One of my favorite FL stays to date! The Inn is just so personable and wonderful. All the colorful decorations and local tidbits transport you to an exotic and relaxing vacation stay. There's screened-in back porches for each room which all back up to one of the many canals of Matlacha. Janette the owner was so down-to-earth and a great person. She was so willing to help with any questions we had. We made our reservation through Airbnb and she was always very quick to reply if I messaged her. We had access to bikes to get around the island, kayaks for the canals, and even firewood at night if we desired to have a bonfire. There was just so much for us to use and all at such a great price per night. It's in the perfect location too- just down a side street off of the main street of Matlacha where lots of shops and eating are, so everything is easily walking distance. Oh, and pet friendly so my kitty cat got to come!!! Just can't say enough good things about this place, and I will 100% be coming back more in the future.

Great first impression because shortly after booking in Hotels.com, I received an email from the owners saying they were looking forward to our stay and meeting us. Checkin is at 2 pm, I received a text from Janette and Karl letting us know that our room was ready when we were and where to get our key. As soon as we got to the inn, we were greeted by Jamette and Iffy, her little puppy. My grand daughter was icer the moon getting to hold her. BTW, this is a pet friendly place. There are bikes a d kayaks to use during your stay. They are all in great shake. We were only staying for the night so we didnt get to utilize everything. I saw they rent boats and hane sunset cruises available. This little town is a gem and so much to do if you enjoy live music, great seafood a d eclectic art galleries. Lots of gift shops around too. Bring a fishing pole, you can either fish off the dock or go to the bridge down the street. The owner is absolutely pleasant and shows you around. She is readily available for you. I will be completely honest about this property. These are not handicap friendly , or if you are heavy. The sink and entrance to the shower takes some maneuvering to get between. . The room is very small. It's like a studio. I'd say ok for two adults and two children. The twin sleeper in the room would be wonderful if maybe it had a new mattress or a memory foam topper. I let my daughter and gran daughter sleep on the queen bed, while I took the twin sleeper. It might have suited a small child. I felt the springs in my back all night a d couldnt find any comfortable position There was one small thin pillow in the drawer, in dire need of filling. This is a really cute mom and pop Florida style motel unit, just needs some fine tuning of comfort upgrades in the bedding. There is a nice screen patio to have your coffee in the morning and lounge chairs by the dock. The Wifi is excellent a d there is a nice binder with reccomended things to do and restaurants. This Inn is in a residential neighborhood which makes it ideal. Nice and quite. I've already told a few friends about this gem. I thought at first who would move from the Keys to this town. I now know why. It's a great place to live and visit.

this is actual evidence that we were never notified, even after explicitly asking, that our room was rebooked. so much wasted time and money

Before I begin, I just want all the readers to know that I NEVER HAVE WRITTEN A REVIEW FOR ANYTHING, BUT I ALSO NEVER HAD A HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE LIKE I DID AT ANGLER'S INN IN MATLACHA, FLORIDA P.S.- JANETTE, WHO RATED THIS 5 STARS, IS THE OWNER! HEADS UP *Situation: Booked 3 nights. Had to return to Miami the 2nd day for college class. Planned on returning that night after class (after driving 2.5 hours), but told Janette she could try to rebook our room if we could get a refund for the 2nd and 3rd nights. (we didn't really like it the 1st night, so we didn't care if we came back or not). Since Janette never said she booked the room (even when we explicitly asked her prior to leaving Miami and coming back to Matlacha), we came back to get our money's worth.* The next morning, the owner Janette was completely rude to my friend and I. Her rude awakening at 11am with a loud knock saying "GIRLS ITS 11 TIME TO GO" when we weren't due to check out until the next day was inappropriate. When we tried explaining this to her, her direct quote after cutting me off was "bottom line is, YOU CAN'T STAY HERE". Mind you- this was the morning after we had arrived back at our room at 10:30pm, exhausted, only to find our hotel room door was locked and there was someone else sleeping inside OUR ROOM. Janette claimed it was a "miscommunication" but our back and forth text communication clearly states we would be returning later that night if she was unable to rent out our room. *see photos* She was supposed to NOTIFY us if she rented the room. So we clearly asked her before heading back to our room if she had rented it and her answer was "??" as if she didn't understand English. When we arrived to find our room occupied by someone else, luckily there was another open room where we could sleep until Janette would so rudely burst in in the morning AND LITERALLY KICKED US OUT FOR NO REASON. WE HAD PLANNED ON STAYING FOR 3 NIGHTS! Since we are young ladies, I blame her rudeness on a desire to rip off young girls. I don't think she would have acted this way had we been older adults. My theory is she knew that the other 3 rooms were checking out, and wanted to trick us into coming back and filling a room... a room which is highly over priced for the quality to begin with. Speaking about quality of the rooms, the first room we were in (Room 4), had only scalding hot water in the shower. The cold water spicket didn't even turn so the only option was to get burnt by using only the hot water side. The television didn't work in Room 4. The room smelled like a dirty mop and was old and dingy. The "Captain's Quarters" (Room 1) which we were forced to stay in the second night had stained sheets and the toilet did not flush. Also old and dirty, with dust caked on everything. The owners advertise that there are bikes you can use. Literally every single bike had broken or flat tires and were completely rusted. Couldn't even use them. The photos show a tandem bike, which doesn't exist at the hotel. This was the biggest waste of money I have literally ever experienced. Janette ruined our entire week, which was supposed to be a farewell trip for two best friends from childhood before we get separated across the country due to our jobs. SHE RUINED WHAT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE A RELAXING WEEK BEFORE TWO BEST FRIENDS, LIKE SISTERS, ARE ABOUT TO BE SEPARATED BY THOUSANDS OF MILES. I am still so LIVID that I had to post our experience with this place. I tried complaining to the Better Business Bureau, but turns out they aren't even certified. BIG SURPRISE. I am sure Janette will try to 'explain herself' and make it look like this was my fault. Listen, I work in customer service myself and this is NOT how you run a business. This is how you trick young college girls into funding for your Lexus payment.

Cayo Costa beach. It's about a 40 boat ride away from Angler's Inn Motel Dock

I picked it out of necessity as I did not feel like driving all the way to fort myers to get a cheaper place. They were very friendly. This place is pet friendly which is an enormous plus. Everything outside is perfectly maintained which gives the best impression! The studio is very nicely set up. It had a clean but comfortable look. Everything looks modern and updated probably because it had to be redone after the hurricane. I loved the firm mattress, the large fridge and enormous flat screen roku tv. I liked they provided popcorn which I popped in the microwave. The shower got super hot very quick so no lack of hot water. Shampoo conditioner and body wash is provided as well as a sample of body lotion. There is a coffee maker which I personally didn't use. Really liked the little gazebo to sit out. Parking was available right outside my door which was convenient. It's still slow season so it was quiet. I did not use the amenities so cannot review on that. The little minor things were: I could hear the upstairs when they'd drop stuff. You can also hear every single word of the unit next door so I went to bed and got up with those people based on noise. The bathroom would sometimes make loud bubble noises probably related to plumbing issues. The place was not fully clean, it looked like there was construction type dirt in the bathroom. Also there were some ants but it's Florida so might be normal. And the outdoor light didn't work so it was very dark walking my dog. The AC is a wall unit and very loud, the lowest allowed is 70 degrees - I wish it was less because I was hot. Great place but there's some improvements possible here and there. I'd stay here again if needed! $125 for the night was a decent price especially for the location and amenities they offer. I'm sure it's more during season, I stayed end of September on a weekday.

We rented a vacation home from this company and picked one with a hot tub. The hot tub did not work…read morefrom day one and partially emptied every day, leaving it too low to enjoy. The pool and spa did not filter properly and we contacted them about it, but it wasn't fixed until the 12th day of our 16 day stay, so we had massive amounts of bugs in the pool and spa until the filtering was corrected. Some of the beds were absolutely horrible. The master bed was lumpy, and completely sunk in and one bed in a second room was a futon cushion (this was not disclosed in the advertising). The bedding for both the king and queen beds were old, raggedy, pilled sheets and old, torn mattress pads. All closets had old leftover bedding in them and one closet was completely unusable because it was shoved full of old bedding etc which left no room for our clothes. The kitchen was not sufficiently stocked, or well organized; some items were old, worn out, and past their usefulness. The house had filthy window frames, sliders and blinds that were hard to open, and floors that were dusty under couches, and it felt like someone moved out, leaving behind their unwanted items. There was no care or consideration given to the paying/vacationing customer. On top of all this, we also learned we had to pay for all household items needed once the "starter" supplies were gone. The advertising for this rental was a complete misrepresentation and was certainly not ready to rent out as a vacation home. I would never rent from this company again and would never recommend anyone else does either.

We rented this property for 30 days and unfortunately had several significant issues during our…read morestay. Upon arrival, we immediately noticed an ant problem in the master bedroom and bathroom. We consistently found multiple ants in the bathtub, toilet, shower, and vanity area -- not just an occasional bug. I regularly sprayed where they were entering just to manage the issue. (Photos available.) Several light fixtures throughout the home had burnt-out bulbs when we arrived, including in the master bedroom and bath, living room, kitchen, and guest bedrooms. While there were extra bulbs available and I replaced them myself, at the price point of this rental, guests should not have to handle basic maintenance upon arrival. The second "master" suite advertised as a king bed was actually two twin mattresses pushed together. When two adults slept on it, the mattresses separated. The bedding provided was twin-sized, so our son and daughter-in-law each had separate twin sheets rather than proper king bedding. When we stripped the bed to wash the sheets, we discovered very old mattresses in poor condition with visible staining that did not meet reasonable hygiene standards for a rental. (Photos included.) During our stay, that bedframe broke because it had not been properly assembled or secured. My husband had to place bricks underneath it just to make it usable. We were told a replacement would be sent because bricks on the floor were not acceptable, but the replacement never arrived. The master bedroom mattress was also in poor condition, with broken springs and noticeable sinking and separation. When we arrived, there were loose screws scattered around the pool deck. We had to pick them up ourselves to prevent injury to us or our dogs. The oven display was burnt out, so we had to guess the temperature each time we baked. The air filters were extremely dirty and there was heavy dust buildup on the high living room ceiling fans. While I understand high ceilings are harder to maintain, guests are paying a cleaning fee and premium rental rate. Built-up dust and dirty air filters are not only unsanitary but unhealthy. (Photos available.) Although the pool was cleaned weekly, both my husband and I experienced UTIs during our stay that resolved after we left the property. Additionally, the washing machine ruined six of our shirts (four of them brand new) by leaving rust stains that could not be removed. When we reported it and sent photos as requested, the issue was never resolved. Overall, it felt as though maintenance and upkeep were not prioritized. Property management should ensure rental standards are consistently met. The layout of the home is fantastic for entertaining. The kitchen is spacious with plenty of room to cook and gather. We loved dining on the outdoor patio and spending family time swimming in the pool and watching movies in the open living area. The water views are beautiful -- we enjoyed watching boats pass daily. The surround sound system inside and outside was a great feature. Being able to play music while swimming, cooking, or relaxing was a huge plus. The office space was also very helpful for getting work done during our stay. Guest bedrooms had ample closet space and hangers, which is a thoughtful touch. The empty garage provided great storage for our car, bikes, and the ping pong table was a nice bonus. Being able to bring our dogs was also a highlight -- they enjoyed the stay just as much as we did. Final Thoughts: We stay in several vacation rentals each year, and unfortunately this was one of the most disappointing experiences we've had. With proper maintenance and attention to cleanliness and guest comfort, this property could be excellent. However, at its current price point, the upkeep and response to issues did not meet reasonable expectations. Guests should not have to manage pest control, basic maintenance, or unsafe conditions during their stay. We hope the owners and property management company take steps to address these concerns for future guests.
