I love Dr. Eric Shapiro and his PA Gary, but the office receptionist leaves something to be desired.
I had scheduled 4 consecutive gel shot appointments at 8am for each of those weeks. I went for my last gel shot on Thursday, February 14.
An attractive dark-skinned woman was at the reception desk when I signed in. She said there was no appointment for me and asked me if I wanted to reschedule. After driving for one hour in unusually heavy traffic - it normally takes me 15 to 20 minutes tops, I became extremely stressed out because I like to rest my knee for at least one day after my shot. She mentioned that someone would be coming in at 9:30.
A blond named Linda arrived and took over the reception desk. She said that I should have checked out last week and made the appointment. I did check out last week and my doctor, Eric Shapiro, said he would be away and his PA, Gary, would give me my shot.
She said there was nothing available but finally gave me an appointment for the next day (Thursday, February 15) at 10:15 AM. I was extremely upset! She never mentioned any availability later in the morning and I was too stressed at that moment to recall what the other woman had said.
As an afterthought (I wanted it in writing), I asked for an appt card. The receptionist then said, "PLEASE?" as in I should have said, "PLEASE MAY I HAVE AN APPT CARD!"
I said, "do you think you're my fucking teacher?"
I was so pissed and upset!!! I left the office with an appointment card and drove about 15 feet, when my daughter called me. I told her what had transpired and she said I should report the receptionist for poor treatment of a patient!
I called the office and spoke to Eulie. I got the receptionist's name - Linda. I was told Linda would be reprimanded!
Eulie was very supportive of my situation. I got so upset recounting the story to Eulie that I cried while I was on the phone!
When I went for my rescheduled gel shot the next day, Gary (Dr. Eric's PA) told me that he had been available at 9:30am on Thursday and Linda should have told me to wait.
He did not speak highly of Linda and wasn't surprised that she did not tell me of the appointment availability or schedule me for Gary's 9:30am slot. Gel shots only take 5-10 minutes!
This receptionist should not be allowed to interact with patients with her poor attitude and unkind manner. read more
