By no means is the actual range itself as beautiful as the ones in the nicer areas of Texas, HOWEVER it is simple and gets the job done with adjustable targets and good space in each lane some even being lower than others. They keep it very well ventilated with huge fans and isn't ridiculously loud/concussive even when shooting with more than one person. The staff are also all so nice, I've never had a bad encounter with any of them and they don't sell ridiculously priced ammo for basic calibers like 9mm and 5.56. I give it a 5 out if 5 stars because of the fact that it's everything you really need to just go an shoot, you might need to look somewhere else if you want longer range shooting or more advanced electronic systems, but it will do what it needs to. I purchased a revolver at a Gun Show in San Antonio and when I took it to the range, it wouldn't…read morefire. The firing pin was making just a slight indentation in the primer but not enough to fire the bullets. I called a shop (that will go unnamed) and they said it would be impossible to analyze the problem over the phone and to bring the gun to their shop and they'll look it over. The next day I did just that but my reception was ice cold. The two fellows working in the shop were clueless when it came to my gun and seemed disinterested in helping me. Basically they just threw out all kinds of "maybe it is this" and "maybe it is that" but didn't offer to try and fix the gun. So I went to Modern Pawn. Their gunsmith was fantastic. I explained the problem and he set about trying to fix the gun. He spent about one hour working on the firing pin but the gun would never fire more than about 2/3rds of the rounds in the cylinder. The gunsmith said it was probably a problem with the firing pin and suggested I purchase a new one from an on-line retail supplier. I did as he suggested, installed the new firing pin and all is well with the world. My gun fires first time, every time. The customer service I received from Modern Pawn was commendable. It is rare to receive that kind of professional attention. In fact, today (about one week after my first visit to Modern Pawn) after successfully firing the gun I went back to Modern Pawn to let the gunsmith know the results of his recommendation. Expecting to need to identify myself and my gun, and explain what had been wrong with my gun --- I was completely surprised when the gunsmith knew before I got one word out who I was and asked me if replacing the firing pin fixed the gun. I told him yes, and again thanked him for his fantastic service. Having spent over an hour while the gunsmith worked on my gun during my first visit to Modern Pawn, I had the chance to observe very closely the conduct of the sales personnel. They were all first class. Each took all the time necessary to help each customer with their specific issues and questions. All the sales reps seemed really concerned that each customer was helped in such a way (whether they bought anything or not) that made sure all their questions and concerns were thoroughly answered. One thing is for sure --- compared to my experiences with other gun shops in the Corpus Christi area, this shop is tops. They now have me as a loyal customer and I recommend them to all my friends and neighbors. So if personalized and first rate service is important to you, take your business to Modern Pawn. You'll notice once inside that it is not like your average pawn shop. It is about 95% guns and gun related items --- so in my mind it is more of a gun shop than a pawn shop. Of course prices can be negotiated on used guns and their prices for new guns is the same as most retailers. What you do get here that you won't get from other gun shops or large retailers is service after the sale. Plus they can retrofit your gun to a myriad of configurations. So whether you want a new or used or special-purpose weapon, visit Modern Pawn first. You'll be glad you did and you'll save time and money running around from one shop to another. From the first booking to my trip home, I was impressed by how efficient the hunt was. The sprawling South Texas Ranch was a delightful short adventure with no mishaps in what is truly a target rich environment. I made my expectations clear while booking the hunt. As a lifelong archer I learned years ago that most hunting lodges are not archer-friendly. This was also true of the Lonesome Bull Ranch which actually made my hunt more enjoyable. The guide went to extraordinary lengths to make my goals easily attainable. Nothing major, but their willingness to make my hunt successful was impressive. How such a small staff can keep up with the daily demands of maintaining the hunting grounds amazed me then and that amazement still lingers. Short side, this is a self hunt which keeps the prices competitive. No cooks or cleaners or unnecessary doodads. I took my targets with the help of a knowledgeable and patient guide. The accommodations are clean, modern and simply. I am already making plans for a return trip.

Story was that nobody told the ranch manager we were coming. Red flag! Purchased Axis Trophy hunt. Traveled across the country - before we took the luggage out of the truck, they wanted CASH payment and signed contract. They offered us to hunt for about an hour and a half in the am + an hour and a half in the pm. Ranch had very few species and the species they did have were very young, year and a half at the most. Last morning of the hunt, after not seeing any Bull Axis deer, manager offered me to shoot a Fallow for the same $4000.00 price but it was running across the field. I discussed getting a refund because I purchased an Axis Trophy deer package but they had NO Axis deer to offer, was told by the ranch manager I needed to contact Fred Rich, the ranch owner. Unfortunately, ranch manager never showed his face again, didn't say bye, thank you for coming, NOTHING, sent his brother to do his dirty work & collect his tip. Called owner Fred Rich after returning home, stated my name and his immediate response was "you can come back for $495.00 a day guide fee + $69.00 a night for the room." Told him I wasn't interested in spending any more money there, just wanted to get a refund. He proceeded to tell me "I'm not the owner, talk to the ranch manager" & HUNG UP ON ME. Called the ranch manager and he said this was all out of his control and he was not authorized to that. BAD BUSINESS. Ranch offered no satellite, meal plan is you buy your groceries and the ranch managers wife will cook you 2 meals a day for $125 a day. Not to mention, they want EVERYTHING paid in CASH, CASH, CASH. If you're considering purchasing a hunt @ Lonesome Bull Ranch, I highly recommend doing some research. You won't have to look far.
