Our stay here was perfect!!! Ocala is beautiful city and I found this historical motel in the heart of Ocala.We were treated here like a family with love and respect. This motel is nothing like others.Very unique,antique and historical place.I felt like I was sleeping in the museum.The interior here is very cozy and beautiful in baroque style.Diana did wonderful job in this place with love!!! If you are looking for the place for photoshoot you got it!Every room is different.Lots of small and cute details in rooms. Also I was satisfied about how clean this place is.We had room 10, for 2 nights but still they made our room and changed towels when we were out.It was very nice. Thank you! The only thing bothered me is the noise.Bcz of the location.This motel on the main street so in the morning it's hard to sleep.And we really enjoyed the seating on patio but it was loud.So my suggestion take the earplugs and enjoy your rest here))) Otherwise,this was enjoyable and unique stay.I would love to come back with earplugs)))Thanks to Diana again for this interesting place.This place made me feel luke I went to the past!) read more

Very nice stay and clean updated rooms. Be beware, after you have checked out, check your credit card! You may find a surprise! Like being charged for damaged towels that weren't really damaged! So you get a great price and a pretty decent stay, but then you pay for it after you leave! Beware of this sneaky practice and so called strict policy for towel usage! read more

While traveling I search to find unique, eccentric places to stay at. The Shamrock Historic Inn fits that bill. Very intersting decorating, each room has a different theme. . I chose this Inn based on its location and Yelp reviews. We wanted a place to stay for a kayak trip we were taking in Ocala. When I made the initial reservation I discovered that it is pay up front and non-refundable. An hour after making the reservation I found out that I couldn't make the trip. I called the owner and explained the situation and she said that while she couldn't give me a refund she would honor the reservation at a later time. Two weeks later I called her on a Thursday and asked for Friday and Saturday nights. She agreed since it was a slow season and I was very pleased. When we arrived I was slightly apprehensive. The Inn looks like an old motel from the 60s. As soon as I walked in to the office to check in I was sold. Inside is an eclectic mix of flowers, Knick Knacks and antiques of unknown origin. Cluttered, but in a very homey way that made me very comfortable. The lady who checked us in explained that the owners were away for the day and that she was helping out by watching the place for them. She has a great, quirky, personality that initially makes you wonder if she knows what she is doing but was very efficient and even walked us to our room. I was correct that this is a rehabbed motel. It is, however, a quaint, kitschy place with each room having a different theme. Ours was a Golf theme and I am not a golfer but it was great. A small refrigerator, complete with a chilled botttle of Chardonnay and a selection of chocolates was pleasantly surprising. The decor was, like the office, somewhat randomly decorated which for us just added to the charm. We had a trailer with two kayaks and had plenty of room to park. We had a great weekend and will certainly be back there as soon as we can get away. read more

This is a great place for people who want to support small businesses owned by regular individuals instead of corporate America. Shamrock Inn is a charming, quirky little motor lodge right in Ocala, lovingly curated by a normal family, cat and Yorkie. The Yorkie will try to get your attention by bringing out her toys, twirling and begging. We had a very lovely stay here and enjoyed our own little patio with some beautiful plants, comfy chairs and a nice bottle of wine, compliments of the management. Very, very disappointing. Upon arrival we were shown the room by a housekeeper on duty. Very nice woman who desired to be helpful. When the room door was opened we wished we did not pay in advance. We would have left. It was not furnished in an "eclectic" style mentioned by other reviews. It was furnished in a style that would have been rejected by a consignment shop. Numerous throw pillows that were not cleaned. The room was very small. The linens appeared clean. That was certainly good. The wine provided was not the quality of two buck chuck. Clearly undrinkable. The bathroom was tiny. No space to turn. No safe place to plug anything in. I've stayed in 500-1000 of places over the years. This one was amongst the worst. Ov, location was awful as well. Lots of street noise. Beware! read more

We Really enjoyed our stay at this place. It was a great, Indy motel, that you could tell someone really took pride in fixing up. It's an older, smaller place, but we actually stayed in 2 different rooms. On the way there, we stayed in room 10 (The golf room). Clean, comfortable. They gave me a free bottle of wine and chocolate. Really beautiful outside plants. It's like a jungle that distracts you from the busy loud street. They did a great job in creating an enjoyable nature environment. We sat outside, drank our wine, looked at the plants. It was very nice. Great for pet lovers too. We brought 2 dogs. On the way back, we stayed in room 4. a bit smaller, but still warm, hospitable, and clean. Great place. I would stay again. read more

The owner, her husband and the housekeeper are all very nice and are trying hard to make a good living in a competitive business. They have taken an old motel and converted it to a unique place to stay. However, the outdoors is cluttered with unkept and dying plants (taking into consideration it is winter!). Pots are shattered from the roots overgrown, tabletops and chairs are dirty, a very cluttered, overly decorated patio. Then there is the room. It's an old motel so it's very small. Ours had a king bed and a daybed with a large dresser upon which sat a very large flat screen tv which would have been nice to view but the posts from the bed were in the way. Room for only one person to pass between the bed and dresser to the small bathroom which is over decorated, with grungy tub. We had paid for 2 nights (big mistake because they don't give refunds!) and after the first night we woke up with sore backs from the overly padded (all foam, no springs) mattress. So we pulled off 3 layers of extra fluff and found badly stained bedding, one stain is questionably blood. At that point we just packed up and left. No refund for the 2nd night. read more

I recently stayed here and the place is wonderful! Its very homey and cozy felt like being at home. It was very clean, comfy beds and enjoyed my stay! The owners are very helpful and make you feel right at home, they even gave me snacks to have at night! then breakfast foods the next morning! Its charming and lovely and reminds you more of a bed and breakfast than a hotel. the shower was excellent! great pressure like a massage! We were looking for a place to stay for one night in downtown Ocala. My wife found this place on the web and she was instantly in love. We enjoy the unique and different. It is even more charming and quaint in real life. We easily walked to our destination that evening. Literally, Ocala's historic district is right there. The room was charming and the bed is outstanding. If we didn't have an equally nice bed at home, I might have had to drag my wife out of that bed. It is an old motel on a busy street, however the owners have put a lot time, money (the beds alone) and love into this gem. Anytime we stay in Ocala, this is our place! I made an initial bad review on Google, and the owner started harassing my personal phone late at night, and wouldn't stop, even after I asked her to. She also stalked my social media page and harassed my family members on Facebook following the review. The motel is in a Bad location, with a view of a tire shop. Has a smoke/mildew smell-so much so that my daughter had a bad asthma reaction. The Owner was rude after I expressed my concerns when we were still there.I made the initial reservation over the phone, while we were still hours away, so I didn't know what we were getting into. When we arrived And I saw what it was, we should have left, but we were tired and I had already given my credit card number and all of my personal information. I don't like conflict so I went ahead and reluctantly signed the receipt. We had to air out the stinky room for 45 minutes with the door open. I finally checked the price online and looked at their website that night. I realized I was way overcharged. I feel that I was taken advantage of since I was charged $160 for a weekday night, when the online price showed $85. I only slept 3.5 hours since the bed was uncomfortable and I felt unsafe on that busy road with my little ones. Horrible experience! read more

This place is an ABSOLUTE surprise! We pulled into the parking lot and were like "HUH?" - it's an old motor lodge/roadside motel that has been converted into something quirky, adorable and welcoming! The Shamrock Inn is precious. Every little attention to detail makes this place unique. Our room (The Key West Room) was absolutely precious. You can tell that someone put a lot of love into decorating it. Each room has its own theme and decor. There are tables and lounging areas all around the property. They are dog friendly and obvious animal lovers! I wished we could've stayed longer. My boyfriend and I have decided to make it an annual thing - we will go up and stay on our way to Rainbow Springs. read more

I was pleasantly surprised by the sanctuary they have created here. You would not know this gem exists by the busy road just outside. However, when you step into your room you are taken aback by the attention to detail. They are a pet friendly hotel yet my room was immaculate and did not smell like pets. This was a total surprise stay. We still had a three hour drive ahead of us, but were beat. A quick Yelp search turned up the Shamrock Historic Inn showing a 5 star rating. That was good enough for us, and thank goodness because my wife would NEVER consider a roadside motel, which is what the Shamrock is. After talking with the owner on the phone, who is wonderful by the way, we booked a room and made the remaining 20 min drive. When we pulled up and saw this was a motel my wife said, "Oh no!" and I said, "Oh Yes!" But as we drove into the parking lot we could see this was no ordinary motel. Outdoor seating, a gazebo, flowers and plants everywhere. Creative signs and furniture. This place rocked! Our 'Mediterranean' room was fantastic. Giant flat screen tv, fridge, microwave, massive king size bed and furnished in a cool Mediterranean style. Most important... it was CLEAN and the bed was comfortable. We are the kind of folks that sleep 6 hours a night max. Here... we slept 8 1/2 hours. The room was perfect. So if you are anywhere near the area, there simply isn't any other choice. You'll definitely get far more than your money's worth here. I can tell you this for sure... we are so happy we stayed here and we will be back! Wow! Looking for a hotel in Ocalla and this was the closest. Little did I know it would also be the most charming and hospitable. This place is really a gem tucked away along a busy street. Spent Christmas in Ocala and stayed here at the Shamrock. This is a small mom and pop type of place - was probably an old highway motel from the 50's - only about 12 rooms. The rooms here are not like regular hotel rooms - they are unique - quaint and cozy - like walking back into an earlier time and place. Our stay at this historic inn was most enjoyable. Our charming room was quite and clean with a comfortable bed and a much appreciated wi-fi system that was better than average. Owners and staff are most accommodating and friendly and the rates are competitive. The morning of our departure my wife's departing comment as we left our room was "Sweetheart, I really enjoyed our stay here". A happy wife makes for a good life! read more

Do not stay here. The owner will charge you an additional $16 per night for every little thing. The prices on the website are much lower than they are in person and when you arrive you are expected to pay all these additional fees. The "inn" aka motel is cute but NOT worth almost $200 per night. I booked four rooms for my family members and the owner waited until I left to charge my family an additional $100 and claim it was a discount. Ridiculous. And my AC unit leaked the whole time we were there (we informed the guest keeper) and our unit was put on 80 when we left it on 70. Save your money and stay at a nicer hotel. read more

Wow! What a diamond in the rough! You must see the inside of the rooms. Each one has a unique decor--not like any chain hotel room. The decor is cozy and comfortable. Lots of personal touches-Victorianesque. Painted dressing screen, flowers, crocheted quilts, flowered sheets. Too many wonderful touches to name. There is a refrig and flat screen TV along with bottled water. I hear there are breakfast treats although I haven't checked them out yet. read more

We booked via expedia at the last minute when we decided to stay in town when visiting a relative in Lady Lake instead of driving back home. Best decision ever! This was a fantastic find. Very shabby antique sheek. Loved the owners.. so helpful and kind. Talked with them as if we were friends for years. This is an extremely charming inn, a motel built in the 40s on a busy street but you won't realize it! Redone with antiques and eclectic art work, cabanas and tons of tropical plants. The beds have nice linens, lots of comfy pillows (my bed was antique iron) and incredibly comfortable, quiet too. The small staff was so friendly and helpful; my friends staying at the expensive chain hotels were jealous. This inn has character and personality! Not as amazing as other reviewers make it out to be. The thought that comes to mind is "lipstick on a pig". I was actually pretty excited to stay in a non-traditional hotel and save a little cash.. but that excitement did not last long, unfortunately. The motel is located right off a busy main road and if you decide to sit outside, you'll be watching traffic and the glowing sign from the tire place across the street. It was obviously "converted" from a cheap motel into a... um... prettied up cheap motel? The room I was in was "golf themed", I guess. The decor was quirky / eclectic, you could say. Unfortunately, the bed was uncomfortable and the old house smell was not pleasant. The rooms are cooled by window units and mine was not healthy. Even with the fan going full speed, and I hate sleeping with fans on, it wasn't cold enough to get a good night's sleep. On top of that, they said they have wifi... and you can connect to their router... but don't expect to get to your websites... so basically there was no internet. I brought both of these issues to their attention a few times and the response was something along the lines of well, nobody has complained yet, so too bad. She did try to blame the internet issue on a storm that had recently come through... and yet, also claimed she was streaming Netflix without any problems, as if to say it was me. Basically, if you really need to save about $20 a night over somewhere like Holiday Inn Express, and are willing to give up internet, a comfortable bed, good air conditioning and a decent view... go for it. I'll be staying somewhere else next time. read more
