Parking is abundant, that includes covered and uncovered parking areas. The pool area is very nice as well with a screened in bar area for drinks, and a hot tub off to the side as well. They also have gas grills available for people that would like to eat in, they aren't the best grills ever but easily get the job done. The resort has 3 "paths" to walk down to the beach which is about a mile and half from the light house. Also the resort office has umbrellas available to rent, a small reading library, and movies available as well. Some things I'm not overly crazy about but they don't really ruin the experience is that the hot tub is way too hot to enjoy if you are there during the summer months. I could see in the winter time it being refreshing but during the summer months they should turn the temperature down on the water. While the resort does have free wifi, the coverage is not very good. Most of the walking paths are gravel so if you are going barefoot you had better toughen up them feet. Overall staying here is a very enjoyable experience and I'd definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a place to stay while on the island.

I've stayed with them a handful of times, mostly over spring breaks.They describe it as a worthwhile cost, as it's one of their favorite places to vacation. Maintenance department does a good job, as their repairs are timely and efficient. Management is good, they consistently look to keep their units in great shape. Pool is terrific, never crowded. Margarita parties every week by the pool! Direct beach access, their patch of sand is rarely busy, No major downsides. My family and I have predominantly stayed in Pointe Santo while on Sanibel. Both are great, cottages are better for smaller groups, more cosy and show a better looking interior.

After getting conflicting prices and confusion regarding one of the packages on the hotel website, I wrote to the general manager. I was subsequently helped by Alba in the reservation center who reached out to me. Frankly, she saved the day. Our check-in with Christie at the front desk was lovely and seamless. Our room was ready so we were able to check in a tad early. Christie gave us our key cards, vouchers, wristbands and car placard and explained all the things we needed to know about our stay. Her pleasing personality made us feel welcome. Our room was in the D section on the 4th floor. The one-bedroom with balcony had a partial gulf view, king size bed, living room/dining room, and full kitchen. The bathroom was modern with a walk in shower. We purchased a package including breakfast. Each morning we headed to the Captains Catch in the main building. The buffet was very good. There was plenty options from which to choose. The omelet/ eggs to order station was a nice addition. The first night, we ate dinner in the Japanese restaurant at the hotel. You need reservations for the hibachi section, but not for their sushi bar/table area. It was very good. (See separate review). We also visited the pool and the hot tub one day. And enjoyed walking along the beach. As we are from Florida, we didn't sit out sunning nor use the rec facilities except one day we stopped by to get towels. We did play a couple games of bingo by the pool, but that's it, and we did have a drink at the tiki bar. Drinks were just okay. Checkout was not the easiest as mentioned above -- after I realized I'd been charged an incorrect amount. Jamie did not handle the situation well. Luckily, I'd saved Alba's contact info so I called her from the checkout/front desk. She verified the correct charges. And an adjustment/credit was made to my credit card billing. Bottom line, this would have been a five star review. And the facility itself deserves that. But after a lovey relaxing mini vacation for my husband's birthday, my treat, I once again had to deal with a glitch that I thought was already resolved. And that's now my last impression.

The staff are friendly, helpful, and accommodating. We arrived after the front desk closed. They reached out to us in advance, sent us all the information we'd need by email, and had our room keys ready for us in a lock box. The location is great, with gorgeous views of the Gulf. We lucked out and saw a pod of dolphins one morning!

Every single employee we encountered acknowledged us, went out of their way to smile, and for those providing us service were kind, friendly and attentive (minus one - hostess at Rae's needs some guidance). I honestly was blown away by it - so refreshing in a world where this is no longer common. We did a kayaking tour with Ranger Rob and he is EXCELLENT! We saw dolphins and manatees in addition to a bunch of shore birds. It was tough paddling back against the current and across the channel but all in all it was a wonderful experience. Overall Pros: - Rooms all have an ocean view. We stayed in the Captiva building and had a huge screened in patio with two lounge chairs and a dining table with four chairs. - Rooms were spacious with a nicely appointed kitchenette, full fridge, living room and bedroom televisions, and large bathroom. - Rooms and resort were very clean, well maintained, and comfortable. - Pools and beach were very clean and spacious (there are three pools, one specific for adults 17+). - Daily breakfast was delicious! Omelette and eggs made to order, and an abundance of offerings in the hot stations (potatoes, eggs, bacon, sausage, pancakes, oatmeal, and fun waffles that my kids loved), as well as toast and pastries, cereal, fresh fruit, yogurt and more. - They give you a bag when you check in that was excellent to have for bringing things down to the pool / beach such as sunscreen, water, etc... - They also gave the kids a shell bag each and sunglasses. - We arrived on Valentine's Day and they handed me a beautiful pink rose that I put in a glass air water and it opened so beautifully and lasted the whole week in our room. - Bongos was good and convenient for lunch. Rae's food was delicious - so having two restaurants was a great perk. - Walk to downtown was about 0.75 miles and a nice way to walk off dinner. We used the free tram a few times too. Just a couple cons: - People save pool chairs regardless of the large signs that say not to. The signs also say that staff will remove towels that "don't have activity" but I never once saw that done. It was frustrating to come down to no chairs available for all three of us together or in any area near the pool / sun. You can reserve chairs at $50/pair online but that seemed like not a great use of money even with the frustration. I wish the resort would hold true to not allowing saved spots. - Breakfast can be loud. Not sure there is much to be done about it but the beeping of the omelet station didn't help with the already crowded room. - Coffee was just not great. I tried - the only way it was so so was to get it iced and add some chocolate milk. It seemed watery and just not a great taste. - The service at the pool was spotty - some days it seemed like there was a regular waitstaff walking around and others it was hard to find someone. The resort could make a lot more money in drinks and food by staffing the pools better. - The dryer in the shared laundry in Captiva (floor 7) was the worst dryer I've ever used. It took from 5pm to beyond 1am to wash and dry three loads of laundry. We hated to leave and look forward to going back.

The view is pretty as a postcard , the atmosphere is Disneyland. Loud constant pool motor noise all over the complex and beach facing lanais , even into the condo units ( management refused to repair the noise our entire several week stay), .....Condo 1C1 is tiny (they all are), with dingy uncomfortable furniture and mattresses, no space for clothing in the master bedroom, and no bathroom shelves . Although beach chairs are available , they are heavy and uncomfortable. Beach umbrellas for rent are very old, heavy and difficult to put up. There were frequent workers outside the first floor lanai, sometimes a group sitting on the grass , handpicking weeds and talking loudly w no consideration. Workers from maintenance , landscaping and bug spray companies were all over the grounds daily . The pool now permits guests to play music without headphones, Management and staff are rude and insulting when presented with problems and the chronic motor noise problem .

The grove updates, shuffleboard, the pond, the shelling stations etc. We started out staying in building 1 and then quickly found building 4 which has become our go too. We have introduced a lot of folks to Sanibel and always worry that they will find it as amazing as we do. We have stayed in the following rooms which I have kept some notes on: bldg1 - 1C2; bldg3 - 3A3, 3A2, 3B2; bldg.4 - 4D3, 4D2, 4C2, 4C3, 4C4,4 A4, 4A3 The folks at the front desk are always friendly, happy and ready to talk about the resort and the island life that I so long for. The sustainability program that OR has adopted is also such a great thing to tip your hat at. The recycling and efficiency appliances in the units adds to such a great contribution to our society. Each unit is individually decorated and sometime things are a little light in the unit. But somehow, we survive. I love that I can rent the bikes and umbrellas right there at OR and they are ready for me when I get there. The grounds are always clean, well-manicured, and foliage abounds. The addition of the new front desk with bathrooms is great. The building is always well maintained and the housekeeping, maintenance and ground crew are always nice when I stop and chat. I love being about to cook and look out, through the palm trees and see the ocean. The bldg.. 3 and 4 are usually quiet and the families that are there are respectful of that beauty. In fact I have gone for many years in July and have seen these small children grow up and find the peace and beauty that Sanibel offers. I love sitting on the beach and finding respectful people that don't sit to close or in front of your views. I will continue coming to OR and bringing new folks and repeat folks as much as I can.

But you're in a protected Bay not in the open ocean and they have pilings with numbers on them so you can find your way and not go into an area that's too shallow. We rented a pontoon boat it was really new looking and comfortable would love to have it myself LOL. The people of Jensen's were very helpful and explained everything that we needed to know they helped us get the boat in and out. Sweets you've never driven a boat give them a try he won't be sorry. The water was very calm today we ended up seeing a couple of PODS of dolphins ... 2 adults and a baby. Then couple hours later saw 4 more dolphins. Yay so exciting. We wanted to have lunch at the famous cabbage key. We saw a tortoise there. Got a glimpse of a manatee at the marina. We didnt get out to swim. But bring your bathing suits, towels, sunscreen, hat or visor, sunglasses and cooler with drinks. I'm so glad we went out of our comfort zone and did this. Rather have fun memories vs regret. We rented the boat for 1/2 a day .. 6 hours. They didnt count the time till we were on the boat .. not the time going over everything.

We used the shuttle quite a bit, and it was always fantastic. We also took full advantage of the kayaks and bicycles and loved having so many amenities right on-site. Our room overlooked the Gulf, which meant absolutely stunning sunsets every evening. Anytime we needed anything, the staff was happy to help.
