We purchased our wedding bands from Shane Co. we asked them about redipping my wife's ring which they knew was not purchased there. They said yes. They we asked them if we can solder the two bands to her ring which they knew wasn't purchased there and they said yes. All lies. We took the ring there to have all this work done and all of the sudden they would not do any of the work as promised. Said it would compromise the ring. They over charged us for a work around. After the wedding we took it to an actual professional who was able to do exactly what we asked. Do not go here and do not believe anything they say. Let me start off by saying that if I could give this place a negative 5 star rating, I would. I went in to get a men's wedding band for myself. I found the absolute perfect ring and fell completely in love with it. The ring was a half size too small so they sent it out for it to be resized. When I went to pick the ring up, it looked completely different. The ring was supposed to have a raised center, which was off-white, cream-ish in color. Apparently during the resizing process they took off the entire finish from it, leaving it as just a plain silver band. They apologized for the mistake and told me that they would fix it. They had no idea or inventory what it looked like before, so the jewelers attempted to duplicate it from the picture that I had. Two different jewelers tried multiple times to get the ring how it was, but it was not right. They even managed to accidentally swap it with another ring and the entire design of the ring had changed. They tried to ship in rings that were made around the same time, but none of them were the same. Apparently the manufacturer was the one who made the ring's finish... Meaning they had COMPLETELY destroyed my ONE OF A KIND ring. The ring ended up being a dark, gray color in the end. They tried to tell me they were "sorry but there's nothing they can do and no matter what the jeweler does it will turn out the same" and not the way I wanted it and offered me a lousy $10 gift certificate to a coffee shop, which does not even compare to my $1500 ring. Horrible experience. We came in to shop for a ring and we walked around an entire store twice without a single associate saying a word to us. It took forever to get anyone to help us, the first girl who offered to help disappeared, the second girl awkwardly pestered me even though I explained to her that someone was already helping me, she then brought me two rings so small it was almost insulting, then waved me to go to the other side of the store. I had no clue where she told me to go and why, especially since I didn't love either of the rings. DO NOT customize your jewelry from Shane Co. unless you want to be disappointed and angry. I waited a while to write this review but I'm so fed up with the Shane Company right now. I picked out my engagement ring and selected one that would allow me to replace the center row of diamonds with my husbands birthstone (rubies). The staff rushed or to whoever supplied the band to make sure they could make the customization. About a week later we had the go ahead to customize the ring. My husband paid in full (since it was customized and we had to) and then we waited 6 weeks for the ring to arrive. When he picked it up he instantly knew the "ruby" center band was wrong. It looked pinkish purple. But the staff told him they were for sure rubies and that I was going to love it. He showed the ring to a bunch of people and they said, "I thought those were supposed to be your birthstone, why are they pink?". I didn't like the ring. I looked at the other pieces in the store and wondered why my ring would come in pink if all the other jewelry in the store had RED rubies. They then told us that they send the ring back to the vendor and basically had no control after that. So, now I'm married and my center diamond is placed on a solitaire band. Everyone is asking to see my ring, which I don't have because we had to send it back to get fixed. Annoying. But I'm excited to get the new piece back looking as it should. Three weeks later I drive 3 hours to the store to see a couple different ruby options. At that point I'm confused because they said they had to send the ring back overseas to get fixed. But they had the rubies going in my ring at the Salt Lake store. Why do they have to ship the ring back if they have the rubies in shop? Don't know. I am told it will still take another month or so to get the ring back. We are finally notified that the new "fixed" ring is back in store. So we drive 3 hours to get the ring and at that point in time I'm just excited to have it back and I look at the colors of the rubies. The rubies were the right color so I drop off my center diamond and have them set it. They kindly overnighted us the ring since we couldn't wait a few days for their guy in shop to set the diamond. I get the ring and start to notice all of the imperfections. Everyday I have to see the staggered rubies, some up higher and some lower, some half covered. It looked awful, but the rubies were the right color this time. Finally I broke down bawling to my husband about the ring. We spent thousands on a non refundable customized piece of jewelry and it looked like crap. I was so grateful to have it but I was so disappointed in the quality of it. My husband took the ring last weekend to the store to show it to the managers. He finds out that the new rubies came from a different vendor than the one who made the band and that someone hand set the rubies and that's why it wasn't straight. THEY NEVER TOLD US THAT THE RUBIES WERE GOING TO BE HAND SET. THEY DIDN'T ASK IF IT WAS OKAY, THEY JUST ASSUMED WE WOULD BE OKAY WITH IT. Finally, they agree to refund my husband. They are now supposed to take my center diamond and set it in a very simple band. This center diamond was nearly flawless. I was always complemented on the diamond. I loved the diamond. So all Shane Co has to do is set the diamond. They call my husband back a couple of days later to tell him that THEY CHIPPED MY FLAWLESS PERFECT FAVORITE HAND CHOSEN DIAMOND. WE ARE SICK OF THE SHANE COMPANY. All we want to do is be refunded for the center diamond and we want to return my husbands band because we want nothing to do with this company anymore. We called customer service and supposedly were transferred to a line that goes pretty much directly to Tom Shane. We were told we would be contacted within 24 hours to have a representative get a hold of us. Even on this Thanksgiving/Holiday week. When it was time to purchase an engagement ring, I studied several jewelers and thought that Shane Co. made the best sense since they advertised a warranty that others would not provide. This and the last great experience I had led me to them again, even though I had to drive from Kaysville over 30 miles. Once again, I gave them my budget, and found the perfect ring and center diamond for it. Later, my fiancé and I went to Shane Co. to buy my wedding band. Again, it was a piece of cake. I told them what we were looking for, gave them our budget, and found a ring. Then it happened. The unthinkable. 4 years and 6 months after purchasing my wife's engagement ring. We went to a clients house of my wife. As she started the class, she looked down and noticed the center diamond and prongs were gone, the stem broken at the base. We searched at Walmart, Harmon's, at home and the clients home, everywhere my wife had been that day. We searched with metal detectors, we searched in the dark with high powered flash lights. We had the neighborhood kids searching through the grass and in the driveway. We had people with a powerful shop vac going through the grass with a nylon over the vacuums hoping to find it. We did this for several days involving up to 30 people. We were completely in shock and sick. This diamond was gone. I was greeted warmly as usual by a woman named Sadie. I pulled the ring out of my pocket and told her that the center diamond and prongs were lost. She expressed her condolences for the problem and went to the computer to pull up my account. Another gentlemen came up and said he would take the ring back to wash it. This was it, the games were about to begin. Something behind the scenes. I was waiting for the dagger. She said she was going to look and see if she had any similar diamonds in stock. In my mind, I was sure in a round about way, she was going to sell me another diamond. I was still waiting for the dagger. After inspecting the diamond, I very clearly asked her if this was all taken care of under warranty. She said "yes, you bought your ring from the right place". I was still suspicious, but decided to call my wife to come to the store to pick out her new diamond. Since I was so impressed with how easy it was for them to honor the warranty, I told my wife to pick out another wedding band, so we won't worry so much about her wearing the large diamond everyday in the future. We went to the register to pay for the new wedding band. I noticed that the diamond they were replacing our old diamond with was about $1100 more then we had paid for ours 4 years and 6 months ago. The diamond we have now (chosen by my wife) is bigger. She decided to take a slight increase in size over a slight downgrade in color. Go with confidence, go relaxed, and enjoy the experience. There's nothing to worry about...ever. My wife and I have already told so many people about what had happened. All we keep hearing is "We had to buy our replacement" or "My jeweler wouldn't do that". It turns out she was helping another couple with an engagement ring even though we were there first. We paid $4,000 for the setting but it has 1.55 carats of diamonds in the setting alone. If we bought this anywhere else it would have been probably double. I highly recommend Shane and Co. They don't mass produce their settings either. In fact, they usually only have 2-3 rings of only one exact ring. This means you won't be walking around seeing thousand or more women with the same ring. That was a big perk for me to be honest. I'm extremely picky and I am beyond thrilled with my ring. Center stone is 1.4 carats so with the diamond and setting its just under 3 carats. The setting is worth every penny it will be something I'll love wearing for years. read more

My fiancé and I were pressed for time in finding an engagement ring, as he was only in town for a week. We were also wary of shopping for diamonds--we both dislike high-pressure sales situations. When we got to Shane, we were both pleasantly surprised. I had browsed the Shane Co. website, and knew what I liked. The salespeople brought out exactly the type of settings I wanted immediately, and gave us a variety of stones to choose from within our price range. They also educated us about diamonds, which was very interesting. We ended up getting a gorgeous diamond solitaire and pavé wedding band for $1000 less than our fairly modest budget limit, and I couldn't be happier. Shane Co. also accommodated our tight schedule--I called them to see if they could rush the setting and sizing process so that we could get the ring before my fiancé left town, and they did, free of charge! I was impressed by their friendly, non-pushy salespeople, and excellent customer service. They also have a good warranty policy. My only suggestions: offer a bigger selection of stones in unique cuts (mine is oval, and there was only one with the proportions I liked), and give more information about the finished product before purchase (the display ring had four prongs, but my finished ring has 6). read more
