I was visiting the Keys for 6 weeks and wanted to find a studio to visit regularly. I tried Shakti and another studio- but loved the vibe and teachers at Shakti. I practiced with both Tara and Lolita and loved their classes! Both teachers are passionate, experienced and have warm, infectious energy- and lead awesome fun classes! I didn't practice with Sofia but she also has years of experience and a warm soul! I look forward to practicing at Shakti when I'm back in the Keys! read more

The Power Flow is AMAZING ~ challenging in just the right ways. As someone who regularly practices yoga in various styles, I had a great time on my mat. Mats and all other props are provided with the $17 drop in rate (12/23/18). When you arrive, the yoga studio is in the back of the building, tucked behind a juice bar/ natural store. I didn't try anything when I was there but it seemed very popular! If you're dropping in, head to the back, sign in and then pay the instructor after class. It is clear in the class description but to reiterate: this is not a class for beginners. That said, modified poses were welcomed but not talked through (so you'd need to be familiar with your options). read more

This is a cool place. When you walk in it feels like a boutique, and there is a neat juice bar in the back corner. For sale: some jewelry, clothing and natural skin care products. They also have ample comfortable seating strewn about to wait for your yoga class or enjoy a refreshing drink from the juice bar (like the "Jamu Jamu / Indo Tonic" that I ordered: Lemon, turmeric, honey, and sparkling water) or an interestingly infused (free) glass of water. Beyond the juice bar is a little hallway that leads to a small interior room where people pay and sign in for yoga class. (This is also where the mats & stuff are stored.) Then, after reading a sign that reminds you that you are responsible for the energy you bring to class, you proceed into this lovely, high ceilinged yoga room. There are a few high windows that draw a box or two of sunlight on the floor between the mats... and you embark on a 1-hour yoga class from a respectable instructor. It could have a very relaxed bohemian vibe in which you could bask before meandering on to the rest of your day, but I think I took the Real Housewives of Key West version and the ladies weren't very friendly. I give them 3.5 stars. They weren't UNfriendly, but some of them certainly weren't being responsible for their energy (they must not have read the sign). That harshed my vibe a bit, but could easily change depending on the clientele. (Oh and PS there were some dudes around as well. Sure, there are more women (as there probably are in most yoga studios?) but men can get their yoga on too.) They offer a variety of classes that seem to suit a range of abilities. If you are new or somewhat new to yoga, there are several options that you could try without fear of overexerting yourself or looking like an idiot. More experienced yogis (not me) will have the option of challenging classes. A good find and at least worth taking a walk-through if you are considering yoga while in Key West. read more

If you do yoga you've probably checked Shakti Yoga out. If you are not a yogi - the studio is more than just a yoga studio and juice cafe. Shakti Yoga has multiple seating areas in a soothing environment. "Relax" hits you when you walk in the door, from the music to the delicious aromas filling the air. Just watching the barista create my marsala tea is art. If you're not a frequent visitor of Key West you may not find, or know about this place. Worth a visit, no place like it in Key West - food made with love and it tastes that way too. read more

I was in town for a friend's birthday & had a day to myself to check out the yoga studios in Key West. Shakti was a short bike ride from where we were staying. The time slot that worked for me was the Gentle Flow with Sofia. Typically I don't take slow flow classes but I was so glad that I did. The room quickly filled with dozens of regulars to the studio. There was a buzz of energy in the air as everyone settled in on their mat and caught up with each other's goings on. I loved Sofia's teaching style, her ability to give good verbal cues along with her ability to laugh as she taught such a large group. The painting of Ganesh by local artist & yoga teacher Marlene Koenig was stunning! The changing patters of daylight across Ganesh brought out the nuances of the painting. Some highlights were done in pearlescent paint which *popped* when the light hit it at an angle. Lovely image to focus on while practicing yoga! I am so glad I had the opportunity to spend some quality time at Shakti. Thank you! read more

I visited Key West by boat to be ready for my husband's jury service. I found this studio on Yelp and visited because of the reviews. I have done Yoga for over twenty years, including in CA where the discipline is extreme. This was a beautiful blend of top notch yoga practice with a Key West gentleness. I will visit anytime I come to Key West from Key Largo. The studio is lovely and the teachers and other students welcoming. Participation at a personal level is encouraged and followed. This studio is so spectacular I wish I could bring it home with me! The studio is perfect, well ventilated with lovely amounts of sunshine. The teachers I have encountered are gracious and welcoming. We went each day of our vacation - their class selections are well rounded and true to their descriptions. I brought my mat but they have everything you could need free of charge. Great class. Took the slow flow with my mom the other day and we had a great time. Definitely recommend.

A pleasant and clam setting for yoga. The team was kind and welcoming of newcomers/drop-ins. $17 includes mat rental. The room is bright and clean with a colorful ganesha on the wall. Bonus for the fresh juice and smoothie bar in the front room of the studio. My only complaints are that the room was a bit chilly and the yoga flow wasn't very traditional. We will return prior to our vacations end. read more

Amazing class- challenging but not impossible, nothing is ;) Sofia pushes you to your limits in a safe structured manor. Down to earth physical practice with a spiritual side. Wonderful studio, amazing teacher. Shakti recently added a great juice and coffee bar. Walking into the newly designed space gives you the immediate sense of arrival. You feel and know that you have come to a place of complete compassion. Though more on the YIN side you don't feel 'excluded' as a male yoga practitioner. Winter (in season) tends to get very crowded, so be sure to get there early - place your mat, have a Mini Jamu (turmeric,tamarind,lime Shot) and enjoy the wholeness you experience! What an amazing little studio... OK well it just grew. Sofia has moved yet again into her best space ever. I have been going to Shakti for 5 years now and it is still by far my favorite yoga studio in North America. The classes are challenging and are ever changing. Lots of variety and a wonderful selection of really wonderful teachers. Classes are innovative and interesting and routinely incorporate pranaya, banda exercises and chanting. This is a Yoga studio outside from the Duval scene but still close enough to all hotels. The juice bar offers a nice touch, classes are thorough and diverse. I took 2 classes with Tara, a Vinyasa flow ( excellent) and a Paddle Yoga class that I absolutely enjoyed. A must for yogis in Key West :) read more

i recently moved to key west and decided to continue my yoga practice at shakti yoga studio and it has been a great experience. they have a nice variety of classes including varying levels of vinyasa flow, hatha, gentle, and restorative. i've been particularly enjoying the gentle yoga classes during my third trimester of pregnancy. the gentle yoga class is great for anyone and involves lots of stretching and opening. through my experience in these classes, i'd say that it is particularly good for older people, those with back issues or recovering injuries, athletes/runners, or anyone who has flexibility or tightness issues. so, check it out... your body and mind will thank you! read more
