During a family stay at the marina, unauthorized individuals were somehow allowed access to the property. These individuals not only stole valuable personal belongings directly off our boat, but they also interacted with our children while on the premises. It was a terrifying experience that no family should ever have to go through, especially in what is marketed as a safe, family-friendly environment. We trusted Jensen's because of its long-standing reputation in the community, and we've recommended it to many friends and fellow boaters over the years. That trust has now been completely shattered. Even more disappointing was the way the incident was handled afterward. Despite the seriousness of the situation--including the emotional toll on our children--our claim was unfairly denied, and the resort failed to take any responsibility for what occurred. Guests should feel safe while staying at any resort. Sadly, that was not our experience here. We are now pursuing legal action and will be sharing this story with the broader boating and fishing community to help others make informed decisions about where they choose to stay. We urge ROYAL SHELL PROPERTIES to reevaluate their approach to safety, security, and customer care. Until then, we cannot recommend this marina to anyone.

Also in the paperwork was a note to "MAKE SURE THE TRASH WAS TAKEN OUT WEDNESDAY NIGHT". We asked about this 2 years ago and were informed to take the kitchen trash, etc., down to the trashcan area for pickup. OK not a problem BUT this year it apparently means TAKE ALL THE TRASH CANS TO THE STREET! NO NOT JUST YOUR TRASH BUT THE PEOPLE WHO LEFT ALL THE CANS FULL LAST WEEK! OH AND DON'T FORGET TO BRING THE CANS BACK UP THE NEXT DAY!!!! OK, I thought we were on VACATION and don't forget this place cost us $500+ per night. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? Problem number 2 - don't forget to inspect EVERYTHING on the property! 3 WEEKS after returning home we are informed we were being charged $111 for a broken plastic chair. $55 for the chair and $55 for ADMINISTRATION FEES. We are still not sure what chair they are referring to but my guess is there were 2 lounge chairs out just feet from the beach in the back yard. There is a fence around the pool and house but the back yard is wide open. We, however, did not even use these chairs so how could we have known if one was broken or not??? We did leave a list of lightbulbs burnt out, squeeky washer dryer, drains that barely drain....My guess those things were left as is. To say the least, we will not be returning to this beautiful property. I called and left a message that was never returned. I emailed our position on the "Broken chair" and were only told EVERY property is inspected between each tenant EVERY time. Keep in mind from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm (check out, check in times) this is done. HOWEVER they told us they have too many rentals to take the trash down to the street once a week??????? Pathetic situation because the property is definitely "blissful" but it's the principle of the thing - to be accused of breaking something when we didn't and it could have been someone who didn't even rent the place leaves a bad taste in our mouth. We never received proof that the chair "we didn't break" was even purchased and replaced. So beware - if you stay in this property, you better do your own inventory and inspection before even setting up shop. But then again, there is no inventory/inspection list to check against so it's their call to make after you've checked out as to what may have been damaged or missing and you're at their mercy even if you didn't to it.

Contrary to what they claimed in their Google review response, we were never offered an alternative place to stay. I understand that construction delays happen, but what is unacceptable is their lack of professional communication. They made almost no effort to inform us of the situation or rebook us in a similar beachfront, ocean-facing condo, but were quick to ask us to remove a negative review rather than help resolve the issue they created. Additionally, they held onto our money for 8 months, all while advertising and posting old photos of a property that could not be rented. This is not how customers should be treated. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!

On the second day, we were informed that the elevator was broken and they didn't know when it would be fixed, which is an ADA violation. Then they told us it was fixed and safe to use, only to then reveal (after we and others had been using it) that it wasn't actually fixed and could "stop at any time". Our rooms were on the third floor and they didn't not offer us a room on the first floor until we brought up the fact that it is incredibly dangerous for me to be using stairs (and also an ADA violation), and when they did, it was only for me so I was separated from my family which is dangerous if I fell. My family had to help me down 3 flights of stairs, which was incredibly stressful. We received no empathy from staff. It is illegal to not provide safe exit routes for ALL tenants. The fact that we had to tell them that in order for them to begrudgingly offer us a room on the first floor is ridiculous and disappointing. The incompetent support team was very dismissive and disrespectful to my granddaughter. They even suggested that she sign a waiver saying that SHE would be personally responsible if anyone was trapped or injured in the elevator. That would not hold up in any court and is an absolutely despicable thing to suggest. They acted like I was an inconvenience. It put a huge damper on what should have been a lovely family vacation. Aside from the very illegal waiver they asked us to sign, undignified disrespect and general incompetence (their customer service is outsourced and does not communicate with hotel staff), they locked us out of our rooms before check-out time and didn't offer any kind of compensation for their carelessness. They also gave us a whole list of chores to complete before leaving which wasn't explained to us upon arrival. Their site should be more transparent about them expecting tenants to perform their own housekeeping. I will say it's a bit pricey, but it was Memorial weekend and you are literally on the water. Not sure what the off season rates are but there's a 3 night minimum. The condos are fully furnished and equipped with all your needs. They even had beach chairs, beach towels and coolers available. The bathrooms were a bit grungy and outdated. But overall the condos are kept pretty clean. We had unit 3D3 and it was super spacious. Parking was right out front. There are several local markets in the area to stock up on food,albeit a bit pricey. I recommend you stop at publix before entering island. If ever in Sanibel again, I will definitely book my stay here.
