There were blood spots on the sheets because my dad had a toenail removed that week and my son cut his leg tripping over the fire pit in the dark. Instead of handling this professionally, she came at me furious and accusatory. We spent good money and planned to return, but after that call we won't be back.

The details are too long an involved to go into, but suffice it to say in a three night stay, the evening meals two of the three nights were 2 hour almost comical mis-adventures. After the last meal, capped off by the smell of a rotten cleaning rag left on the table behind us (reeking of rotten fish) my wife and I just lost it laughing at the complete absurdity of the whole situation. Oh, and by the way, the food ain't cheap. After the first night, I would have eaten outside the lodge, but that is impractical as the closest restaurants are in Winthrop which is mostly closed in the evening and a pretty tough drive down slick roads and back. To be fair, the new years eve celebratory meal (at $105 PP) was pretty good and not chaotic. (I am told the lodge owners were dining there that evening which may have affected the service) The lodge itself is nice, although our room, a fireplace room in the Gardner lodge was pretty worn and dated. We stayed in room 6, it had a queen bed, kitchenette, a back deck and there was even a screen on the door so we could leave it open and enjoy the river that runs behind the motel. There is also a park right across the street that is beautiful. Just be aware there is no cell service in Conconully and the wifi in our room was spotty, but we were the farthest room from the office where the router is located. There is also no microwave in the room, however there is a stove/oven etc. to make up for it. We would definitely stay here again.

A private washer and dryer tucked in a closet near the kitchenette. Pretty cool. Nice granite counter tops and stainless steel full size fridge. Full set of silver wear; including set of cooking knifes. Dish set and wine glasses all in their proper places throughout the kitchen cabinets. Again, didn't expect any of that and it came very handy. Great sofa set with love set. 2 Toshiba LCDs - one in bedroom and the other in the living room. Great private balcony with wicker furniture set - a table and 4 chairs with great view of the lake. In summary, Will be back!

Update as of 5/26/2015: According to this resort's Facebook Page, they have closed. The…read moregovernment has apparently declined to renew their lease. This resort is on prime real estate and the owners seem to know it. No major renovations (or repairs) in 10+ years. The camp spots are on a high bank, right on the lake shaded by very nice willows. The views are spectacular with the moon and stars reflecting magically off the lake. However, the spots are nothing but dusty dirt patches while the other two resorts on the lower reservoir somehow found a way to set up an irrigation system and have them nice and grassy. The resort startles a state park boat launch with cabins, store, office, showers and docks on the far side from the RV spots. It's a good 200 yard hike to all the amenities. If your trailer doesn't have a toilet and shower, make sure to bring a bicycle. The hookups seemed to work fine, water, sewer and electricity. They have convenient fish cleaning stations. The final hassle was .25 cents for a six minutes shower. $30 a night is on the inexpensive side but you would still expect a shower included. Boats are a reasonable $50 a day, beat up but serviceable. Come for the views and fantastic fishing but don't expect much else!

With that said there's no TV or microwave in your room. I didn't ask or look if there was a microwave in the common area but there was a large tv and lots of movies to watch in there. Lots of outdoor seating on the porch and a communal fire at 8 each night. Very nice! I'd love to go back there again. Also very quiet and not busy of 4th of July weekend so if you have pets afraid of fireworks this would be a good place to stay . Beautiful sunsets, as they face west. The golf course is very fun with great scenery. I chose to give the inn a 3-star review mainly because the food for staying there is sub-par, and that's putting it kindly. You are paying a lot of money to stay the weekend and play golf and your food options are basically just pub fare for your 3 meals a day. There's hardly any breakfast options outside of a burrito or a breakfast sandwich. At minimum, I wish there was some sort of continental breakfast available for the guests staying at the inn up at Danny Boy. Or maybe incorporate the large Hispanic culture in Brewster and have upscale Mexican food or something for Lunch & Dinner. The food just needs to be better for what you're paying to stay out there. I hope to visit again and see some changes.
