Construction has not started yet, so I cannot speak to the building process or the finished product. But everything we have experienced so far has been so positive that I felt Preferred Home Builders truly deserves five stars at this stage. After an extremely frustrating experience with a different contractor, I feel compelled to share what we learned for anyone embarking on the ADU journey: do not fall for charlatans, empty promises, lousy sketches, or requests for too much money upfront. Take your time, ask questions, and look for a professional who is willing to invest the time and expertise needed to understand your project before asking you to commit. That is exactly what we found in Nir at Preferred Home Builders. From our very first meeting, Nir has been professional, punctual, courteous, knowledgeable, and incredibly patient. Before we signed a contract, and before he even knew whether he would get our business, he invested more than 10 hours of in person meetings with us, in addition to extensive email communication. That level of commitment made a huge impression on us. Our ADU site presents some challenges because of the hilly terrain.
