I checked my account just last night, and the appointment was still confirmed. No one ever attempted to contact me or cancel the booking. This experience was extremely unprofessional and disappointing coming from Sugaring NYC. Nicole is the esthetician who runs her business inside of the Reserve Salon & Spa, which is what you will find when you pull up the address in google maps. This business is within the Towne Lake Shopping center square and Cypress Wax Spa is located on the second floor in Room # 4. There is a very friendly receptionist when you enter from the 2nd floor, and numbers are posted outside of the Rooms/Suites. I was 10 minutes late because it was a bit unclear where the actual spa was located , but it was not a stressful experience because everyone was so friendly and helpful. Anyway, the entire experience was better than I actually anticipated. Nicole's station is immaculate, organized, and clean, and she is clearly well educated in her field, utilizing first class products. It was the most painless experience I've ever had, and she employs a plethora of organic and natural oils throughout the entire process. For my wax she did a quick refresh over my bikini area using jasmine cleansers and lavender oils, and then she communicated ingredients in what she was using when as she applied the product. She used both soft and hard wax, and walked me through her process every step of the way. What I really appreciated was her telling me when I would expect a more intense sensation during the waxing and when to breathe out since it had been a while due to being traumatized a few months back. She was consistently gentle in her approach and skill. Her communication skills were excellent. She did upsell me during my wax, but her pricing is extremely reasonable and the results are amazing. I can't tell you how much of a difference it makes when your esthetician is well versed in her craft and takes true pleasure in educating her clientele during the process. I was in the hands of a true professional, and I even went in for letting her use a high-frequency tool post waxing to reduce the breakout in a few spots caused by an ingrown hairs. Bottom line: Nicole knows what she's doing. She is a highly emotionally intelligent professional, she reads her customers body language ,and is not there to herd people in and out. I attempted to book an appointment by calling the listed number several times over multiple days, with no luck. I even submitted a message through the website, but never received a call back or email response. It was very difficult to get in touch with anyone. Eventually, after almost giving up, I finally reached someone on the phone. The stylist who answered came across as rude and dismissive. She told me the next available appointment was Saturday at 10 a.m., and when I agreed, she added, "If you're not going to come, you need to tell me the day before because I don't want to waste my time." That comment felt unprofessional, but I decided to go ahead anyway, even though the salon was an hour away from me. On the day of the appointment, I arrived 10 minutes early but couldn't find the specific suite, as the address provided didn't include that information. I called for clarification but, unsurprisingly, got no answer. After walking around and finally locating the suite, I was told to wait outside until exactly 10 a.m. When I was finally seen, I explained that I had purchased the Groupon for partial highlights and a haircut. I also showed reference photos for the color I wanted, not expecting an exact match, just something similar. However, she immediately started telling me she couldn't do what I was asking, claiming it wasn't technically highlights, or that I'd need to start over with a single-process color. She said she could only do a touch-up on the top and wouldn't touch the rest of my hair. I've had highlights done many times before and never encountered a stylist who flat-out refused to do the service, especially when the request was reasonable. At that point, it felt like she either didn't want to do the work or wasn't confident in her ability to do it properly. I paid for highlights, not a root touch-up. Given how uncomfortable and uneasy I felt, I decided not to move forward with the service not even the haircut. When I told her I was leaving, she accused me of being rude, and I told her honestly that her communication and attitude had been extremely unprofessional. She then began yelling at me, which only confirmed that walking out was the right decision. Afterward, I looked up other reviews and saw several similar complaints about her rudeness and poor quality of service. I would much rather waste the drive than risk having my hair ruined. I do not recommend this place. Save yourself the stress and go elsewhere.

As a man, I like my eyebrows to stay thick and natural, not thin and not shaped like a woman's eyebrows. I even showed her a picture of a man with thick eyebrows so there would be absolutely no confusion. Despite that, she completely ignored my instructions and ended up messing up one of my eyebrows by making it thinner than I asked for. When I pointed it out, instead of listening or acknowledging the mistake, she started arguing with me and insisting that I was the one who was wrong. That level of unprofessional behavior is unacceptable. If you're providing a service, the bare minimum is to listen to your customer and respect what they ask for. Instead, she kept contradicting me and making excuses instead of taking responsibility. I went there because of the positive reviews, but my experience was the complete opposite. She clearly does not listen to customers and does not know how to handle eyebrows for men. I would not recommend this place at all. I didn't let her finish my other eyebrow and left without paying, never coming back and glad of what I did.
