    Relax on the Hammock

Joe and Connor are awesome! they thought of everything you would need to stay at the beach, just bring your clothes. The room was perfect, clean and they even had all the toiletries you would need. we can't wait to come back again, but next time we are staying longer.

Because of a winter cold front that unexpectedly hit the panhandle we changed plans last minute and came to sanibel..what a joy to find this property available! Walk to beach, bike to ding darling...sunrise looking at fort myer beach or sunset from the lighthouse.. amazing ..easy walk to beach and super quiet even though the Inn was full. One last note--the innkeeper Dawn is awesome... We'll be back someday Xo

Was our second time staying here. My mom and I absolutely LOVE this place! So cute and the perfect size for the two of us. The room we stayed in, Lighthouse 2, had a pull out couch and a king size bed. We loved the kitchen and the patio where we could sit and eat. We also enjoyed the free bikes and the proximity to the beach- a 5 minute walk! Something also important to mention was that we were also provided a beach umbrella, two foldable chairs, and a wagon as well as beach towels for our entire stay! We also enjoyed eating at the lighthouse cafe and the ice cream place right across the street. We had the best time at this quaint beach inn and would stay here every time we return to Sanibel. I 100% recommend! ** the only negative was that the pillows were lumpy... bring your own for an easy fix!

This cozy, comfortable hotel is located near a popular beach outlet on the Sanibel Island, an ice cream/coffee joint is directly across the road. The Tarpon Tale Inn is a modified Bed and Breakfast that features lovely outdoor patio, complementary bicycles, a kitchenette, hi-definition television, and is in walking distance to many popular restaurants and shops in the region. The innkeepers are extremely welcoming, and made sure we enjoyed our vacation as much as possible. If you are looking for a moderately-priced hotel while staying in Sanibel, The Tarpon Tale Inn is a great consideration!

My boyfriend and I were both so surprised by how much has already reopened on Sanibel. The Tarpon Tale Inn is one of the many gems that has opened since Hurricane Ian. Father and son duo, Connor and Joe made our stay so enjoyable. The room was beautiful and every bit of furnishing seemed brand new. It was a wonderful place to come home to after our long days spent at the beach. Speaking of- the location of the Tarpon Tale Inn is perfect for beachgoers! We were provided free bikes by the Inn which we took to the beach. The closest beach was also accessible by an easy 5 minute walk from the Inn (but it was more fun to ride the bike.) We were so close to the famous Sanibel Lighthouse as well as many restaurants and stores. Every little detail is considered at the Tarpon Tale Inn- we were not only provided bikes but also beach towels, a beach umbrella, a beach cart, beach chairs, a shell washing station, a shell guide, an outdoor hangout area and more. We know that next time we are on the island we will be staying with the Tarpon Tale Inn again. Thank you for helping us make amazing memories!

They exceeded my expectations. We stayed July 4 weekend. Dawn met us, toured is through all the amenities and was accessible by text and phone for early check in request and touring recommendations. The room had everything possible. I was very excited by the 2 Bibles, I haven't seen a Bible in a rm in yrs. All the amenities- bicycles, beach chairs, beach trolley, gas grills, outdoor patio were wonderful. It's also situated across from the very popular ice cream shop and Lighthouse Cafe, very convenient for meals. The private beach is a 5 minute walk or 3 minute bicycle ride. The lighthouse park and public beach is .6 miles away. We couldn't be happier and would give this a 6 rating if possible. Dawn is also an excellent host.

2 Bikes included in the rental. A highlight of our Sanibel trip.

The Tarpon Tale Inn is by far the best place we have ever stayed. We fell in love with the Captain's Cottage and can't wait to return. Dawn was incredibly helpful, she went out of her way to get us settled and situated--she gave us a great tour and made us feel welcome. Joe suggested a wonderful deli next door that we visited 3 times in two days! Yum! The amenities are not usually what we look at but this place is filled with them!! And we really had the chance to use them. Beach chairs, beach wagons (super light and easy to use), beach towels, bikes (one of the highlights of our trip). The private patio was delightful, we felt like we were the only ones there and loved the outdoor shower and a nice drink on the private patio in the afternoon. Everything that Tarpon Tale Inn could have thought of, they did--if you wanted to set your towel down, there was a place to hang it up right there. Thoughtful designed, peaceful, and wonderful getaway. So thankful to Dawn and Joe for making our trip special.

The lighthouse is a 5 minute bike ride away.

Parking is abundant, that includes covered and uncovered parking areas. The pool area is very nice as well with a screened in bar area for drinks, and a hot tub off to the side as well. They also have gas grills available for people that would like to eat in, they aren't the best grills ever but easily get the job done. The resort has 3 "paths" to walk down to the beach which is about a mile and half from the light house. Also the resort office has umbrellas available to rent, a small reading library, and movies available as well. Some things I'm not overly crazy about but they don't really ruin the experience is that the hot tub is way too hot to enjoy if you are there during the summer months. I could see in the winter time it being refreshing but during the summer months they should turn the temperature down on the water. While the resort does have free wifi, the coverage is not very good. Most of the walking paths are gravel so if you are going barefoot you had better toughen up them feet. Overall staying here is a very enjoyable experience and I'd definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a place to stay while on the island.

We, as Hilton Grand Vacation (HGV) members, can travel freely and stay at numerous properties around the country and the world. Hurricane House works with HGV to allow HGV members to use some of its "condos" when the actual owners choose not to use them. That is how we ended up at Hurricane House during the first few days of September 2021. There are 15 units at Hurricane House and we were given one of the two story units (#6). We were aware that this is an older property but Hilton is pretty good about only offering its members quality accommodations. OK....the good first: Check in was a breeze and the exterior of the property was well maintained. Parking was plentiful and close. Each unit has one spot reserved in the first floor covered garage. First impression upon entering was very good. The first floor was a hallway, great room and kitchen. Furniture was comfortable and "beach themed" and very adequate. First floor flooring is all tile. The kitchen is a bit cramped (two people at a time) but well stocked with all you would need to prepare meals. Appliances are modern and very clean. Upstairs has two very large bedrooms with King beds. The "master" is larger with a totally adequate bathroom and lots of closet space. The smaller king bedroom has an extra sleeping space near the window. Upstairs carpeting is quality "waffle" material that is nice looking and easy on the feet. Both bathrooms have skylights that are a nice touch. Everything upstairs was easy on the eyes, clean and nicely decorated. A stacked compact washer and dryer is upstairs in a closet and works quite well. The pool area was small but nicely kept. Pool water was clean but not crystal clean. There were lots of chairs, tables, lounges and two jacuzzies but we didn't use them. The wood walkway to the beach is well maintained and has a shower, sink with running water (not sure what for) and a knee-level water sprayer to de-sand your feet upon returning. The property has a number of "sand chairs" you can take out to the beach and return when you are done. We didn't use the gas grills but there were, I think, three of them that were clean and ready for use. The beach behind the property is not very wide but the sand is clean. No seaweed events while we were there. Bring flip-flops as the sand can get very hot and the beach has many areas with sharp, crunchy areas of shells of all sizes. Now the bad: Both king mattresses were (for us) way too soft; and for me, at least, it affected my sleep. I cannot remember staying in a hotel or vacation property with mattresses this soft. The A/C thermostat is at the bottom of the stairs and cools the downstairs fine. Upstairs was warm. We cranked it down to 70 to try to cool the upstairs at night but it was still too warm for me. As the outside air temperature cooled, by early morning the bedrooms were comfortable. The refrigerator had no ice maker or even ice trays. An obvious inconvenience. For the guys, the most serious problem was the TV. We had planned to watch a number of NCAA football games. Both bedrooms have TVs but we did not use them. All TVs have DVD players (but not Blu-Ray). The living room has an LG flat screen TV of about 40 inches. The TV was older but fine; the cable service is just awful. There was no High Definition (720 or 1080p) service at all. And many people do not realize that Standard Definition (480p) TV looks worse on an HDTV than on an old CRT TV. There were no instructions on what the channel lineup was or how to find it (we eventually did). The TV and the Infinity cable box remotes were odd, old and difficult to figure out. All in all a very old school, unsatisfying experience. The last time I had this problem was in 2007 in Hawaii. Never thought I'd see it again. If you do not plan on watching TV, disregard this part. Overall I'd give our five day experience a C+ rating. Fix the TV, Ice and A/C issues and it would be close to an A.
