I love the nachos here, but I cannot stand the people that work there all of them always have a problem and they never listen

First time trying Sharky's after hearing people talk about it for years! Sharky's is located inside the grocery store United. It's a great price for the quantity of food. You can order a burrito, chips, and dip for about $5-6. A filling meal that's quick and easy. I can honestly say that it's overrated though. Not great flavor when it comes to their meat whether you're eating steak or chicken. Their spicy ranch was good! It's an incredible deal, cheap! Worth trying if you haven't already, but nothing to go out of your way for. read more

Usually, I love Sharky's. Today, it was disgusting. I got the carnitas and it literally tasted like somebody had popped a can of over-salted cat food on my nachos. Not even pork cat food. Like mystery fish cat food. I was unimpressed with the food today. The service as usual was satisfactory. But I'll never come back, I ended up trying to scoop the slimy, wet, soggy overcooked grossness off my nachos but every now and then i got a cat food flavor. Horrible. Beef had no flavor. Burrito handler was a total d***, that is when he wasn't ignoring us and acting like the depressed cartoon person in a Zoloft commercial. I said "just a little bit of beans;" beans make up 45% of this burrito. I said "a dash of med hot sauce;" it was then smothered. Since Abilene is devoid of a Chipotle, Sharky's steps up to fill that void. In a leased space inside the United Supermarket, you'll find this make your own burrito spot. Choose your size (kids or adult), your tortilla type (flour, wheat or jalapeño), and then go down the line and tell them what to put in your burrito (a la Chipotle). I chose black beans, rice, tomatoes, onions, pico, onions, and cheese. After you're done, they wrap it up and get your chips and salsa. I asked for mild and medium. They were a great combo and pretty fresh. I just wish they heated up the burrito before it was done. But a satisfying meal nonetheless, especially after an hour on the treadmill. Can we get a clean up on the employees attitudes and dining tables? I have been going here for over 10 years now and the food is great. The spicy ranch is something to dream about. The employee basically slammed the guacamole into my burrito as if she were taking her day out on it. The friendly chatter you would want with a chipotle style set up is lacking. My burrito was good, the spicy ranch met all my expectations and the chips were warm. I just wish the service was a little more warm. read more

Fun place! The people really help make it - awesome servers and staff in general. Super nice and helpful. Burritos are very good - not as good as Freebirds but cheaper and better value. Decent food, low price, huge portions. Chips are incredibly salty with their seasoning. There's usually a wait at lunch time and ~2 people working a busy counter. Biggest complaint is watery ingredients make the burritos difficult to eat without making a mess. read more

If you're gluten free don't bother going to Sharkies. I assumed they would at least have corn tortillas. I was sadly mistaken and my daughter hugely disappointed. We could have had nachos but we can have nachos anywhere. Much cheaper. And they aren't special. Or we could buy toppings and throw them in a bowl. Again we can do that anywhere. Even Taco Bueno for much less. And we love Taco Bueno so if that's what we want we'll go there. We truly understand that not every restaurant can cater to us but seriously a burrito place should have corn tortillas. That's a no brainer. And the employee had a "whatever" attitude. I think that's why I am most annoyed. My daughter was sad and she was just indifferent. As if she was annoyed she was upset. At least show compassion. We love United - it's where we buy our groceries. And this is not how anyone at any United I shop at would have treated us. They may not could have solved the problem but they would have cared and would have shown compassion especially to a child. read more

This place kind of reminds me of Freebirds EXCEPT Sharky's rice is actually cooked right. I tried it for the first time and it's not too shabby. To me it's a little pricey but you do get chips and salsa. As for how long it takes to get through the line, I think it depends. When I went it took like 5-7 minutes but then a line grew and plus, there were only two people working...so...give them a break. Tastes pretty good. Good queso, I like it better than Chipotle's queso. Overall, the atmosphere reminds me of Fuzzy's, if Fuzzy's were next to a Starbucks in a United Supermarket. read more

I work at sharkys and I used to not be to impressed with the service when I was a customer but as a worker I realized it's hard to keep everyone happy although I do my very best to try and be helpful and friendly in any way that I can. I really enjoy my job and the management is amazing, our food has been bad in the past but we have been trying our hardest to fix that and create some of the best burritos in Abilene. I read the reviews on yelp and they really help me figure out what to do differently at work to better serve our guests. I owe a good portion of the joy from my college years to Sharkys. There is just something special about going to Sharkys for lunch after a long week. It's a phenomenal place to catch up with old friends. Abstinence from sharkys for any period of time will leave a gaping void in your life, that must be filled at all costs. The staff are very friendly and the options are pretty good. The Spicy ranch is an absolute necessity on anything you order. Food is really good once you learn to order to suit your tastebuds. Prices are slightly below average for this size of a burrito. This Sharkys is much cheaper than the Sharkys in Amarillo, and the food tastes better as well. Depending on the time of day you go, the line can be long, so plan accordingly. read more

I can't recommend this spot even though they have potential. First of all, the cashier needs to cut his cocaine nail (I guess he doesn't realize that the bulk of their business comes from the Christian College across the street) Second, the senior citizen server needs to put more meat in the burrito or at least be consistent. It was very rice heavy with little flavor and the salsa was garbage. As soon as chipotle opens a store this place will go out of business! great substitute for Chipotle. unlike Chipotle, Sharky's does not have cilantro in everything - so that could be a plus if you're not a cilantro fan. for a decent price, you get a burrito and chips & salsa. the only downside is that the staff is not very attentive or welcoming. waited a long time for my order (excluding the wait in line). i got my order to-go but noticed that many unoccupied tables were still dirty. read more
