Kiddie Up Nannies

Kiddie Up Nannies

After deciding to start a nanny share with another family, we initially thought that we could save ourselves some money and hire a nanny ourselves by advertising for the position on websites like Care.com and Facebook. However, this proved extremely time-consuming, yielded few qualified applicants, and resulted in someone we tried to hire backing out last minute, leaving us with just two weeks before our current childcare ended... with no nanny, no additional qualified applicants, and no time or energy left for the search (since it was a busy time for me at work). At that point, we contracted with Kiddie Up to help us find a nanny for our nanny share. Just one day after signing the contract, Maggie set up a conference call with me and the other mom and posted the position posted right away. Within four days of signing the contract, Maggie sent us four qualified applicants and we started interviews right away. During and after our nanny search, Maggie was extremely communicative via email, always answering my questions within 24 hours but usually much faster. The nannies who applied to our position through Kiddie Up were of a MUCH higher caliber than any we found on our own. All of them had already passed a background check, completed an interview with Maggie, and had their references checked before we received their applications. I feel extremely thankful that we found our amazing and experienced nanny among those applicants. She has been working for us for four weeks now and has far exceeded our expectations in every single way! Without Maggie and Kiddie Up, we never would have found her. Maggie also helped us with contract negotiations and set us up with a wonderful, experienced temporary nanny who worked for just my family during the two weeks before our permanent nanny could start. If you want to hire a professional nanny, I highly recommend contracting with Maggie and Kiddie Up Nannies. Their services are well worth the cost and much more reasonable than other agencies. The negative reviews are the exact opposite of my experience with Maggie and Kiddie Up. If in doubt, I suggest you email Maggie yourself to see what kind of response you receive. I trust that you will find her to be professional and communicative in every way.

Pam really helped us understand the UPK program. The school has separate rooms for multiple age groups. Ours was in Bloomers. Ms. Ciara, Ms. Karina, and all of the other teachers really help the Pre-K group get ready for kindergarten. They have centers, movement, circle time (reading), show-and-tell, and outside time pretty much every day. They have very clean classrooms. Each of the students receives enough but not too much attention in order to encourage socialization, problem solving, and independence. The one area that some may find lacking is the playground. CLP doesn't have a huge, elaborate play structure like some preschools. While this may deter some, I think it has some benefits because a) your kids are not really going to remember the playground so much as their friends and b) they'll be much more creative in how they play with their friends. Finally, the check-in and message system they use is great. Check-in Is easily completed by scanning a QR code and you can assign others for pickup. The teachers post class and/or individual updates almost every day so that you can see a little bit of what they're learning and doing. They're also very responsive to messages that parents send through the app.

At the time I was only looking for part time, so I declined, as their prices are outlandish for only a couple hours one day per week. I then needed full time, so I reached out to them. I was pleasantly surprised that the facility was exactly as advertised in the photos (after having met with at least one other care giver that was nothing like what they had advertised). The facility is minimalistic, and therefore very neat and clean. I met with Joann and Renee and they seemed great. I quickly paid the registration as I needed to get started with child care right away in order to start a new job, and I had been looking for over a month for an opening. My daughter was in their "care" for less than 2 days (about a half day both days) when they told me she couldn't come back because she was crying too much, and that it was beyond their expertise. With all of the years experience and education they claimed, I was extremely surprised and taken aback by this. She was a 7 month old baby meeting these strangers and they didn't expect her to cry?!!? This was after I paid them $460, for less than two days! (They did at least refund the registration fee.) This left me scrambling to find child care right before the Thanksgiving holiday, in order to start my job after the holiday. They also made me worry that there was something wrong with my child. They basically said it wasn't normal for her to cry. Luckily, I found an amazing care giver, and had absolutely none of the crying issues that these women claimed. The problem was clearly with them and not my child. Based on what I saw, I think that they have too many children in their care in order to properly care for an infant. I feel like I dodged a bullet that my daughter by not having my daughter in their "care". I think she would have been neglected and would have picked up the nasty attitude of the business owners, and I am glad that I found care elsewhere. They claim to be Montessori philosophy, but I think the real reason they are minimalistic is that they need to move everything out to switch over to eyelashes in the evening (the facility address was also registered as an eyelash salon). Further, when I asked for the EIN so I could file my taxes, they did not send it to me. I waited for over a week to receive something and did not. When I asked again they gave me a terrible attitude and claimed they already sent it. They had not. I think they were hoping I would just let it go. Either that, or again, they're probably "caring" for too many children than they can handle and probably either got it mixed up with someone else or thought they sent it and never did. I finally received it and am glad that I will never have to contact them for anything ever again. They are not fit to care for infants. If your baby cries, like all babies do, take them somewhere else.
