    Cheeseburger, single patty

Let me begin this review with a warning: I am not a burger lover. I don't often crave burgers. When I do try one, I am incredibly picky and often difficult to please. With that said, I loved everything I ate at the original Shake Shack in Madison Square Park. The ideal day to visit is on a warm, cloudless weekend, when you can sit outside under the sun, listening to the nearby jazz band playing their tunes. Unfortunately I came on a cold day in the middle of fall, but I did enjoyed sitting outside nonetheless. I know, I know. You want to hear about the food. I ordered a classic: a cheeseburger with fries and an orange soda to wash it all down. The fries were golden and crisp on the outside, soft and potato-ey on the inside. They were tasty enough to enjoy without any dressing, but I just *love* having ketchup with fries, so I had slathered mine with that. Now, the burger: The bun was soft. The lettuce? Crisp. The tomato was fresh and enjoyable (and I'm someone who normally hates raw tomatoes). The smashed patty had crisp edges and a meaty center. The American cheese - melty. The proprietary sauce, superb. It's exactly how I like my burger - where the elements come together in one cohesive, juicy, saucy bite. One critique: I wish it came with onions. In my opinion, Shake Shack beats out all the fancy $20 burgers you get at trendy bars and restaurants in New York City.

Ok I get it. I get it! I finally get why people can compare this to in n out. I miss in n out all the time but I don't have to anymore. Shake shack is stellar. The juiciest thickest burgers. So good. Loved the Halloween promo for buy one double burger get another free. The Fries are terrific, tho I paid for Parmesan truffle fries and it was just sprinkled cheese and a sauce to pour on. Felt lazy. The onion rings were great. The funnel cake shake was truly mind blowing. I think it's one of the best shakes I've ever had.

If you see this guy being loud at order pickup, keep walking & don't order. He was distracting workers & slowed orders down.

I hear this was the original location and although I was not hungry to order anything, I decided to order a shake for my daughter. Figured it would be a quick stop and be off to catch the next subway in 15 mins. Instead, there was a guy at order pickup that stiff there being loud and distracting all the workers. I observed along with other patrons, very annoyed as anyone can imagine. 10 mins in and my simple shake never made it out. By this time I'm missing the next subway I was expecting to catch. I went to the order line and let them know I was still waiting on my shake. Had it in my hand shortly after. Walked away and that guy was still there...

Really can't beat a shake shack burger-- I'd splurge on two burgers rather than add on the fries, but they're both great-- between this and seventh street burger they're both on the top of the list for me-- Cheers!

Everything you'd expect from Shake Shack. A decent burger for the price. This location is busy so wait time is needed. Good service and pretty clean.

Six chicken nuggets with Shake Shack sauce, fries and a strawberry milkshake. I sat in the sunshine to have lunch. The milkshake had melted to sipping consistency and was flavorful and perfect on this warm day. The fries were crisp and soft inside. Chicken nuggets? Dismal. I rarely eat nuggets but I wanted them as they were only six and I had already eaten a small avocado after a workout. The breading was coming apart and they were dry. Wasn't anyone paying attention in the kitchen? No supervisor? I was disappointed and glad I had eaten the avocado. For nearly $18+change, this was quite a waste of money. Customer service was fine and the busboy who asked to clean my table was nice. I rarely go to Shake Shack anymore but would like to have the Banana Pudding milkshake special which will be here all summer long.

I wasn't really expecting to eat Shake Shack during my NYC trip, especially since they now have a location in downtown Toronto. But we were out and about and we happened upon the very first location of the venerable burger franchise, so we really didn't have a choice in the matter. I wasn't super hungry so I decided to keep it simple by ordering the ShackBurger ("Angus beef cheeseburger with lettuce, tomato, and ShackSauce on a toasted potato bun"). Even though there was a very large group waiting for their orders, my burger was ready within minutes. We managed to snag a nearby table and I dug in. It's really good. I did try the Toronto version and it seemed tasty but nothing spectacular. This was spectacular. It had a really pronounced, irresistible crust and the toppings were perfectly applied. I enjoyed the heck out of it. I can see why Shake Shack has become such a phenomenon, if this was any indication. So good.

Went to the original Shake Shack in Madison Square park to get my lunch. Put in my order via shake shack app. My order was ready in about 10 minutes. The chicken shack, bites and shack-cago dog, all were freshly made, tasted amazing. Chicken shack had a huge piece of chicken, filled with lettuce, sauce and pickle, wrapped in a soft bread. Shack-cago was an excellent hot dog. All the ingredients like radish, pickle, onion, mustard make it very interesting, much better than plain hot dog.

The most amazing burger ever! I cannot believe it until the cheese and sauce melted in my mouth. I was like wow The sauce and the cheese that went along with the beef is what it did its job compared to other burger chains. The sad part is that the burger is a tad bit smaller than other burgers although you can order a double patty for hungry people! Fries are great too and crinkly!! Not dry and over seasoned! Just how I like it. This place is the first out of the whole chain so it's the famous one people should hit up! Many seats all around since it's located in the middle of Madison Park.

Brown lettuce, long line, slow service, and receipt printer broken.... Dubai shake was good though so will give it 2 stars I guess...

The famous original Shake Shack. I've read many people recommend going to the original location. I've had Shake Shack before but never bothered going to this spot despite always being in the area. Truth be told I never really noticed it. Anyway, it was a beautiful day in NYC and the park was lovely. I was in the mood for burger so I decided to stop by. If you had Shake Shack then you probably know what to expect. The burger was good and the cheese fries were decent at best. I was actually impressed with the burger this time around. Although I doubt the location made a difference. Although it was nice to sit in the park and enjoy the meal. I ordered online to skip the line and my food was available within 10mins. The location was busy and hectic. It came off a bit disorderly inside the kiosk. Still, my order was right and everything came out the way it was supposed to. I will say that Shake Shack is probably one of the better burgers out there. Where they lose me is the price. My whole order came out to $17 and which is ridiculous. A burger and fries shouldn't cost that much in my opinion. It doesn't help when there were cheap fast food options nearby. After I finished my meal I immediately regretted it. I could've went to Popeyes, Sticky's, McDonalds, etc and had a cheaper and just as fulfilling meal. The food was good but just not worth the price. If it were about $5 cheaper I'd be writing a different type of review. Still, do it once if you're burger fan. The food was good and the park added to the experience. You can tell people you ate at the original Shake Shack.

This is where the magic started, the birth of Shake Shack in the heat of Madison Park! I love coming here at dusk with the outdoor lights and dimming city views. Grab a burger, grab a shake, and take a walk = perfect night! Service can be quite slow since it's a busier location, but it's fun to take visitors when they're in town. Madison Park, itself, is beautiful and centrally located near other attractions like the Harry Potter Store and Eataly Flatiron.

The breading on these chicken fingers was nothing special and again, so so small. Service was fast at least, but the place itself was dirty and virtually every table needed a wipe down. I know, I know, it's Penn Station, it's supposed to be a little grimy. Honestly, if these chicken fingers weren't so tiny and my fries were properly cooked I could deal with a little grime. Mama bear got a Spanish chaufa which is basically the Peruvian version of fried rice. She seemed to enjoy it. I also got a side of squash soup which was pretty good. We washed it all down with Jarritos, the Mexican soda. Solid choice. Now the restroom situation. Chirp does not have a public restroom. My mom was bothered by that and I could see her starting to make it a thing. I had to nip that in the bud. I get it, I understand, but that is not the hill I die on. No restroom, no worries.
