The only one that was friendly and nice was the cashier around 6:30pm on 3/9/26... the tv was nasty like sue glass cleaner and paper towels lord! It's crazy that they charge 28.8% of the chili burger's price to add cheese to it. And what is a chili burger without cheese? lol. So just know that a chili burger with cheese is ACTUALLY $3.08. But that aside, even though their prices have gone up significantly, they're still the cheapest place to eat in the neighborhood. We don't have this chain on the west coast, and I wouldn't have stopped, except that my brother said it was quite good. First thing I noticed, was that it smelled like old time Taco Bell restaurants in the 70s. That might sound weird, but it was an amazing memory - back to when Taco Bell sold food that they actually made in the restaurants fresh. In fact, The food was very similar, and quite delicious for the price. The portions were big, and tasted fresh. Tacos were actually filled all the way to the top and falling over. They have a type of enchilada called a Chilada that's a replica of old Taco Bell's Enchirito; one of my favorites as a teen. It's cheap at about $3.75 and filling! I stopped by here 3 time during my visit! I know it's just fast food Mexican... but it was great. Sad that there's not one closer to me than Texas. read more

We travel from West TX to Eastland area a lot to visit family and friends. We sometimes make the stop to grab Taco Casa since it's a chain that we (husband and kids) can all find something we like. My daughter will literally only eat a bean burrito with cheese and no sauce from here. This trip was super easy because my son and I only wanted nachos, my daughter wanted her regular burrito and my husband wanted a meat and cheese burrito. The lady taking out order was hard to understand and had the worst customer service!! You could tell she hated her job (my husband made that exact comment when he finished ordering). He specifically said "one bean burrito, no sauce and no onions", she was quick to snap back that it didn't come with onions. He said "oh ok". When she repeated the order back, we both heard bean burrito. When we got our food, we drove around to hand stuff out. My daughters be a burrito had green sauce in it?! And we had a random burrito with MEAT written not on it that ONLY had meat in it. My son and I only had half cups of very runny cheese sauce. My husband went back in and asked that that they replace the plain bean & chz burrito, we just let the cheese go. Both the drive thru lady and the manager argued with him over a $1.39 burrito saying she repeated the order and he was wrong & they WOULD NOT replace it!! Made a huge scene! When he snapped back that she was extremely hard to understand and we both heard 'bean' and not 'meat' they told him it had been a long day and he still needed to order another if that's what he wanted. If we didn't already have the other food and my daughter was hungry, we would've just left. He ordered another burrito and let them know that was our last stop there. There were maybe two-three other couples eating inside and around 5:30pm and you could smell the bathroom as you walked in, so that should've told us something. Very disappointing how this establishment had gone downhill. Just went to this north side taco casa and we went to the drive thru it took a long time recently the service here is terrible and my sister just got a mild bean burrito and it tasted so sour she almost threw up it has been so gross and greasy ! Taco Casa is a locally owned chain restaurant that is definitely proud of their Texas heritage. They have the usual "Mexican" fast food fare. Atmosphere: It is basically your typical fast food drive-thru restaurant. Inside is very reminiscent of the seating at the other Texas-proud fast food chain; Whataburger, but in a different color scheme. Bright and colorful and the condiments area is usually very well kept. The tables often need a self-cleaning, especially during busy lunch hours. Another quirk is that they play contemporary Christian music throughout the restaurant. Kudos to them for that. 1 Star Service: I have read reviews stating that an employee was rude and that the service was slow. Apparently these are people who have visited one single time and happened to find the one employee who was having a bad day. I have been here more times than I can count on all of my extremities. It is marvelous. Of course the tacos, burritos, and tostadas are also wonderful, but gimme that Chilada, in spades, please! 2 Stars So why would I give a fast food joint a 5 star rating? Am I comparing Taco Casa to a meal at Hugo's? Absolutely not. Once upon a time, a lil fella worked for Taco Bell in 1986 and it was good; they prepped most of the ingredients onsite and the food was fresh.....Sadly, clings changed and by 1992, everything was prepped in warehouses or some far away place and quality suffered. The lil fella grew older and longed for the days of a quick but satisfying taco like he had then. Fast forward to 2021 when our intrepid fella was lucky enough to find himself in Abilene. Lo and behold, Taco Casa was there and did the fella rejoice. He tasted what he had longed for! Was out riding around today when I stopped to fill up the gas tank I noticed Taco Casa. It opened up a few months ago had never been inside. Not really hungry but sure could use a tall glass of sweet, while sipping my 2nd refill low and behold if a couple buddies showed up for lunch. Joining them and eating off their plate the usual Tex Mex menu. I drilled them about how they felt it compared to other Mexican places around town. And I must agree what my nibbles told me, Its no Rosa's Café, not a Taco Bell but a close match for Taco Beano. Overall we all agreed " IT'STHE TYPE OF FOOD YOU EXPEXT TO FIND CLOSE TO WALMART." Maybe when they took the lard out of the retried beans? It just not as good as it was. I have been having a hard time finding good, fast TexMex here in Abilene. Taco Casa has been opened in Abilene for years, now. 's a little tucked It's away and I always forgot about it. I finally took the family here instead of Rosas on Taco Tuesday. Oh boy, did I find what I've been missing. The menu is old-school and I loved it. They have a Chillada that tastes exactly like the old Taco Bell Enchirito. You know, back when Bell actually cooked instead of microwaved. Remember how good their old red sauce was? I swear Taco Casa's tastes exactly the same! It was like nostalgia in my mouth. The tacos and burritos were really good. Plus, the make Taco Burgers as good as the old Bueno Burgers! I'm going to try the Taco Salad next time. It looked awesome, too. So, if you want to have dinner in Abilene circa 1983, give it a shot. Just a heads up, though. They make everything to order so expect to wait a few for your order. Trust me, it's totally worth it. My husband started eating here first. A friend of his from work invited him, and he came home and told me how good it was. How much you get for the price, along with plenty of cheese. My favorite! So we went and I ordered the Chilada. For me, it's huge! I usually take 1/2 of it home. And loaded with shredded cheese!! Yum! We eat here at least once a month. The reason for only 3 ? Twice now I have had hair inside my Chilada! That makes every other time we went!! Hmm. That's a little gross! And to top it off, there is an older gentleman working there, (probably about our age), who has informed me each time, (after he brings out a new order), that hair is the cleanest thing on our body. She was cutting me off and rushing me and I could tell I wasn't the only one when the person in front of me drove off angrily. When I pulled up a large guy was at the window and everyone seemed to be laughing about what had just happened. The ingredients are meat, cheese, tomato, etc. All those things that go into a taco. No chicken served here... everything is beef. Guess that makes your choices easier. I am currently sitting in the establishment with 10 other people. Not one person has food. We have been waiting 35 minutes. The cashier was nice but there was a language barrier and she could hardly understand our order. They just took our receipt and are having to make our order off of the receipt.
