn't need any knives but in front was a sign stating "plant sale". This new store in Cotati has so much more. There was art work and jewelry made by one of the owners. The jewelry was amazing. They had some really cute plant in old rusty Tonka trucks. I need buying one. The price was very reasonable, they were unique and will make great gifts. The couple that own the shop were fun to talk to and very friendly. I'd give 6* if I could. Thomas is an amazing man with many traits. Most importantly, I dropped off 6 knives of different sizes with different issues, such as dullness, broken tip, broken blade, bent blade, rust,.. He fixed it all at a super reasonable price and timely manner. We drove to the coast and on our way back we stayed to chat a little. He also has a thing for crystals, sells his hand made knives and other fun things. Another perk is that if you buy a knife from him he sharpens it for free. I will certainly be back! read more

I first discovered the knife shop when I was looking for a magnetic knife block, for my new set of kitchen knives. While I was purchasing it, I asked if they could sharpen clipper blades. Yes they could. Well...These guys are the real deal! Im a professional dog groomer, and NO ONE around here could sharpen my clippers blades. THESE GUYS CAN!!!! In the past, I've had to mail my blades back to NY , which is both costly and time consuming. I tried the knife shop out with one blade, and after grooming my first dog with my newly sharpened blade, I danced a dance of pure JOY! It cut like butter. I'm now bringing all my blades to him for sharpening. I haven't tried him out on my shears yet, but will. I have also had him sharpen my expensive kitchen knives and MAN those babies are SHARP (you get your newly sharpened knife back wrapped in newsprint, with a bandaid taped to it). Yeah, I like my cutting tools sharp, and sharp they all are!! Thomas and his wife are so friendly and helpful, it's a pleasure to work with them. They have a wide variety of knives for sale from hunting to kitchen and some fun little house wares as well. The sharpening service is world class - better than factory. Between the two of us, we were able to speak with both Thomas and Jenny. They were both friendly and informative. Just really great people. We even added a boning knife to our collection at the suggestion of Thomas. It's the only knife we've used since the purchase. The price of the both sharpening and the new knife were so reasonable we can't imagine going anywhere else. read more

I originally went in to just get some new steak knives (which I did) but I also returned with a bunch of knives to sharpen and purchased 3 new kitchen knives. My knives were sharpened while I waited. The Knife Shop in Cotati (close to the firehouse) does a fantastic job! True Story: My partner took about 10 of our knives in for sharpening, was able to drop them off, run some errands and returned in about an hour to pick them up. We are very particular about who sharpens our Japanese knives. The sharpening cost per knife is reasonably priced, the quality of the work is superb and it makes us feel good to support locally owned businesses. Upon arriving home, my partner placed the group of knives on the counter. I laughed and commented on the cute idea of the bandaid which taped to the back of the business card as he pulled out our most loved one to check the work, gently sliding his finger over the blade, flaying his thumb. He used the bandaid.... Now if that's not some top notch customer service, then I don't know what is! Thanks Knife Shop! We'll be back. :) read more

I've taken two sets of knives to the Knife Shop to be sharpened and am very happy with the results both times. They were able to fix the broken tip of two knives, which was great! They will sharpen knives while you wait, I preferred to run a couple of errands instead. I ended up buying a gift, which apparently they will sharpen for free in the future. I'll try to be a better knife owner and bring my knives to them regularly. read more

Excellent customer service. I took in 2 pairs of sewing scissors and Thomas sharpened them on the spot for a very reasonable price. The personal touch: there are 3 bookshelves of free books at the entryway along with a swing and rocker. This place defines the reasons for "shop local." We'd seen FB posts praising this store and vowed to take a few of our knives for sharpening. What a great find! Not only did they sharpen our knives, which I thought were unsalvageable, but they have a huge selection of all kinds of knives. We needed steak knives and a paring knife desperately. Ours were over 40 years old and wouldn't even cut paper! They helped us out and prices were reasonable. Can't wait to try everything out. A cute touch was the 'band-aid' attached to sharpened knives to remind us that...well, they're SHARP now! read more

Their work is exceptional. I received my 5 knives back in very sharp condition. They were wrapped in a newspaper bundle with a bandaid stapled to the outside. I took a pruner in to have the blades sharpened. It cost $20 (?) and the pruner came back just as dirty as I'd turned it in and the blades were sharper but not good enough. Most places would return the item looking like new and sharper. I took steel wool to it, less than 5 minutes looks new and I'll find another place to do a thorough job with sharper blades. I suspect they spent 5 minutes on it, when 7 might have provided good service. One good note, many of the staff are delightful and the store has some nice merchandise. read more
