I brought in a new tikka rifle with a bolt that would not eject. The staff worked on the bolt got it to eject cleaned the bolt and got it working properly. They didn't charge me. It had been a loooong time since I had been on a range. And for my father, it had been decades. After the CVid 19 toilet paper fights and craziness though, I decided it might make sense to get a firearm in the house again. But I just hadn't made time to get acquainted with it. I was actually a little nervous about how much I might have forgotten. Felt there were probably a hundred little things - stupid little mistakes - I could carelessly stumble into. So I had been putting it off. Turns out I had *nothing* to worry about. Instead of trying to pretend like I remembered what I was doing, I signed up for a basic introductory gun safety class for myself and my Dad. Figured the safest thing would be to build a solid foundation by starting back again at square one. Sure, a lot of it was review -- but it was good review. Our instructor Payt (Peyt?) was amazing! He was incredibly knowledgeable, had a great way of explaining things, but most of all, he had an incredible sense of calm control that assured us everything was okay, everything was being done safely, that we were safe, and that we were being trained to BE safe for others as well. Everything was step by step, which was exactly what I'd hoped for. And sure enough, it all started coming back. By the end of our session we both felt comfortable, confident and safe clearing our weapons, loading rounds into our magazines, loading magazines into our weapons, chambering, setting a proper stance, sighting, breathing, making adjustments, firing, handing recoil, working safeties, clearing jams, ejecting spent magazines, and clearing our weapons again for safe storage. In short, as I stated before -- Peyt was awesome! And the entire time was pleasant, enjoyable, and fun. Put about 100 rounds downrange that day between the both of us. We had a great time, and definitely look forward to going back soon. We see not only an opportunity to rebuild a valuable skill down at the Sharp Shooter, but also a chance to spend time sharing a pass-time we can both enjoy getting better at...together. Thanks Peyt! My go-to range when I was stationed here. Staff is super awesome, extremely knowledgeable, and every now and then, Barrett the managers pup will make an appearance. Range is pretty clean - 5 pistol bays and 5 rifle bays out to 50 yards. It can get pretty slammed during the weekends, but they do have military Mondays. read more

I used to go to the Sharp Shooter when they were at a different location. I hadn't been since they moved and that's been several years now. But, when I did (to practice for an upcoming CHL class), it was amazing how much the little shooting range had grown! They have a full gun SHOP inside with all kinds of cleaning supplies, accessories for your guns, clothes, some items for the home, gun safes....very impressive. The guys behind the counter are exceptionally nice. They helped me with a jammed slide on my .45 with no hesitation. They installed a new grip and didn't charge me for it. And the price for that grip was comparable to anywhere I'd be finding it and those other places would NOT have installed it for me. Yeah, they only have 10 lanes for shooting and it can get busy but I know there are plenty of times when they're not so much and I can go then. One plug I have to put in here. They offer the CHL course that takes care of your application, photos, notary and proficiency exam all in one place. And I HIGHLY recommend you take advantage of Capt Oren Moore's class. He's an EXCELLENT instructor as well as a wealth of knowledge about gun laws and great stories from his long career in law enforcement. Makes the 10 hours you're in there go pretty quick. Having recently moved to the Coastal Bend, I was finally in a position with house repairs to take another step towards my "retirement" activities, one being to be shooting again. I hate to admit I purchased my handgun shortly after 9/11 for personal protection and it had never been fired. So, after 20+ years, I broke it out and talked to the counter staff that assured me it would all come back pretty quickly. The aim did come back but the weapon was so dry it wouldn't cleanly discharge the casing. A little oil and rub at the repair bench and all was good with aim and weapon performance. I've been back and will be there regularly for sport and practice. Great staff, great facility (even better when you police your own brass) and decent prices. I go during the weekday so no waiting. Even if you have to wait a bit on the weekend, I think it would be worth your time. Happy Shooting! read more

The range is okay. Went for Military Monday and the lane was broke and the range wasn't lit very well. The AC was either not working or wasn't turned on. We were drenched in sweat after 15 minutes. Afterwards I asked a second employee if they had a specific pistol in stock and he said he wasn't sure. I asked him if he could check, he walked away, and when he came back 5 minutes later he still hadn't checked. I asked him how much a specific brand of ammo was and he replied with "somewhere around $17" and didn't check. I was trying to buy a pistol and ammo but he only wanted to keep telling me I should have my weapons laser engraved through them. So I didn't buy anything. read more

The over all price came to about $20 for the half hour handling gun training course and about half an hour of shooting time. These guys are rude. There is no professionalism here folks. I've been in 2 times in the last month. Hoping their attitudes would change. Yeah they didn't. As I was at the counter some feller walks in and was standing at the counter peering at the weaponry, the feller asks the employee about a particular rifle and the employee responds, " uh that's a four thousand one hundred dollar gun cause I really don't want to sell that one"! Okay hold on a second, here's what I determined. The employee looked at this feller as though he didn't have the money to purchase a high dollar gun. And what a response. I mean cmon. Y'all think your shiza don't stink up the place but it's stinks so bad I will NEVER go back. Their just a bunch of D1X seriously. I don't get it. Just cause you sell firearms you don't have to be so pricky. Not a good place. And the rest of the employees were talking crap about someone who was shooting that couldn't. Almost as though making a joke and like they are some serious operator. These boys round this part needs a straightened out boot kick. Forget this place. This is long, but I want all women with limited gun experience to know how wonderful Sharp Shooter was to me. After a sudden series of break-ins around my neighborhood, I decided to take my personal safety in my own hands and acquire a gun, lessons, and practice with a firearm. I have limited prior experience with guns and that could've been intimidating to admit in a place like Sharp Shooter, but I was so scared of my neighborhood situation that I didn't even care. After waiting at the case for about five minutes, a young gentleman asked if I needed help and I just unloaded everything on him. "Yep. There have been break-ins in my neighborhood and I need a gun. I don't know much about them so I need to know where to get lessons, practice shooting, and get my CHL. I don't know what I want. I just need help." Without skipping a beat, Eric pulled out three guns that he usually recommends to women. He gave me the pros and cons for each, and asked if I saw any others in the case that I'd like to try. He explained private and group beginners lessons as well as CHL classes. I decided on a private lesson and he immediately took me into the classroom. I can't say enough great things about my lesson or Eric. He was always extremely professional and very knowledgeable. He was never condescending, nor made me feel as though he was inconvenienced by my silly questions. When it came to my grip and stance, we practiced until it was correct, but again, I never felt as though I was an imposition. I learned so much from my time in the classroom. Then we went off to the range. This is where a lesser professional would have shown his impatience and disgust with a student such as me. My vertical rivaled LeBron's with every shot fired from other lanes but Eric never made me feel as though I was acting like a dramatic 16 year old. He made sure I felt safe and explained what was happening around me, what I should expect, and what exactly I was to do. With each round I fired he gave me tips and encouragement. Again, he remained the consummate professional. When we were finished, Eric explained other classes and specials given by Sharp Shooter along with all the prices and little tips for each class & drop-ins. I appreciated the transparency in their fees, because for someone who knows nothing of gun range costs & needs, this was vital information. From start to finish Eric took and hour and a half with me. For that I am extremely thankful and will be a Sharp Shooter customer for as long as they're (especially Eric) is around. Now, when I excitedly relayed my Sharp Shooter experience to my boyfriend, he rolled his eyes and insisted that I got "dealershiped" because I was a woman who was scared and alone in a male dominated situation. No matter the accolades I bestowed upon Eric & Sharp Shooter, he wasn't buying it. UNTIL....he saw the gun that Eric helped me fall in love with. My boyfriend loved it, too. He heard my new firearm lingo. My boyfriend was impressed by that, too. He saw my grip, stance, and comfortability with my new Smith & Wesson 380 EZ. My boyfriend recanted. I wasn't "dealershiped." Have teenagers???-------Our family was on vacation in Corpus Christi June 15-22 2020 and we really wanted to go to a shooting range however we have only had one small experience long ago with handling a gun. I really wanted some kind of formal instruction that included a safety briefing because I have a 15 and 17 year old teenage boy and I wanted to make sure that the "education and safety" part did not get overlooked. We went to Sharp Shooter and they were extremely busy but my husband explained what we were looking for to Eric (I think it was Eric). Because sales have recently gone through the roof, and because of a loss of some elderly employees choosing to retire (due to COVID 19), they had to cancel many classes including private classes. So, we thought we weren't going to be able to shoot unless we did it without any help. BUT..... Eric was absolutely fabulous! He made sure that our family of 4 was able to get into a lane and shoot a variety of different guns but not before making sure he did a thorough overview and briefing with each of us.....paying special attention to emphasize key safety points with my teenage boys. He is a natural teacher with GREAT analogies that he applied to help us understand rationale about how to hold the guns, how to aim, the loading and the safety etc etc etc. He had another employee come and watch us to make sure we were doing things correctly and he also was a fabulous instructor with great feedback (I apologize I forgot his name). I was so happy because both of my boys totally related to Eric and his employee and were attentively grabbing onto every single word of instruction. This was so important to me ......I think Eric and his staff knew exactly how to communicate with my teenage boys to make sure the message of seriousness was loud and clear. This was a GREAT experience! Not only did we learn so much, it was a great activity to do as a family. We are now in the process of background checks to purchase our own firearm for home. The Sharp Shooter staff went way out of their way .....above and beyond .......to help facilitate a SAFE shooting experience for our novice family. The lines were long in the store, they were very busy but they managed to multi-task and never forgot about us or any other customer they were helping. I hope to visit Corpus Christi again, I would love to go back to shoot. I found this place after getting shoddy customer service or rather non service at another gun shop in town. I was there looking to get a replacement for my current edc. As I walked I noticed that they were already a handful of customers there talking to the employees. After about 5 minutes of looking at the displays, an employee named Christian asked if I needed help. I told him i was interested in a gun similar in size as my current edc. We went through a few guns and settled on one of them. Paperwork was done using a laptop which was a nice change from what I'm used to. After everything was good I paid and left within 30 minutes of arriving. This shop has a good selection of pistols, rifles and accessories. Employees are knowledgeable and friendly. They made me feel my time was important to them and earn not only a sale that day, but a for sure repeat customer. read more

Sadly Corpus doesn't have much in the way of gun ranges. There is the Corpus Christi Gun Club out in the middle of nowhere, and which seems like a hassle to just go and shoot. I've been here 2 times, staff seems nice, maybe a little "green" but not unsafe or stupid. You go up to the counter, you can rent Eyes and Ears, or they let you bring in your own, they take you drivers license, give you a lane and send you on your way, if you want to "buy" things they just add it to your tab. Pros Staff seems laid back but safe, No range Nazi nonsense. Its easy to get to Parking is easy The Location is safe The Lanes themselves are nice No one seems to care how fast you fire Cons It's LOUD in there, i'm used to outdoor ranges. The Website says no Rifles or shotguns, but then I see people with Rifles and shotguns, I haven't asked whats up with that. It's an indoor range. No Head shots on Targets.
