Casual noodle spot serving up Shan Xi dishes. We ordered pan fried dumplings, lamb shao mai , egg and tomato noodles, stir fried noodles and pop corn chicken. I would say the first four dishes are good, the pop corn chicken is okay but this dish is more Taiwanese , no need to order that here ( my kids really wanted crunchy but it turned out these were not as crunch as I like popcorn chicken to be). The lamb shao mai were really juicy and lamb-y , if you like lamb these are great. The pan fried dumplings , they tasted good (but nothing spectacular)and the bottom were nicely crisped, but if you are running out of tummy spaces you can skip these too. The stir fried noodles we really liked, you can really taste the flavors of the wok. A place we will consider going back for their other dishes.

Sliced pork noodles soup too salty $9.99

My visit to Noodle Max would be one of these unexplained phenomenon. I was really hoping to try this hyped up beef noodle place in Richmond Hill, only to have my hope squashed by a long line up at 4:20pm in the afternoon. 4:20!!! WTH!!! On a snowy, slushy late afternoon, I blindly (and slowly) drove my way aimlessly to Aurora. I remember some Asian restaurant getting rave reviews up in Aurora and that being Noodle Max (maybe it wasn't so aimless). If you are someone who believes in destiny, I can tell you destiny will occasionally give you sxxxxy things. Noodle Max would be one of them. Noodle Max's main offerings are Lan Zhou style noodles and was it ever an unauthentic and underwhelming experience. I wouldn't go as far to say the soup was tasteless like water, but it's pretty bland. While the soup for Lan Zhou noodles are not generally crazy strong in flavour, it should still have the taste of spices. The beef slices were also pretty tame in flavour. They were ok. The main plus about their noodle was the portion; quite big. The noodle had better texture than most store bought noodles, but it did not have the proper floury taste and the limited flavours from the soup was not able to hang onto the noodles. Aurora used to be a black hole in terms of dining options, but not anymore. How Noodle Max continued to garner such a high Yelp and Google rating befuddles me.

It used to be a place with average service but good quality food and fair pricing. Now it is a complete and Uther failure. The food is no longer good. The prices have increased dramatically and the service has gotten next level bad. The latest time I took takeout will be my last. Theyve gotten so cheap that they cannot even use a proper lid for a takeout box for a baked rice as seen in the picture. This place is no longer redeemable and I would avoid it at all cost I've been burned one to many times on the food.

Unfortunately one item was misunderstood and we received something different but it was still good. We ordered the beef with flat rice noodles and the baked pork chop on rice but requested it with chicken. We ended up getting the half/half cream sauce/tomato sauce with chicken and pork. I think I confused her when I asked for chicken however it is on the menu as baked pork chop OR chicken. Maybe it's just not a common request. Anyways, it was still pretty good, the pork chop and chicken were both tender, the rice was slightly golden in colour, I do wish it was a bit more fried rice-like. There was lots of sauce and cheese. The cream sauce had a distinct coconut flavour which was a bit odd but not entirely unpleasant. The beef noodles were great, gigantic portion, steaming hot and plenty of wok hei. We ordered cold lemon tea for our drinks, cold drinks were $1 extra, but it was worthwhile. The tea was made to order and it was perfectly sweet, lemony and not at all bitter. Prices were really affordable which is part of the HK cafe appeal. I think for the two dishes plus the drinks it came out to less than $35 and we both had plenty of leftovers. Value is definitely there. Overall it's a good option for HK cafe food in Aurora. Most of these restaurants are opening in Newmarket so this is a good option closer to home. Personally I feel that there are better choices in Newmarket but for proximity/value/taste I will definitely order from here again. I'd like to try some other dishes as well, I see they have some Cantonese style dishes that look good!

On top of the base charge, you must pay for at least 2 soup bases & this charge is pretty steep too; most other hotpot places either include the soups or charge only for premium soups. Even places that charge for soups don't charge up to $12 as this place does. At least the soups are very good - both tomato & pork bone were tasty. You get to mix your own sauces. Most are good, but sesame is super dilute. There's quite a variety of ingredients you can put in your hotpot. One category is skewers, which you can get yourself from the fridge. They are small & cook fast. The shrimp is quite fresh. The fishballs come with meat inside. Neither fish nor lobster balls are bouncy, though beef balls are pretty bouncy. There is one included cooked dish: crispy pork. It's sliced into finger shapes & is moist, crispy, flavourful & slightly spicy. A pity that they don't offer more cooked dishes! They have frog legs - so far I haven't found another place with that. They also have shrimp paste (other places give fish paste), which is good. For dessert there's fried buns which are neither hot nor crispy, served with watery condensed milk. There's also canned fruit bowls & 6 flavours of ice cream - the usual cheap ice cream with some ice crystals.

SO flavorful and so darn goood. No pesky Szechuan peppers in the broth to bother you while you fish out your cooked food. The service was super on point. The guy who works there was superb, he was friendly, not pushy and was super attentive if we needed something. We had a great experience but for the two of us - the bill still came over 130 with tip which is still more expensive than most hotpot places. The location is super convenience and the selection is pretty wide. I love the sweet potato noodles, the quail eggs and the broth. Wish they had the fried bean rolls. If you're craving something super spicy, come here - they will not disappoint you! Happy eating fellow yelpers!
