The rooms were spotless, the staff professional, the pool was nice and the onsite Bar / Restaurant was exactly what we needed. There is live music nightly which we enjoyed. If you don't want to be close to the music, Tammy will accommodate you. The manager of the Tikki bar was always present and made sure everything was up to our standards. There is an ice maker for your convenience. Fresh, filtered water is available during open lobby hours. It is an older hotel but the amenities have been modernized. Last night was day 4 of no soap in the women's restroom. Last night was day 4 of the same toilet paper, ashes, and wrappers on the floor in the same spot. Last night was day 4 of the same wet piece of toilet paper on the sink. Last night was day 4 of the horrible stains in the toilet only to be building as each day came and went. There is food served just outside of these restrooms. I've heard complaints being made to bartenders, servers, managers with NOTHING done about these bathrooms. Only to be told that housekeeping onsite should be cleaning these bathrooms daily. However, each day comes and goes and they just get worse. I'm beginning to rethink where I meet up with my friends for a drink and apps. I'd rather sit inside if it means I can use a clean restroom stocked with toilet paper and soap. I have a few questions for the owner, whom by the way, I have never met or have spoken with...1) You have housekeeping onsite, why wouldn't you utilize them once in the am and again before they leave to ensure these restrooms are clean and stocked? 2). If you don't have the staff to utilize, why wouldn't the restaurant staff ensure that they are clean when they arrive and clean and stocked before they go home for the evening? 3). Finally and most importantly...IF THERE IS NO SOAP IN THE WOMEN'S RESTROOMS FOR FOUR DAYS IN A ROW - WHERE IS YOUR KITCHEN AND WAIT STAFF WASHING THEIR HANDS AFTER THEY USE THE RESTROOM????? This is not only disgusting but I'm guessing the Health Department would absolutely frown on this as well. I'm hoping something is done about the cleanliness of these restrooms otherwise my friends and I will need to find another establishment to have drinks and listen to music at. I've been coming to this bar two to three times a week for many years to meet up with friends after work. We've put up with subpar service because we enjoy the company --but today was on a whole new level. Would like to give a shout out to the staff at Dolphin Key who made our little getaway very pleasant! My friend and I reserved a room for a two day stay. Upon arrival we realized we had made a mistake and booked a single room instead of two double beds. Meghan at the front desk assisted us with the room switch (friendly and efficient) and we settled in. The room was large, clean and very comfortable. Only negative thing might be the bathroom (small and outdated). We struggled with the little coffeemaker, never did get a drinkable cup but the Tiki Bar has amazing inexpensive breakfast offerings. Other than that, room was sunny and super comfortable beds! The Tiki Bar and Grill has a nice casual vibe with local flavor. Inviting, reasonably priced. There was no entertainment as we stayed mid week off season. Staff was attentive and friendly. Another nice feature of our stay was a 2pm late checkout which was graciously granted. I travel quite a bit and this has not always been my experience. We were traveling in the early evening and this allowed us to have a home base and enjoy the resort a little more. The Dolphin Key Resort is an older resort, but they have made efforts to modernize the facility. The rooms are large and clean although they do not have some of the amenities that we have come to expect in hotel rooms today like telephones, USB charging ports and microwaves. The staff and management are very nice to work with. The pool and associated courtyard area is very well maintained; we enjoyed our time relaxing there. The center of the resort is the huge tiki bar; it is a popular location for not just the guest of the resort but the locals as well. It is well stocked, and the bartenders are friendly. While the kitchen was not open for much of our stay due to an equipment failure that occurred just prior to our arrival, we did get to experience one dinner meal and one breakfast before we left. The dinner meal was delicious! The ribs were done to perfection and had a great flavor, not spicy but traditional BBQ. My wife had the crab cakes and she said they were delicious as well, to the point that Gordon Ramsey would approve. They don't have a huge breakfast menu, but we enjoyed our traditional Tiki Takeoff breakfasts. We will definitely return in the future for a quick getaway. read more

Ok here's the deal. It's a tiki bar hotel. The resort moniker may be a little misleading... usually that has to do with amenities and this place does offer a pool and bar area. ... my family has lived in the area for years so there were no surprises but, if you aren't familiar I'd suggest you take a moment to soak in this information: it's a hotel and Tiki Bar. The bar has loud music. The music is usually pretty awesome but you can hear it. It's not subtle. Don't go looking for peace and quiet or complain about the noise. That's pretty much what you are signing up for. The people who work there that I encountered are lovely. The bottom of the hotel is being renovated after the hurricane... the top rooms are clean and spacious. There was a refrigerator. The bed was comfortable. There is no phone or microwave. I did nott expect those items so it was no shock to me... some people apparently do. The bar was hopping- the bar patrons were an older crowd (not 21 year olds... I'd say late 30"s+) singing along to the live band and having a sincerely good time. The nachos we ordered were... ok.. I've really never had nachos with lettuce on them. If you order them I'd ask to have without lettuce. The jalapeños came on the side and had the seeds In them and were super hot- not a complaint.. just an observation. I had a dirty banana specialty drink which was pretty good. I ordered another one and it was totally different than the first . The glass was even different. I'm an olde school restaurant girl.. consistency is important... and lacking. You can bring your dog to the bar (not the hotel but..) and apparently you can smoke at the bar as well. the bar service was good. It was a holiday weekend so one never knows but it was solid. Our 'pool view' room was absolutely a view of a wall with a fire extinguisher on it. Technically if I left the room and walked by the wall and looked around it I could see the pool.. Not a big deal if they had not said it was a pool view room I wouldn't have cared. Maybe 'a room facing the pool instead of the road/parking lot' comment would have kept our expectations in check. The door to our room... didn't go down to the floor. We could put our toes under it from the inside and you could see them outside. It was random and quirky.. I worry about all of the air conditioning that was able to escape though.. . I'd go back again. The bar was fun and the people were nice and the room was clean and the people accommodating. Fun Place Under A Tiki Roof, Disappointing Food Located at the Dolphin Key resort, this bar/grill is huge. A prominent full service bar, lots of seating and live entertainment on a Tuesday night when we visited. Now that season is over, the live music is Thursday through Sunday. We started with some drinks. I had the Rum Punch, 16 oz for $9.00, my wife had soda $3.00. We ordered the Calamari appetizer ($12.00). Our server did recommend it. We did not care for this at all. Way too much breading and deep fried way too long. Oh, they were really crunchy and about all you tasted was fried breading. Very disappointing. Sorry lost the picture. As for our meals, my wife ordered the Tiki Torch Wrap ($14.00) with mild buffalo sauced chicken. A flour tortilla wrapped around lettuce, fried chicken pieces tossed in sauce, tomato, onion and shredded cheddar cheese. There is a choice of sides and she had fries. The wrap was tasty, the fries were just ok when warm, not good as they cooled off. I had the Loaded Nachos ($19.00) off of the appetizer menu. I am a nacho fan so I try them often when out. $19 for tortilla chips and some toppings seemed high, but I gave it a try. If you look at my picture, it looks like an impressive load of nachos, but looks are deceiving. Sure, there are a lot of chips underneath, but not that much of the toppings. It looks like each topper was piled in the center and left to spill down from there. First the meat, taco seasoned, lettuce, red onions, some infamous liquid nacho cheese, tomatoes, black olives and a few pinches of shredded mozzarella cheese. It came with three add-ons in those little plastic cups - sliced pickled jalapenos (maybe 15 pieces), about 1/2 plastic cup each of salsa and sour cream. The top layers of chips tasted good with all the toppings, but as you get further down in the pile, you're at plain chips. Sorry Tiki Hut, it's an impressive plate, but at this price point either be more generous with the toppings or lower the price and trim back the amount of chips. We may go back for the entertainment, not sure for the food. read more

This is a 3 1/2 to 4 star hotel. It's only two stories with no elevator and reminds me of an old large Florida motel. We are fairly spoiled having been active business travelers. We usually stay a bit more upscale. When we've travelled in Florida, we've usually used points from our business travel. So here we were, having to book something last minute when my bff from high school decided to come to Florida (Michigan weather has been awful) at the last minute -- during a March spring break week, yet. We found this place online -- not far from the holiday inn we've stayed at before -- and it had rooms and the price was much less than the holiday inn. Voila! Executive decision. The lobby is pretty basic, but clean. It does have a computer should you need to use one. A few tourist publications and a cold water machine. Check in was smooth. We checked in, but our room wasn't ready til the afternoon, so we went off to meet my friend for lunch. We'd requested an upstairs room and that's what we got. We knew we'd have to climb the stairs with our stuff, but be forewarned if this is a problem. The ice machine was located on the ground floor conveniently by the stairs. The room itself was newly renovated. Everything was fresh and clean. The king size bed was comfortable. Only wish they had an extra sheet instead of that one piece comforter style bedding. Each night stand had its own lamp. There was a refrigerator in the room, a desk, and two comfortable chairs in a sitting area. The A/C worked perfectly. Open to the room is a small rack for hanging clothes with half a dozen hangers and a wooden cubicle serving in place of a dresser -- that was a bit odd, but ok. The bathroom vanity area had new separate sinks, plenty of towels. And some basic amenities plus a small coffee maker and ice bucket. Inside the shower/tub combo was a great shower that had both a top shower head and a hand held head on a hose. The toilet (also new) is the water saving kind with two different push options on the top of the tank. Our room overlooked the pool which had lush plants around it. It was too cold to use - at least for us. There were no smoking signs everywhere on all the tables around the pool and on each floor. The entire hotel is non smoking and also pet free. If you're looking for entertainment, there's (loud) music nightly from the attached tiki bar. It does a big local business too. This may be appealing or a turn off to some. You can also eat at the tiki bar. With our room, we received free breakfast coupons for each of us for each night. It is served in the tiki bar room starting at 7 am. It includes coffee, and orange juice, along with scrambled eggs, 2 sausage links, and a hash brown patty. It's basic, but edible. The first day, the server hadn't shown up on time, so the cook/chef was doing everything himself, The second day, he had help and it was much smoother and more organized. They had a coffee station where you could help yourself, too. The hotel (motor hotel?) is centrally located. There are even a number of restaurants and shops you could easily walk to should you wish to do so. It's not fancy. But understanding that -- and since most people don't spend much time in their rooms -- this is a lower cost option with all the basics. read more

We tried the orange crush, and it was definitely delicious. We were only there for a couple of drinks. No food was ordered, but the crowd was lively, and the atmosphere was great. When we got there the bartender told us that they are no longer able to use the pool because the hotel has restricted it to hotel guests only. I chose the hotel because it was recommended online after booking an American Airlines flight. The hotel is cute - the pool nice and the location is great. What I didn't get from the hotel website mention of "live entertainment" was how incredibly loud it would be. The live band at the Tiki Bar had the walls of our room vibrating for several hours til 10 pm. Our room was near the Tiki Bar parking lot and the cars were also loud. The cheering crowd thoroughly enjoyed the band but I wished we'd been in another room. read more

The staff was welcoming and accommodating. However, the room was covered in ants that ate our food. The mini fridge smelled so awful we used our cooler we had brought the entire time. The parking is limited at times due to the popular bar on site. The place was beautiful but the live music played until 11pm which keeps kids up, so not super kid-friendly. We had fun having a bar we could walk to, and the live music was pretty good. If you aren't a party person, this probably isn't the place for you. *********** I appreciate the response! We didn't mind the noise and enjoyed being with the crowd. I forget the room number... I want to say 112 or 114, second to last room on the first floor nearest to the bar. I was born and raised in south Florida so I am familiar with the presence of insects due to the rain. However, the fridge does need attention. We have been coming here for several years. Tonight we stopped with another couple for dinner and to listen to music. Our table only had 3 chairs, we needed one more. My husband asked the server that stopped at the table to clear it if she could help us find a chair. She laughed at us and said we had to find our own... the nice couple next to us had an extra chair so we were all set. Except we were never waited on after the initial visit from the server. She was all around us but totally ignored us. So, we sat for about 15 minutes and decided she had no interest in waiting on us and to top it off we smelled what can only be described as a sewer smell. Newly renovated rooms are clean and spacious. I originally found it odd that there isn't a dresser for your clothes anywhere, then I realized they have an open shelf storage unit hanging on the wall for your clothes. What a great idea!! You can unpack your clothes and put them in a cubby, so you won't forget them when you leave. ( I've been known to leave an entire drawer full of clothes in other hotels) The shower is amazing, with both a rain shower head and a hand held shower head so no matter what your preference- there is no excuse not to be clean! They have a small refrigerator and a coffee pot ( they even have tea bags) in every room- so I could drink my coffee in my jammies! They have a beautiful pool between the hotel and the Tiki Hut, which is beautiful and clean. We normally stay at the Holiday Inn, but never again. The staff was friendly, the rooms were nice, the food is right there and the price is better. We'll be back! read more

My family and I attended a wedding here and our stay was awful! Customer service was not up to par! We were cussed at by the front desk attendant, threatened with trespassing tickets because we sat by the pool apparently too late, and the bar service could have been better. Being in the wedding we had several rooms booked under a certain rate! We got charged way over what was offered even after they told us we would get the certain rate. Couldn't find the review space at the actual hotel website. When booking, I asked if I could have a room w/ some sort of view (if there's availability). Woman at desk was nice when checking in. Told I have a 'pool view' room... it was a concrete pillar with a fire extinguisher as the view. Ok, it's peak season so that's how it goes. Upon opening the door, the stench of cigarette smoke wafts through (despite numerous signs against it). I'm so tired, I flop down on the bed, (with 1 of those thin foam toppers) when suddenly, the loud, reverberating sounds of a live, headbangers' band rips through the room from the attached bar to this motel. I didn't remember seeing that on the ad. Next morning, thankful to have a good hot shower, (but definitely no fabric softener on towels), an old blood stain on 1 of the clean towels had me picking through them, making sure to only use an un-stained 1. While trying to use their blow dryer, (after hitting all gfi switches amongst the outlets), it's not working. I tried to use my own...finally found a switch near the front door that worked. After waiting while trying to check out, girl at front desk on phone with customer is irritated that I needed a paper receipt. I wasn't expecting the Ritz, but don't treat me like I'm a nuisance. read more

This was a great spot! We spent two nights here in town for a sporting event for our child. The rooms were clean and well appointed with a fridge too. The grounds are beautiful and the pool was fantastic. The Tiki Bar had free breakfast and live music each night. Was a great spot. The ONLY complaint if any would be the early checkout time of 10AM but we were able to buy 1pm for $20. Worked out great for us but in busy season I can see that might be an issue. Grew up in Cape Coral and stayed at Dolphin Key with my fiance on a recent trip back. Surprised by some of the negative comments here, as we had nothing but a good experience. Can't comment on the noise, as we were on the wing of the building farthest from the bar, but we encountered no issues. The Tiki Bar and pool were great, and in fact I ended up spending way more of our trip there than I ever would've expected. Rooms were very clean. For management: the two employees we encountered in the lobby were both incredibly helpful and friendly. I regret that I don't have names, but one was a guy who was working the evening of June 30th, and the other was a woman working the morning of July 3rd. They were both equally terrific. Will be looking to stay here again next time I visit - for the price I doubt that it can be beat. read more

My father and I waited about 5-8 mins or so to put in our drink order at the bar that was moderately busy for time of day. Bartender was extremely rude and short. Non informative. Walked out to the pool that was occupied by multiple patrons of the bar non-guests. We were unfairly targeted and asked to leave! The pool was full of other guest from the bar as well as 1 or 2 guest at the hotel. Im appalled and suggest anyone looking to have a good time AVOID this place at ALL costs! Stayed here last night with Grewboo for a romantic last night alone in Florida. Room was perfectly equipped for our one night stay, pool was closed but there's "no security" so we snuck in a quick dip. The music at the tiki bar was a groovy touch and service was friendly. Only downsides were that the tv was pretty small and the room service came knockin 30 mins before the 11am checkout, luckily we weren't dirtying the sheets at that point. read more

So I was in Cape Coral for a family function, with other family members traveling from out of state, my usual bunk at my sons was unavailable. A friend said the Dolphin Key resort was a good spot so I booked on line at what was a really good rate compared to other places in town. When I checked in, the gentleman at the desk was very polite and welcoming, explained where my room was, where to park, how to get on the WiFi, and told me not to miss out on the heated pool, and the Tiki Bar that was featuring live music that night. Went to my room, simple, sparkling clean, new bathroom, great bed, tv! Cleaned up and off to the Tiki bar for dinner. Live band but as I was towards end of the bar, could still talk to friends who saw my check in and made a surprise appearance. This is a great place, I will surely stay again and recommend Dolphin Key Resort highly, it's not fancy, but it is reasonable , you are made to feel at home here, hats off to owners and staff, and thanks very much! read more

We stayed three days and were pleased to find our room made up and cleaned each day. Our grandson had a blast in the swimming pool. The breakfast buffet had good bagels, orange juice, sliced ham luncheon meat, some Danishes. Our last day they put out boxes of cereal and yogurt. That gave a few more options. Cleanliness means a lot, so I would stay here again! We booked several months in advance and paid a very reasonable rate. We chose this place as it was near the home of a friend we were there to visit. The place itself is nice, simple and the room was fine. Our first issue was the hand towel and bath towel both were dirty. The hand towel had make up on it. The real issue was that when we got back and tried to take a shower we could not get the water to go up so we ended up using a plastic cup to shower. Since they don't have anyone in the front desk after 7 or 8 pm we could not call anyone. The hadn towel and bath towel were replaced as we noticed that when we got there. When checking out we told the person in the front desk and he told us that this was a common issue as they had this weird system for the shower ( which I have no idea why they would use such a system in a 2 star hotel). The person in the front desk told me that they used to have a display in the front desk to teach people how to operate it but it was not there any more. What I could believe was what happened next. I posted a review in Google and the hotel owner responded with an insult and a lie. The owner said we were shown how to operate the shower and that perhaps it was too "modern for" us.
