It had been a loooong time since I had been on a range. And for my father, it had been decades…read more After the CVid 19 toilet paper fights and craziness though, I decided it might make sense to get a firearm in the house again. But I just hadn't made time to get acquainted with it. I was actually a little nervous about how much I might have forgotten. Felt there were probably a hundred little things - stupid little mistakes - I could carelessly stumble into. So I had been putting it off. Turns out I had *nothing* to worry about. Instead of trying to pretend like I remembered what I was doing, I signed up for a basic introductory gun safety class for myself and my Dad. Figured the safest thing would be to build a solid foundation by starting back again at square one. Sure, a lot of it was review -- but it was good review. Our instructor Payt (Peyt?) was amazing! He was incredibly knowledgeable, had a great way of explaining things, but most of all, he had an incredible sense of calm control that assured us everything was okay, everything was being done safely, that we were safe, and that we were being trained to BE safe for others as well. Everything was step by step, which was exactly what I'd hoped for. And sure enough, it all started coming back. By the end of our session we both felt comfortable, confident and safe clearing our weapons, loading rounds into our magazines, loading magazines into our weapons, chambering, setting a proper stance, sighting, breathing, making adjustments, firing, handing recoil, working safeties, clearing jams, ejecting spent magazines, and clearing our weapons again for safe storage. In short, as I stated before -- Peyt was awesome! And the entire time was pleasant, enjoyable, and fun. Put about 100 rounds downrange that day between the both of us. We had a great time, and definitely look forward to going back soon. We see not only an opportunity to rebuild a valuable skill down at the Sharp Shooter, but also a chance to spend time sharing a pass-time we can both enjoy getting better at...together. Thanks Peyt! And thanks to everyone at the Sharp Shooter! Definitely a top-notch bunch of knowledgeable, professional, and all around great people.

Not for serious shooters…read more 1. Horrible airventilation in the range and it is very stuffy. This is a SAFETY CONCERN. If you shoot more than a few times a year you will be exposed to breathing in lead. There was practically no ventilation within the range. God help you if you shoot using suppressors like I do because the cloud of lead will build up right in your face and you'll be breathing in all of it. This is a serious safety issue and I hope they fix it. 2. Expensive. Just to shoot by myself for one hour was $20 (with military discount) and I brought my own guns and ammo. This is alright if you only wanna shoot every once in a while but if you're somebody who wants to shoot once or twice a week like I do, it adds up fast. That's not including the price of ammo. Yearly membership is 500 dollars per year which is very steep, and there are no discounts on yearly membership. 3. It's small. There are four shooting lanes and you may have to be put into a queue and wait until the lanes clear before you are permitted to enter. For a city the size of corpus this is insufficient Some good things I can say is the service is good and the staff seem to be knowledgeable and friendly TL;DR: if you only plan to shoot a few times a year and are very casual this is a perfectly acceptable range. If you are active military or a serious shooter I recommend you find somewhere else to be your go-to range

Having experienced the hospitality and inhospitality of hunting lodges across the US and other…read morecountries, I was duly impressed with my reception and results from the staff of the Lonesome Bull Ranch. From the first booking to my trip home, I was impressed by how efficient the hunt was. The sprawling South Texas Ranch was a delightful short adventure with no mishaps in what is truly a target rich environment. I made my expectations clear while booking the hunt. As a lifelong archer I learned years ago that most hunting lodges are not archer-friendly. This was also true of the Lonesome Bull Ranch which actually made my hunt more enjoyable. The guide went to extraordinary lengths to make my goals easily attainable. Nothing major, but their willingness to make my hunt successful was impressive. How such a small staff can keep up with the daily demands of maintaining the hunting grounds amazed me then and that amazement still lingers. Short side, this is a self hunt which keeps the prices competitive. No cooks or cleaners or unnecessary doodads. I took my targets with the help of a knowledgeable and patient guide. The accommodations are clean, modern and simply. I am already making plans for a return trip.

Story was that nobody told the ranch manager we were coming. Red flag! Purchased Axis Trophy hunt. Traveled across the country - before we took the luggage out of the truck, they wanted CASH payment and signed contract. They offered us to hunt for about an hour and a half in the am + an hour and a half in the pm. Ranch had very few species and the species they did have were very young, year and a half at the most. Last morning of the hunt, after not seeing any Bull Axis deer, manager offered me to shoot a Fallow for the same $4000.00 price but it was running across the field. I discussed getting a refund because I purchased an Axis Trophy deer package but they had NO Axis deer to offer, was told by the ranch manager I needed to contact Fred Rich, the ranch owner. Unfortunately, ranch manager never showed his face again, didn't say bye, thank you for coming, NOTHING, sent his brother to do his dirty work & collect his tip. Called owner Fred Rich after returning home, stated my name and his immediate response was "you can come back for $495.00 a day guide fee + $69.00 a night for the room." Told him I wasn't interested in spending any more money there, just wanted to get a refund. He proceeded to tell me "I'm not the owner, talk to the ranch manager" & HUNG UP ON ME. Called the ranch manager and he said this was all out of his control and he was not authorized to that. BAD BUSINESS. Ranch offered no satellite, meal plan is you buy your groceries and the ranch managers wife will cook you 2 meals a day for $125 a day. Not to mention, they want EVERYTHING paid in CASH, CASH, CASH. If you're considering purchasing a hunt @ Lonesome Bull Ranch, I highly recommend doing some research. You won't have to look far. Texas hunting forums, yelp, Facebook, etc. This is Fred Rich - I tried to post review on Facebook and was blocked. This was their response on Facebook prior to being blocked -
