One star because the sheets were clean and the staff were friendly. If we weren't so exhausted from the drive, I would have left the moment we saw the (WAY overpriced) room. This should actually be a Motel 6 and not allowed to carry the Hilton name. The carpets were filthy, there were cobwebs and what looked like grass clippings splayed on the curtain valance. No money has been spent on this property - clearly, and they're just milking it for every cent from the horse community. Cold/lukewarm shower with ZERO water pressure. It took me a good 5 minutes to get my shampoo rinsed out. A baby roach crawled out of the sink hole when I turned on water to brush my teeth. No amenities except a well worn packet that said "makeup remover" (LOL I'm not putting that on my face!!!) and the Hilton "Zero" refillable shampoo, conditioner, and body wash that no one uses...unless they're desperate. I'm not expecting L'occitane, but I'm not touching that... The WORST PART that they don't tell you - you're feet from the interstate with a SECOND service road used by 18 wheelers racing through the night, mere steps away from where you're trying to sleep. This place was a nightmare. Breakfast included rotten bananas, and nothing looked clean or fresh. So, I went to Publix to buy breakfast. I canceled my room more then 3 days in advance and I was charged for room. I contacted the manager informing her that I have gold status and I stay in Hilton properties over 50 times a year. The manager Susan Perkins denied my request. As a loyal Hilton customer, I have always appreciated the flexibility and understanding that the brand has shown its members. However, it is disheartening to learn that in this instance, over a charge of $234, there seems to be no room for flexibility. This decision seems to undermine the loyalty that Hilton has built with its customers over the years. Such rigidity can tarnish the Hilton brand and potentially erode customer loyalty, which I believe is far more valuable than the monetary amount in question. read more

The hotel is on I-75. One side is quiet the other almost impossible to sleep. For many years I have been able to successfully request a room on the quiet side. Starting this year over 1/3 of my bi- monthly visits have had my room moved to the freeway side. Very clean rooms. Its right off 75 so perfect on your way up north of down south. Pet friendly. The only issue I have is the walls are thin and you can hear talking next door and the highway traffic- but they give you earplugs! I'll take that noise day over cleanliness issues. The breakfast bar is supposed to be open and stocked from 0630 to 0930. It was not and when mentioned that the pancake batter, eggs, etc were empty the service person was upset and rolled her eyes at me and my children. The rooms are okay but very dated and even the closet door did work. Most like old and people probably just never cleaned the tracks. The gentleman who helped us check in last night (because the digital key wouldn't load) was very pleasant and helpful. My wife and I stayed there on multiple occasions while we were attending a new job site start up. We had a small dog with us and that was not a problem. The staff made sure we enjoyed our time there. We even had to change rooms once to go to the top floor because the people on our floor were having parties every night of the week and I go to work prior to 6 AM every morning. The staff was beyond accommodating. The morning breakfast was fantastic. Our little Chihuahua love the eggs. They were not instant. The bacon was really good. I let hubs take the reins with planning this stay. We had an appointment the following day to meet with a realtor and explore homes. Hubs is the Hilton expert since he does jobs on many of their properties. We usually look for hotels that are pet friendly, are clean, preferably have breakfast included, reasonably priced, and close to whatever destination we are visiting. Neither of us have been to Ocala so we actually had no inclination about the surrounding area. We checked in late at night, due to working earlier in the day. The check in process took longer than usual but at least it happened. As soon as you walk in, the lobby was very nice looking and clean. Too many hotel lobbies look like garbage so this was nice. The room was nice as well. Like most places we stay at, we are just looking for a place to sleep and shower. I shower at night so I did just that and simply because I hate rushing in the morning. The shower was great. The pressure was good, the water was warm, and I did not recall noticing mold anywhere. The breakfast was kind of sad. We did show up about an hour before it ended but there was not much left and there were not many refills. We had a long day ahead of us and we were able to have enough to get us through. We requested a later check out since our realtor could not meet us until later in the afternoon. We were granted until noon, which was very much appreciated. Another plus is we were not bothered repeatedly by housekeeping. Our dog barks when someone is knocking at the door, naturally, so we prefer when that happens at a minimum or not at all. BEWARE Pooping Santa!!! lol No really read on..... This is our second time staying here when traveling in Ocala. First time was better. 5 star but this time, we are on the 3rd floor. It stinks really bad and then it smells like they have tried to cover the odor with a sickening sweet candy or fruity odor. Luckily our room does not smell like the hall. When getting coffee this morning down in the lobby, we discovered a plastic poster on the bathroom door in the hall of Santa with his pants sitting on a toilet! Wow that's pretty gauche! We got a good chuckle but seriously!!??!??? I'll attach a photo so you can set your eyes on this poster! Coffee here is better than what they had at Denny's. Seriously - the lightening felt like it was within 20 ft of the hotel and the rain was coming down hard! Checkin was super easy - i have the app but stopped in and said hi. Staff was very nice! I was there for a seminar being held in the meeting room and it was clean and comfortable. I will be returning there in a couple of months for part two of the seminar and am looking forward to it! I stay here frequently, so this is not based on one visit. From check-in to check out, this hotel delivers the goods. Reasonably priced, clean and recently renovated. The lobby area is extremely large with four or five TVs. In the evening there are cookies and lemonade out for guests. There are hot tea and coffee containers out 24/7. Rooms are always clean and smell fresh. When I once came across a room I was displeased with, I was switched within 3 minutes, such a pleasure after a long day. Breakfast is the standard Hampton faire, with eggs, toast, waffles, juice, oatmeal and all sorts of extras. Really really feel comfortable here. read more

Last time I visited my parents I stayed here at the Hampton Inn (my brother had already claimed the spare bedroom at my parent's house) and was pleasantly surprised by some of the 'little things'. First off, check in was quick and easy. The desk person, whose name escapes me, was very pleasant and over the course of my stay the front desk folks greeted us nicely each time we entered or left the hotel. My room was a single king with a nice sized refrigerator and I was actually quite happy with the bed and pillows (I've been at other Hamptons that needed new bedding). The size of the bathroom was perfectly fine for what I needed, but I happen to be a stickler for strong water pressure in a hotel and this place didn't have it. Towels were plentiful and the toiletries were stocked daily when they cleaned the room. Also a HUGE fan of the television actually having a channel guide on it so I didn't have to flip through all the channels to see what was on TV. I also had zero problems with the Wi-Fi Breakfast was your Hampton Inn standard...not a fan of most hotel breakfasts unless they are a regular restaurant - so we went out for breakfast while we were there. This hotel is perfectly acceptable for your normal "I need to stay someplace" kind of visit. I've had the opportunity to stay in some really great hotels over the years so getting four stars out of me for a local place like this is next to impossible, but three stars for me is as good as "I'd definitelystay here again"! read more

Great service, clean and comfortable. My only issue with this particular hotel was the flooring. Every time I moved around the room it sounded like I had cement boots on. It was so loud! I decided to stay here after sitting in traffic on 75 for 3 hours to go 6 miles due to an accident. I was moving back down to Tampa from Atlanta and had my kitties with me and we'd been driving for 8 hours already. To say I was stressed out is an understatement. I get here and there's so many kids in for a baseball event in town. Running and jumping and stomping, I knew the second floor room was only going to make me more irritated. I asked and they were happy to put me on the top floor far away from all the commotion. The GM was there and even hooked me up with a complimentary bottle of wine! The staff has been extremely patient, accommodating and helpful. As someone who has traveled extensively for work, I've stayed at some awesome places and not so awesome places and I can say that I highly recommend staying here! read more

The consistent expectations of staying here have been met. I would put this one on the higher end of the many Hampton inn and suites locations. Larger lobby and breakfast area. Newer upgraded rooms. Great location right off of freeway and next to many spots to eat and such within walking distance. Rooms were set up for new arrivals better then any other recent stays in other locations. They even had the classic mint left to greet me. Nice touch. Gentleman that checked me up was extremely professional and friendly. Bravo. If this is the No. 1 rated hotel in Ocala on Tripadvisor, I don't even want to know how bad the other hotels are. 1. If you do not like noise, avoid this hotel. We could hear the people walking in the room upstairs above us and it sounded like a T-Rex was walking up there. This went on any time the people upstairs were in the room. The next morning we could hear the maid slamming down the toilet seat in the bathroom upstairs and the sound of her vacuuming upstairs. It sounded like an earthquake. The lack of soundproofing at this hotel at this price point is inexcusable. 2. The rooms are very small. If you are accustomed to staying in an "all suites" hotel like Staybridge or Residence Inn, you will not like these rooms. They are basically the size of a normal hotel room and have furniture jam-packed in a stupid layout all over the place. If you have more than two people in your party you will feel claustrophobic. The bathroom is also very small/narrow and so is the shower. The showerhead was weak crap. 3. There is no kitchen in these rooms. Just a counter with a sink and a dorm size fridge. 4. The sofa bed is an atrocity to sleep in. I have neck and back pains three days later. 5. The bath towels are thin, horrible quality. 6. There is no ice machine on the first floor. Basically if you stay on the first floor expect a lot of noise from upstairs and the doors and hallways, and also expect to have to go upstairs to get ice. 7. The only positives of this hotel are: it looks relatively new or newly renovated, the staff were nice, it has a big lobby with trendy décor, if you are into that sort of thing. The breakfast was standard Hampton Inn fare. Also I do have to say the hotel is very clean. 8. The Wifi here was impossible to use. If you are expecting to use Wifi, STAY ELSEWHERE. I have a brand new iPad and the Wifi was so slow I couldn't stream Netflix or even check email. Overall: It is way too noisy and the rooms are way too small and uncomfortable for the price. read more

Overall, the hotel is nice. My room was a single king bed. I had a dorm size refrigerator, which worked fine. The bed and pillows were comfortable. The room was nicely cleaned daily. The breakfast is a step up from a Holiday Inn Express breakfast. The dining/common area was nice as well, although I would prefer less soft seating as you sink into the cushions and it is an uncomfortable eating position. Now why only three stars? Noise level. If you are okay with traffic noise from the highway, then bump this to a 4-star, if you hate traffic noise, this could drop to a two star. I am right in the middle and rarely do I wake up from traffic noise. They know the highway is a problem because they put ear plugs in the room for you to use. Earplugs do not work well for me. I typically bring a sound machine or use a sound machine app on my phone, so I managed and would return. I guess my other minor issue is the night auditor was no where to be found at 3:34 am when I needed to check out, but I can get my receipt on line, so not a huge issue. read more
