Coming from a Chinese family, I grew up eating Savory Chicken. I had them during special occasions…read moreat my grandma's house, I had them when we had guests at our house, and I had them when my mom was too busy to cook for the day I decided just to have two whole chickens to be delivered to our house. Savory Chicken brings back so many good memories of good and lots of laughter. Their sauce is so addicting as I love to slather it on top of my rice. Sometime, I like mixing the sauce with some banana ketchup to produce that sweet and salty mixture. Makes it even better! So I was heartbroken to learn about the fire that recently happened at their main Escolta restaurant. Hopefully, this well-loved restaurant will get back to business pretty soon. While there are plenty of other Savory branches in the Metro, nothing beats the original Savory.

I've been seeing a lot of mall outlets bearing the famous Savory name but the original branch is…read morestill hard to beat. The place is old looking and past its prime but customers doesn't seem to mind. They come here for great tasting food and Savory doesn't disappoint. My favorite is their pancit. Not the dry pancit that we usually get from other restaurants but the one with thick sauce. Generous amounts of vegetables, mushrooms and meat garnishes the noodles. The location of the original branch is a bit hard to reach specially if you don't have your own car but I still recommend the said place. It's located in the old escolta which used to be the center of commerce in old Manila. This is the Ayala Center of BGC of Spanish times. The food itself will make the trip to Savory worth it but you might as well include a sidetrip and explore the grandeur of old Escolta. You can walk off the calories that you gained from the delicious dishes of Savory and have a trip to memory lane at the same time. Sounds like a pretty good bargain for me.

The employees that work here merit 5 Stars alone as they are extremely genuinely cheerful, enthusiastic, and energetic greeting you when you enter the establishment as they show how happy they are to enter their presence. That contagious positive energy makes anyone smile just being there. It was an awesome experience that makes you happy!! I loved it and became instantly happy to be there being greeted in such an upbeat way. It made me look forward to the meal I was going to partake of. The ordering process seemed easy enough and we thought we were both on the same page with our party's order but when our tray was delivered to us, we only received 1/2 our order of hash browns we paid for so we had to whip out the receipt to remedy the situation. So there was cconfuaiom with our order but it was rectified. Looking for a place to sit,, the seat cushions were completely worn out, cracked and torn so it didn't look pleasing to sit on. It needs to be replaced! The place is clean and we can see an employee busy mopping. Now hungry for breakfast, after receiving our food to enjoy, we were thoroughly disappointed with the quality of the way things were fried. The hash browns' taste were not on par with our expectations. It tasted like it was fried in old oil that had fried chicken over and over again so the hash brown was not good and I was completely disgusted with the taste. McDonald's is a franchise known for their consistency and the quality of the hash browns here was lacking. It was the same story with my companions expecting a different taste. Thinking the Rich Chocolate Pie would cheer us up, again, the way it was fried made me spit it out in a napkin. The inside chocolate was delicious however ans tasted much like warm chocolate pudding. But those two items were a waste since they were inedible. For these reasons, I sadly gave this place two stars in the hopes that they can make things better for their future clients' experience.

AMBIENCE Restaurant is situated where Jamba Juice used to be…read moreand it also has a second floor. When we entered, the entire first floor was packed and lines were long for ordering and claiming. The crowd eventually lessened as several minutes went by but there were still a lot of customers. FOOD We tried the 3PC Chicken Tenders and the 1PC Chicken and both had different textures especially on the coating. Tenders were typically good but the Bold BBQ dip was the star flavor in this combo; tasted really good! 1PC had tender white meat and a really thick coating, which tasted good but made the chicken actually look smaller. Biscuit was just as good as before and still somewhat plain, which I totally appreciate. At first, I thought the flavor was infused into the biscuit but turns out you put it in like you would with butter. Our flavor was honey but the experience of placing it in the biscuit was more interesting than the actual flavor. Spaghetti had a sweet and subtly unique taste. Fries had a nice and crispy texture. Among our orders, I still think only about those good and plain biscuits. SERVICE We had to wait quite awhile because there were lots of customers, and one number was called several times sometime before ours. The customer of that number never came and I was able to eventually get our order. I'd like to suggest that they use a TV screen (unless they have one upstairs already) or a pager to call out the number especially for customers upstairs.

Even in smallish towns like this one. Seriously it's like a second religion for Filipinos haha. My friend's words not mine. Some of you might have had it here in America but I personally think it's just a lot better here! Ok so for me there are 3 must gets when you eat here.. fried chicken, the spaghetti and the mango/buko(coconut) pies! Seriously that spaghetti and those mango pies are fantastic. I also liked the hotdog too but you might not be as hungry as I was haha. And as always with most Filipino dining it was super cheap. Total I think I paid like $6(300php) I think this is my shortest review ever but there's really not much else to say to tbh. It's really good fast food with equally good service. I love Jollibee!

And just like the last time, they were efficient and got everything out FAST. (We ordered 2 family packs and a couple of burgers on the side.) Initially, I thought it'd be a challenge and it'd take too long since they barely had anything on their warmers. But nope! It's as if they knew we were coming! Of course everything was delicious! If you are familiar with Jollibee's products, you know their friend chicken is stand alone YUMMERS!!! FOOD: 5. SERVICE: 5. (Consistency is key!) VALUE: 5. PARKING: A couple of spots up front. Otherwise, double parking is okay. OVERALL: 5. I think I may just make it a tradition to stop here on our way to that famous tourist spot from now on...

How can you eat burgers without fries? I think they just don't want to work ! WTF! We almost don't want to come back if they will treat us like this. It was no like this before ! I always passed by this place from a distance so I never saw what was inside. In my head, this was like a random Philippine Navy or Army recruiting station located in a busy restaurant area of Camp John Hay. On this most recent trip to Baguio I finally walked close by ArmyNavy. I was totally wrong! It turns out that ArmyNavy is actually a fast food restaurant that serves up delicious food. Haha! The menu is quite long! They serve up burgers, mexican-style dishes, chicken and filipino breakfast. On my first visit I ordered their pinoy breakfast burrito. The burrito had spanish rice, fried egg and chicken adobo flakes. This burrito was so rich but soooooo good! Try it with a side of sour cream. On another visit I tried their fried chicken. The leg and thigh pieces were really juicy and the skin crisp. I was really surprised at how delicious the chicken was. Unfortunately the white gravy paired with the chicken was a bit too peppery. Another miss was the stuffed chocolate croissant with the vanilla ice cream. It looked great in the picture but it fell apart quickly and the croissant was kind of stale. Overall, solid fast food restaurant chain in the Philippines. Personally, I thought this place was much better than the uber-popular Jolibee chain. Check them out!
