We saw a few weeks ago that the 8th Annual Lewisville Street Party was happening at Shallowford Square on Saturday, June 25th. The event included food trucks at 6pm and live music beginning at 7pm. Shallowford Square is small park near the center of the town of Lewisville, NC. It is set up with a small amphitheater where they have events throughout the year. We have driven by the square multiple times but never attended an event. We arrived shortly after 6pm and the Forsyth Sheriff's Office was directing traffic. There were plenty of parking options ranging from the library parking lot, elementary school, Baptist church, etc. We found a parking spot and walked to the square. There were quite a few food trucks, somewhere between 15-20 but the lines were LOOOONG! We strolled through and ultimately decided to order a funnel cake where the line had only a few people. I noticed others with beer but unfortunately there appeared to be only one location to order from that was not associated with a food truck. And, the line was very long as well. We didn't stay long since we had already had a long day and were hot and sweaty. Positives: Cool location, organized traffic patterns Negatives: Long food lines, over 30 minutes wait at most trucks We will be back to check out other events!

Great trail for walking, running, walking the dogs or riding a bike. The Old Salem section of the Strollway is a 5 star. The trail takes you right past Old Salem. You will pass right by the Old Salem Visitors Center and the Heritage Bridge. You can cross over the street using the bridge and visit Old Salem if you like. The trail in this section is wide enough for all people coming and going. If you follow the Strollway south you will end up at the Greenway, which you can take to Winston-Salem State or Salem Lake to the west, or Washington Park to the east, but that is another review. You do have to cross over a busy street (Salem Avenue) but there is a nice wine shop on the other side. The northern route past Old Salem takes you to downtown and ends at 4th Street. This takes you under Business 40 and past Corpening Plaza park. Nice part of this section is you end up right into the heart of all of the downtown restaurants on 4th Street. This section requires crossing 3 streets in downtown. The only reason I don't have the Strollway rated 5 stars is the section running under Business 40 can be a little sketchy. This will change after the Business 40 renovations are completed.

A pleasant 1.2 mile trek from downtown Winston-Salem to Old Salem/Salem Ave. it's a leisurely walk…read moredown tree lined sidewalks passing residential areas, cafes, and historical Old Salem which is where the Moravians settled in the early 1800's. Whether leisurely, or for hard core exercise, this is a magnificent adventure!
