Anyone looking to support a quiet waterfront community should certainly consider this gem. Parking in navigation can sometimes be tricky. So consider utilizing the paid parking and security offered by the Pineland Marina Safe Harbor next-door. The twisty windy Road past the historic post office, the Randall research center, and all the grounds of this archaeological treasure trove is worth the drive. But I would not encourage anybody to bike or walk due to limited unsafe pathways and frequent flooding. But once you find your sweet parking spot and don't have to worry about anything. Have lunch at the tarpon Lodge and then walk all through the community of pineland and gaze upon this country club-esque neighborhood that is anchored by an abandoned golf course. Local wildlife is rebounding in this potential preserve. Bird watches especially have opportunities to check rare sightings off of their ornithology list. Including spring time elusives like the Chuck Wills Widow nightjar, white pelicans, juvenile bald eagles looking for their life mates, pileated woodpeckers and so much more. And if you're lucky and you play your cards right, a local might give you a couple fishing tips and some secret spots. So always have a fishing pole and bait ready.

While this isn't a luxury place, it's rather enjoyable. We stayed in the room called Little Snookie. That room is located on the left just as you enter the main front door. Check-in was completely contact-free. The owner/manager text us prior to check in with the codes to get inside. We had everything we needed for our short one-night stay, so I don't know how good or fast service would be if you needed something. I would suggest that if you're high-maintenance to not stay here...nor the island in general as this is a laid-back place! Anyways, I would love to stay here again especially if I could book one of the other rooms that are on the backside with views of the water. When we arrived, we checked out the back deck area and it was really nice. We saw a couple enjoying wine right outside their room door. It was really relaxing. We came back out to sit and watch the stars at night. Parking and/or leaving can be tricky. It's right off a fairly busy road, but especially if you have a normal-sized car, you can pull off the road like you're parallel parking, and then back into your spot. This makes it easier to leave. And once there, you don't have to leave for things like dinner and drinks. It's walkable to restaurants and ice cream. We walked just a little down the road for dinner outside at a restaurant (also on the water) playing live music. Book this place for the perfect romantic get-away!

First of all This is not a resort…read more Very laid back atmosphere. No one to check you in when you get there. I had to make a call to see what to do. Was told park anywhere and no one even asked our name. This is an oversized parking lot with 10 sites. Not all sites have full hookup as advertised. First site we pulled into had no sewer. If you don't have a 50amp RV, you must bring a converter as that's all they have, even though it's advertised as 30/50. Luckily we had one otherwise we would have had a problem. If it rains- be careful! Big storm last night and hookup area flooded where electric and sewer hookup was. Luckily we were hooked up prior to storm. Our neighbor who arrived shortly after storm was not so lucky and had to wait for area to dry up before they could hook up. It never did so they had to boondock at different site. My spouse was sick and we called the day before at 8am to see if we could reschedule. We spoke to someone who informed us to text the owners and they will get back to us when they can. I then texted. When I didn't hear back I called again at 3:30 and was told again the owners are busy and will get back to me eventually. I texted again at 5 and never heard back so we just went. It was frustrating I couldn't get an answer. The place is very chill. Family owned and ran. Met an owner who arrived hours after we hooked up. Very kind. Nice dock out back to watch sunrise and dolphins play. Chairs, fire pit and kayaks available for use. Island shack on property with laundry, shower, bathroom and couches. Walk to cute boutiques and art galleries and seafood restaurants.

Parking is abundant, that includes covered and uncovered parking areas. The pool area is very nice as well with a screened in bar area for drinks, and a hot tub off to the side as well. They also have gas grills available for people that would like to eat in, they aren't the best grills ever but easily get the job done. The resort has 3 "paths" to walk down to the beach which is about a mile and half from the light house. Also the resort office has umbrellas available to rent, a small reading library, and movies available as well. Some things I'm not overly crazy about but they don't really ruin the experience is that the hot tub is way too hot to enjoy if you are there during the summer months. I could see in the winter time it being refreshing but during the summer months they should turn the temperature down on the water. While the resort does have free wifi, the coverage is not very good. Most of the walking paths are gravel so if you are going barefoot you had better toughen up them feet. Overall staying here is a very enjoyable experience and I'd definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a place to stay while on the island.

Beachside they have lots of shared toys, chairs, Paddleboards and shell/shark tooth hunting scoops. Be sure to bring water shoes, diving masks & snorkels as the hurricane has uncovered lots of large rocks and debris making it more of a beach entry reef dive than a swimming beach. The abundance of fish varieties is astounding! Small children & seniors, due to a steep drop off and rocks, may find the pool more enjoyable which also comes with many toys available. Then, shortly before our trip, we received what they described as an "app," which appeared incomplete and contained little to no useful information. The day before our cross-country flight, we received a call from Charles, who identified himself as the head sales manager and said he was "the boss" when asked about a supervisor. He informed us that the Pelican House was no longer available due to a reported bedbug issue. Regardless of the reason, the timing left us with virtually no ability to make alternative plans. The replacement options offered were, in our view, not comparable. We specifically chose this property for a quiet, intimate beachfront experience with access to amenities like kayaks, canoes, and bikes. The suggested alternatives were larger, more traditional resort-style properties without the same privacy, beach access, or features we had planned around. While these were described as "nicer," the focus was on things like interior finishes rather than the experience we had intentionally booked. What made this especially difficult is that just the day before, we had conversations with staff where we shared that this trip was for our 20th anniversary during a period of repeated family tragedies. At that time, the tone was empathetic and understanding. However, once the cancellation was communicated, that empathy disappeared. The interaction shifted to a rigid, take-it-or-leave-it approach with no meaningful acknowledgment of the impact. We were given two options: accept a replacement that did not meet our needs or take a refund at the last minute--leaving us with non-refundable flights, a car rental, and no place to stay. There was no effort to provide a comparable solution or to help mitigate the disruption. After the call, I attempted to reach Charles again, but did not receive a return call. My wife later received an automated refund email. When I contacted Susan, the house manager, to confirm what had happened, the response was brief and, in our view, lacked empathy--stating only that they "couldn't risk it" because of bedbugs. From our perspective, this experience was deeply disruptive and disappointing. It left us with significant unexpected costs, no accommodations, and a milestone anniversary trip that had been planned for months effectively undone at the last minute.

By then, our symptoms had worsened significantly--I developed severe allergy-like reactions, and my husband's eyes became extremely red and irritated. When I spoke with the manager, Brett Sherman, he outright denied the presence of mold, offered no apology, and even laughed at me. My husband, who works in high-end real estate in Los Angeles, sent a photo of the air vents to a mold inspector he's worked with for over 20 years. The inspector said the growth strongly resembles Aspergillus, though of course, proper testing is required to confirm that. Regardless, it was completely unprofessional for the staff to dismiss our health concerns, deny the visible issue without proper evaluation, and refuse to acknowledge the inconvenience and harm caused. I stayed at the Marriott Sanibel Harbor Resort over the Fourth of July weekend. I had originally…read morehoped to stay in the main tower, but I'm actually glad I ended up in the Captiva Tower. It was noticeably quieter, the pool felt cleaner, and there was much less hustle and bustle. The room itself was comfortable and met my expectations. The beds were comfortable, the pillows were just right, and the view was enjoyable. One word of caution: the shower can get pretty slippery, so be careful. The resort offers a complimentary welcome drink, but I wouldn't really call it complimentary since there's a mandatory $35 daily resort fee that covers various amenities, many of which you may not even use. I also don't drink alcohol, so it wasn't much of a perk for me. I did take advantage of the 24-hour fitness center and was pleasantly surprised. There was a good variety of equipment, the treadmills worked well, and they provided complimentary towels, water, and even apples. My only criticism is that the gym could use a more thorough cleaning. One thing to know before booking is that this resort doesn't have a beach. That wasn't a dealbreaker for me because the pool was very nice. My mother and I drove to Sanibel Beach, which was only about 10-15 minutes away. However, parking was difficult to find, it costs $5 per hour, and the mosquitoes were relentless. Unless you're set on visiting the island, I'd recommend relaxing at the resort instead. The elevators worked well, and every staff member I interacted with was friendly and professional. Overall, there wasn't anything particularly spectacular about this resort, but it provided a relaxing and enjoyable Fourth of July getaway for my family. I would recommend it to others.
