After years of receiving consistently amazing breakfast burritos, La Pop deserves 5 stars. I have yet to find a better breakfast burrito even outside of Abilene at this point. I get chorizo, bacon, and egg burritos every time! Phenomenal! I always order two for myself portion size wise. Their tortillas are delicious and clearly homemade. Aside from their breakfast tacos, their crunchy beef tacos are great and a favorite of mine! Service is always friendly. It's a busy spot! The line goes out to the road in the mornings and the parking lot is always full, but I don't mind the wait since the food is worth it. read more

I was in town for the Little League Championship and I made my way over to this place. It was so good (my opinion) that I made my way back the following day to try some other items on the menu. First day I had some breakfast burritos and a cup of agua frescas. I can honestly say that they reminded me of South Texas, a real deep tradition made way. While enjoying my food I couldn't help but notice the amount of patrons waiting to pick up orders and lining up the drive thru. A real indication of how popular this place is...the amount of people speaks volumes of the food served here. The second day I had a gordita and a quesadilla along with some more agua fresca. Quesadilla was not bad and the gordita was pretty good. The agua frescas are very addictive as they are so rich with real fruit flavors. If I ever find myself in Abilene again I will definitely make it a point to stop here and indulge in there food and drinks. read more

The quality of the food has really went down. Both burritos were so salty they made my stomach hurt.

So freaking good! The homemade tortillas make the breakfast burritos even better. Add whatever ingredients you want and get such a good - homemade tasting about $4 burrito! Perfect size for me. Hubby had two! But for eight bucks- you still can't go wrong! The line was worth it and the staff were super nice! Don't just drive by! Get in line and try it now! read more

It's really small place. Very little room for dining inside. This place and especially the drive through gets very crowded and busy. They usually have fast service and move the line along pretty well. They always have good fresh burritos although small in size. Service is good. Ambiance is plain. read more

This is a locally owned fully fresh burrito shop. I've never been when there has not been a line of cars or people inside.- but they are fast! The food is delicious! and you can tell the tortillas used are made from scratch. the menu is simple and more than enough options for even the pickiest eater. They have fresh made aqua fresca also with a variety of flavors like mango, strawberry banana, etc... and they have horchata ! I will continue to support this restaurant! read more

ALWAYS great carne guisada burritos! Staff are nice and food comes out in a timely manner.

Local hot spot for a good fulfilling breakfast burrito. The frescas are good and the burritos are big. From an old gas station to a town favorite. If you are motorcycle touring around these parts then do yourself a favor and grab a few to go to keep that energy. read more

I eat at La Popular on Treadway every Wednesday, on my way out of town. I get two beef and gravy and a large lemonaide! And I'd eaten a lot of their other menue items, too! The enchilada plate, the taco plate, their breakfast burritos, everything is delicious. read more

Outstanding burritos! Carne Guisada is my favorite but honestly everything is fantastic. Don't slip on that Aqua Fresca either. Banana is the bomb diggity. read more

Great food & service! Don't let the number of cars scare you off. The short wait is well worth it! I'll be back in Abilene this month & it's in my list of must stops! read more

Carne guisada and tortillas are delicious! Only reason to ever visit Abilene! 10/10 would try again!

La Popular is my all time favorite place for breakfast tacos, and their salsa is to die for. You might have to wait a bit when the line is long, but it's worth it. My only complaint is that it's often hard to know when they are open. Good idea to call before you go. read more

I grew up in Abilene, and found this jewel when I was 19 back when the only location they had was Treadaway blvd. They have been the best breakfast burritos ever since and I am so happy they have expanded the way they have. This is a staple for my husband and family when we come to visit. Definitely a must have! read more

This is my go-to burrito spot in Abilene. I recommend getting the guisada, bean, and cheese burrito. It's always on point. The people here are nice but I wish they had a more advanced system to get their orders out. read more

My husband's mom picked this up for lunch today. She said she loves it here. FOOD Carne Asada Guisado - His mom really likes this so she bought a pint. It looked exactly like the description. Some meat stewed in gravy. The meat was chewy and the gravy sauce was overly salty. Tortillas - Apparently, these are fresh tortillas. They were nice and soft and you really needed these to cut the salt from the guisado. Prices are really cheap here. Can't say that I would want this again though. read more

In my search for the 6 am burrito, this place is on the way to work, and 3 blocks from AM Donuts, not that I need both on the same day. Or do I!? La Popular is Abilene's favorite local burrito, but I must disagree. They are all about the same. Same small size, same price. Hot sauce a little different each place. But this place is convenient, so I come here the most. I'll be back, and you should too! read more

La Popular Bakery Burrito Stop - This place has great burritos - Tex-Mex Near Me - Abilene, Texas

Best burritos in town. This will cure your hangover in time to make that tee time and make your buddies wedding, atleast it did for me

Good burritos, but get your order wrong about half the time. If you ask, and PAY for, extra bacon they are very reluctant to give you what you paid for. The burrito you get is still pretty tasty, but the fact that they cannot get simple orders right can be attributed to either dishonest practices (probably not) or general incompetence. Pretty good burrito, but they'll probably get your order wrong. read more

Quick service even with a long line. #LIFEHACK The price for 10 bacon and egg burritos was $5 cheaper at this location than the S14th location! Just sayin'. Everyone loves La Popular in Abilene. It's truly a staple here. read more

La pop is something that everyone hypes up in Abilene. It's good, yes. But just an overpriced average burrito. I eat here regularly but there are just better options in my opinion. read more

I've been running around town since I woke up this morning and was in some serious need of food. I knew that need would be met soon as soon as I spotted La Popular Burrito on Treadway. Chose the sausage and egg. One of the best burrito places in town with several locations. TIP; in and out quickly, don't bring your hole family inside the place is too small, parking in almost always a mess do pull in and out slowly. read more

I live in Brownwood and usually buy tamales to take back home with me. The 14th and Pine locations were out so I called this location to see if they had any tamales. I was happy to hear they had one and a half dozen left. That was until I tried them. While the flavor is the same these tamales are much more skimpy than the other two locations. One problem is they use a lot less meat mixture and that's just being cheap but the other problem was they only cover half the corn corn husk now that's just plain lazy because masa hardly costs anything. Won't be buying tamales from this location ever again. read more

This place is my favorite. Their tortillas are sent from heaven. There are multiple locations in Abilene and this one is the best!

Great burritos anytime of the day....might make you fat as a hog if you eat here daily!

Absolute worst Mexican food I've ever had, the counter girl was nice but the cook had the same nasty attitude as her food. We will not ever return. Money down the drain! read more

What a great place to go to get some FRESH burritos! Many different choices and most burritos are less than $2. It may look similar to a "hole in the wall" type of building but it is definitely worth going in and trying. read more

This place is frikkin good. Great menu, excellent taste, prices are perfect, service is exceptional. This review is for the facility on Treadaway, but it goes for all 3 of their locations. Parking sucks at all of them - but only because they are always packed because they are THAT good!!! No drive through at the S14th location, but no matter. If you want drive though that bad, don't go to that one...you still have 2 others to choose from that do have drive through. Not sure why they charge extra for cheese though. But again, no matter. If you don't want to pay extra for cheese, bring your own. :) read more

I eat here sometimes just out of convenience. Their burritos are incredibly small and bland, and their salsa just flat sucks. Their limeade is usually pretty good. However, I came in last Saturday morning, and was disgusted. The burritos I ordered had egg, but I was surprised to find them filled with eggshell as well. Additionally, my limeade was 90% ice, so I couldn't even wash the texture and taste out of my mouth. I will not be back. I'll be going to the original Hernandez Bakery on Oak from here on. read more
