I was here for dinner today. Decent menu. No dine-in option, only carry-out but the food was real good.

El Caporal Mexican Grocery - Dos asada tacos, una asada torta, una coca!

El Caporal Mexican Grocery

Best grocery store tacos ever!…read more Yes, you read that right. There is an excellent little taqueria tucked away inside this nearly invisible Mexican Grocery Store in St. Charles. The setting could not be any more informal or the fare any more authentic. Three tables with green/white checkered vinyl table cloths, metal chairs, basic napkin dispensers and crazy good tacos! I had four asada and one chicharrones & chilis with ample amounts of both the verde and red salsa. Hot sweaty yum! No better food has ever been served on a stirofoam plate. You can also get burritos, tortas and quesadillas if the mood strikes you but it was all about the tacos for me and at $2 each you can really load up. The staff is very friendly, downright sweet. You can also do a little grocery shopping while you're there. Oh, and I snagged an authentic lava rock molcajete (mortar and pestle). A great value st $24. Excelente!

I always order carne asada street tacos. Comes with red/green salsa, not too spicy on the side. You can add onions and cilantro, not overwhelming. I'm Mexican so that says alot. Been going here for 2 decades. Street taco prices!! When you are inside, you feel like being in Mexico Overall a WONDERFUL experience to add to your life ... This place has both men's and women's skirts, shirts and pant sets premade and well tailored. The prices are good - the sets are around 20-30 each, whereas just buying the fabric itself can be that much depending on how much you buy. They also sell secondhand shoes and clothes, and toiletries also. They also sell phone cards, specializing in African phone cards.

I visited a few times and unfortunately it got worst with each visits. Pros: 1. Can find international items (mostly Jamaican & African) from my observations 2. Located right off Olive & 170, easily accessible Cons: 1.Building needs serious working (water leakage & roden identified). Owner was very receptive when I noted the rodent 2. Cashier is not friendly. Handling items rough when searching for barcodes, it's like she is going to rip the packages open 3. Prices are no longer transparent. Removed off almost all items in the store. 4. Items can be pricey (maybe due to tariff) 5. Expired items are still on shelf Recommendations: Shop at your own risk. If you do go, examine items closely. Suggest items in a sealed original bag or items where the outer layer is trash.

The prices are decent better than the other Indian stores I have been to. They also carry hand cooked rotis, which are just awesome. They have samosa's, mirch pakoras, aloo bonda's and chicken puffs ( all freshly made). Don't forget to enjoy their complementary chai!

This is so close to home it will certainly be our place for Indian cooking ingredients. They have a very complete array of the things you would expect. It is not a large place, but I was impressed with their selection. For example, you expect the extensive range of pre-mixed masalas for every conceivable dish, but Bombay Bazar has this array in at least four major brands. It is almost overwhelming. The breadth of selection is true for most areas, from rice to flour to any of the dry pulses you could want. They also have a good refrigerated section as well as some fresh produce. Since having some very good Channa Masala in Chicago last weekend, I have been craving Indian cooking. This visit aggravated that condition. Bombay Bazar is a welcome addition to the community. I wish them well so that we have this source close at hand.

I was pleasantly surprised with everything. When you walk in, you grab your own menu and you seat yourself. They have high top tables, booths, low tables and a conversation area with comfy furniture. You place your order at the counter and pay ahead. They give you a number to place on your table and they bring your food out. The first thing that impressed me is that the food menu is local and organic. They offer organic coffees, so many teas and tea accessories, herbs. Their cafe menu has many vegan and vegetarian options. The service was friendly and helpful. Our drink order came out almost immediately, and our food came out fairly quickly. I really enjoyed my breakfast bowl that I added avocado. It was quite nourishing and flavorful. I don't know how they cooked the sweet potatoes absolutely perfect. I also ordered a protein cookie to eat later. What absolutely blew me away was my lavender Matcha iced drink. It was the best Matcha I've ever had. They also have an area with various hot sauces and so many flavors of infused, honey. They have various types of sugar, agave and Stevia, but you will not find any Splenda or equal here. So if you are sugar-free and don't like Stevia, bring some from home. I really liked the whole vibe of this place, the food and the beverages. I will definitely be back soon. Please note that they are closed on Sundays and Mondays.

Their tea selection is excellent, with flavorful herbal blends that also focus on wellness and immunity, plus mushroom coffees and a few gluten-free sweet treats. My husband loved the avocado toast, and I had the eggs and greens (small), which was surprisingly filling and delicious. Everything comes beautifully topped with fresh microgreens. Groovy music, a cute little kids' area, and a peaceful atmosphere made it an especially relaxing stop on a rainy day. I hear it gets busy on Saturdays, and I can see why -- it's a unique, welcoming spot. I gave it a 4 star because you have to order at the table.
