I was staying at the Residence across the street and needed something to go with my ribs. The fires are always too much, one order can take care of two people. This was no exception, lots of fries. This Five Guys location (1008 6th Avenue, New York 10018) is a hidden gem. The ambiance, service, and food (burgers) were great! It was a perfect choice to have an 18th birthday party for my daughter and her 18 friends. We had a total of 22 people who used the 2nd floor as a private party room on March 16th at 3PM. It was less than a 10-minute walk from our main venue Squid Game: The Experience at Manhattan Mall. We worked with management at this location. We provided an advanced list of pre-selected burger, topping, fries, and drinks. As soon as we arrived at 3PM, the management and staff greeted us with open arms. The second floor tables were combined together to create a very long table seating arrangement; the 2nd floor can accommodate at least 30 people. Once we were there, the kitchen crew began making the food. The entire food cooking and packing were completed in 15 minutes. All the orders were accurate. The burgers were fresh and tasted fabulous. Everyone enjoyed the food and ambiance! Gratuity and food costs were less than $500 for 22 people. Since they didn't have any dessert options, management approved us to get 24 Saint Patrick's Day donut from Krispy Kreme (994 6th Ave) to use as a substitute birthday cake. It was a big hit! Service came quick and with an order of two hamburgers and 2 regular cajun fries, we got to eat 5 minutes after ordering our food. The burgers definitely hit home and is a major contender for any fast food chain. The employees were really nice and definitely loaded our burgers as well as filling our togo bag with extra fries than expected. The line moved fast and I placed my order: 4 cheeseburgers, no bun - bowl, mustard and mayo. The employees were working well together and appeared to follow the Five Guys process. The orders were prepared in an efficient manner. Everyone was smiling and productive. I was impressed at the well-orchestrated line. In no time my number was called. I picked up my order and returned to my hotel. At the hotel, food was hot and tasty - everything prepared as ordered. The place was clean and appeared to be a well-functioning restaurant. This one is small but there is still a little bit of seating. The food is the food at least they have that down..tastey. However, the workers here need a bit more "work faster" like the one on 42nd. This is a real lunch time spot not many tourist so be about that and work in a timely manner. Especially when its busy, young people enjoy your job. I have been eating quite a bit of 5 Guys in various midtown locations. The food is remarkably consistent which is a compliment. The burgers are a solid 8+. Which is a high grade in my picky universe. Add the wide range of toppings and the price and it kicks it up to a 9. The grilled cheese is a 7. I like adding random ingredients like mushrooms or pickles which kicks it up a notch. The grilled cheese could use a little more cheese and a range of cheeses to choose from, maybe add cheddar or mozzarella the mux, would probably make it a bit better. The fries are great. Have I had better fries ?, ABSOLUTELY. Have I had better fries in a chain restaurant ?, ABSOLUTELY NOT. Fries are a solid 10 when you factor in price, the extra scoop they throw in the bag, and consistency. Nicely salted, never crusty, just a nice fry. The service is awesome. Employees seem genuinely happy to interact with customers. I have only once had an order incorrectly prepared. Manager came over and personally made my replacement. Throw in cleanliness. Another solid 10. These places are always clean. Not that I have cleanliness issues, okay maybe a little, but I appreciate wiped down tables and clean floors. Added bonus, old man music. This new Five Guys is in an awesome location for work lunches, located at 38/6. It's a little small on the first floor, so it's not super well equipped for some of the long lines that can form during lunchtime. They still seem to be figuring things out--when I came, they actually seemed to drop my order by accident until I brought it up (I was #33, and they started getting into the mid-40's, so I didn't get my order until maybe 20 minutes after it was placed). That being said, they handled this incident really well (the fry guy was a boss), offering me some free items if I wanted and really taking care of it right away as soon as the issue was raised. The staff is nice, and the inside is kept really clean, which is impressive. I didn't check out the upstairs seating, but it looks like a lot of space. Unlike many other fast food/casual places in the city, the food here actually keeps up with their suburban locations, if not surpassing it. My burger was really well-made with my toppings of choosing, and it wasn't crazily greasy like many Five Guys burgers I've gotten at other places. Unfortunately, you do have to deal with city fast food prices here, so don't be surprised when you see an $8-9 burger on the menu. My cajun fries were also solid, nothing short of the best I've had in the past. Five Guys is going to have competition with Chick-fil-A and Shake Shack so close, but with this quality, I hope they do well. as for my once every 2 or 3 months guilty pleasure , five guys do a good job at that but damn the mega calories and sodium is no pleasure at all. this new guys spot is a few months old and it's pulling in a crowd or a diverse crowd who enjoy 8 dollar burgers and 3 dollar fries in cajun and five guys style . burgers , hot dogs , fries , grilled cheese sandwiches , blt sandwiches, veggie sandwiches and you can get each with any of your favorite toppings with no limit . i like the self service soda machine that has over 30 different flavors of soda so you can mix it up if you like . if you stop by the busy lunch hour expect to wait 10 minutes and more after placing your order with the front counter cashier . the main level has two small space window counter area to sit and eat while the weirdos stare at you while you munch or sit at the high tables and chairs to the left and try to eat in peace while customers make their way to the front to order and stare at your food as they walk on by , screw that all and just walk upstairs to the upper level which is much more spacious with plenty of tables and a bit more privacy so you can enjoy your 1,800 calorie lunch . i ordered a hot dog plain and fries with no salt with a small soda (refills are free ,so order a small drink).Overall a decent American fast food joint , now time to walk from white plains to manhattan to burn that 2,000 calories . read more
