I can't believe it took me this long to write my review about this place. I first went here during the pandemic in 2020 for takeout. I'm glad this business is still open. I recommend if you're a pizza fan to try their style of pies. YES, I know there's a lot to choose from but in Fremont I consider this place a solid spot. This pizzeria has been here in our city for years and the pies are delicious. Slices are never cold, always loaded, and many types of pizza toppings to choose from. If you're looking for a homey local spot, check this place out. If you want something luxuriously, modern and fusion, this place isn't for you as it's more classic in my view. There's ample seating in the restaurant for work get-to-togethers or friends catching up over a shared pie. Their selection of beers isn't bad either! Hope you give them a chance. read more

We were in Newark for a basketball tournament at Newark Memorial HS and we had some time before the game. We were looking for a good pizza place and decided to give Shakers a try. We are glad we gave it a try. Great service, friendly staff, and tasty pizza! Loved the arcade games and tv's to watch sports. It definitely gives you a late 80's or 90's vibe and I loved it. The pizza: it was good and I really liked their crust. My husband had the pepperoni and enjoyed it. I had some sausage and onion and it was tasty. My son had the cheese and he liked it. We also tried their garlic cheese bread which came with ranch. It was pretty good. Being from the Midwest, I loved the ranch they served with it. Idk what happened to the good crust they use to have. The pizza we got today was kinda round but not really and it was not fluffy with a good chewy like it used to be. They had a lot of staff but the only one that looked happy to serve my family was the young man that brought our pizza to the table. Everyone else gave a don't ask me for anything type vibes. Also what's up with the "salad bar"? They have regular store bought bottles for dressings and store bagged croutons and toppings. Why pay for something that you have at home ? Positives: Friendly, attentive and positive staff. Pizza toppings were good, sauce and toppings remind me of Round Table's which is pretty good, IMO. Great ambience, atmosphere similar to the old Shakee's pizzerias of the past. Negatives: If I have to nit-nick anything it might be the crust which is a bit thick for my perfect liking, but that is probably a matter of style more than anything. Shakers seems to be a little hit or miss sometimes, but usually the pizza is great. Tonight we really enjoyed our half meatball half hawaiian pizza. The cheese was melted perfectly, the crust was cooked just right and we got our money's worth. It can be loud inside at times because there are games and tvs, but it has a great "old fashioned" pizza place vibe. I am not the biggest fan of the service- I find it inconsistent. I have always passed this place and could never actually stop until now! It's definitely a hole in the wall, anybody who likes nostalgia will love this place. Inside the building definitely reminds me of a 90s vibe, has an arcade, a salad buffet bar, and a cool old school bar. The service was outstanding, it was pretty empty so everyone all teamed up to help me even though i just placed a pickup order over the phone. *Warning* they do NOT have a website, you can only order over the phone and they unfortunately do not deliver, but when you look them up on google, it says that you can order online but it's a scam company that takes your money. The company announced it on their Facebook page, but i just wanted to let everyone know on here as well in case they don't know. *End warning* Other than that, the pizza was good. It was not a 5 star pizza unfortunately, but it is a 4 star pizza which is still good. Again, we did pick up, so i believe that the pizza would be amazing if you ate inside. They have a good selection of beer and a pretty big salad bar but the pizza is a different story. After a 50 minute wait, we finally got our pizza and it looked good (because of how hungry we were) but it did not taste as good as it looked. The veggies were undercooked and the bottom of the pizza was so hard not even my baby could eat it. If you're looking for a good place to eat, I would suggest Bronco Billy's pizza in Nile's (they never go wrong!). But yeah this place is over-rated and over hyped. I usually get the combination pizza with fresh tomatoes (meaning they're put on when it comes out of the oven) gives it a fresh taste. They even have green olives, which takes me back to pizza in my home town. I go with "extra crispy crust too". Local neighborhood Pizza, seems like the perfect place for kids birthdays and after-sports events. A sweet family owns this place and I would continue to support this over any franchises. Call-in order was easy and I really liked picking up from the giant wooden door, my son calls it the "pizza castle" and I always get the feeling of a grand adventure or mystery when grabbing the door handles and swinging open those large front doors. Both pizzas had slightly puffier and dough-y crust than other places. This isn't necessarily bad, my wife loved dough like this. Working in the neighborhood I was in need of a decent lunch. I drove past this joint and it caught my eye being the only non commercial fast food spot in the immediate area. Decent sized parking lot and to go orders only so it worked out for me either way on my 30 min lunch break I got the mini pizza with a soda meal which is sold only until 2pm fyi. It's about the size of a ballpark pizza but without the pizza hut taste or the round table price. I'm usually against tiny pizzas because the toppings to crust ratio usually gets lost. Today I made the exception and glad I did. No flavor left behind in the small sized pie. Flavor jam packed into the small box. Very impressed with the flavor but not as impressed as when I was paying at the register. I was expecting to spend a good 10-15 bones but to my surprise.. it was 4.75 for the mini pizza and a decent sized fountain drink. Literally made my day that much better and I left a tip for the amount I was expecting to spend to show my appreciation. The inside is pretty cool and when covid and all that else passes, seems like a fun place to watch a game and have a good time. Customer service was pretty good too. I was told 15-20 mins for my food and I arrived in 15 exactly when it was being pulled out of the oven. If I could say anything bad about my experience it's the straw for my soda was like an icee shovel on one end type but that's nothing to even consider holding against them. I have not been here for over 10 years. Shakers was a piece of my childhood. Many of my friends would have birthday parties here. Today the family and I decided to order pizza. I am so happy we did.I loved that the pizza was hot and fresh when I picked it up. All the employees wore masks and were following the covid guidelines. The Hawaiian pizza was perfect. The crust had a great chew, the sauce has a lot of flavor and all the toppings worked well together. It tasted just like I remembered. We also had the garlic bread with cheese. My parents have been taking me to Shakers since I was a little kid. As an adult I now bring my kids here. We love their pizzas and the staff USED to be amazing. Unfortunately today, I'm writing a review regarding their customer service. We placed an order for pick up. When I got there, I was greeted by a young girl working the register. I shouldn't say that I was "greeted" at all. Normally when you walk into an establishment you're greeted with a, "Hi, how are you?" or a "Hi, how can I help you,?" Instead I got a "Yeah", no smile, no friendliness, no expression, nothing. I was a little confused and instantly thrown off. It had me thinking that maybe I did something wrong but I had literally just walked in and said hi to her lol. Her whole vibe and attitude took me by surprise, because that's just unprofessional and RUDE. I decided to ignore it and proceeded to tell her that I was there to pick up my order. After giving her the name of the order it was under, she walks away without saying anything. Again, standing there confused and beginning to get a little irritated. She then brings the order to the register and taps the card payment thing and says, "pay here". She didn't even bother to confirm what I ordered. At this point I'm biting my tongue and ignoring her rudeness,. I inserted my card and made the payment. I stood there waiting for the screen to confirm my payment, but I didn't see a payment confirmation. As I stood there waiting for for her to say that it went through or at least say thank you. She just stood there. So I asked her if the transaction went through and she dead looked at me in the eyes and said with an attitude YEEEAH and just stared at me as if I was stupid for not knowing. There wasn't a thank you, nothing. Again, just RUDE. I asked for her name. It's Sophia. Unfortunately, all it takes is for one person to ruin it for customers that enjoyed coming to Shakers and that have been coming here for years. Unfortunately, for us, that person was Sophia. It was $28 (they charge a dollar for each extra topping) Pros: - local business, peeking in the inside it looks like it would be a really chill place to chill, grab a beer, and watch the game. A sad update for a much loved classic pizza parlor. We've been coming here for over a decade. We've hyped you on social media. We've enjoyed the video games, the salad bar, the crispy pizza and the beer. We have even well tipped your surly service for many years. It was just part of the place's rough charm! Unfortunately, those days are gone. We're done. Shakers has fallen victim to the greatest failure of small family businesses across the country: a generation of children with zero interest in actually running their parents' business, and an older generation who is apparently unable to recognize that they are incapable of running the business themselves! Instead of passing a thriving business on to an eager younger generation or a community buyer, the owners of Shakers have resorted to employing a sad army of under trained teenagers who nobody would task with caring about the legacy of anything, let alone an iconic pizza spot. The owners are obviously intent on running this place into the ground rather than doing what is necessary to save it (sell it to somebody, ANYBODY, who actually cares about it!). Tonight when we visited in the middle of summer, there was NO air conditioning, and STILL no music (this ridiculous silence has persisted for OVER TWO YEARS, when the juke box subscription was inexplicable cancelled). Televisions are running baseball games on silent????? Video games are constantly malfunctioning, but don't think you can get help with that, because the broken games are covered in signage telling you just how little the staff cares about your kids' wasted quarters. Tell your crying children that they can lose their money "at their own risk!!" The place was like a graveyard on a summer weekend evening! I'm baffled by how much money y'all seem happy to waste by creating such an unwelcoming space. I asked the minimum wage employee about the ownership status of the place, but she was quick to assure me that there are plenty of negligent family members who are committed to keep bringing this place to new lows for years to come! It's sad that this family business is so happily flushing their own legacy, and the community's memories, straight down the toilet. We tried to love you for more than a decade, Shakers. First time trying this place! We ordered one extra large Combo and a large half half Hawaiian and All Meats! Although some of the meats were salty, the pizzas were still pretty good! The bread/crust was a little thick, but I liked how it was a bit crunchy. However, I was disappointed with the Hawaiian because I found 4 strands of hairs (eyelashes and hair) on 2 slices alone.
