First time really camping and chose this place based on location and reviews for a few days in the cape. Perfect location for getting around the cape. Tent sites were very clean and fairly spacious, tho ours was a tad hard to back into especially with other guests in their sites with their cars parked. The bathroom and showers were very clean - solid water pressure and the water got really hot. They werent too far from our site either. The camp store seemed to have really anything you needed during camping. The water spicket at the tent site was nice to have for cleaning and putting the fire out, as well as the picnic table. They said there was a 1mi trail that leads to the beach - well we found a trail right close by that is 1mi BUT this trail does not lead to the beach, not sure where that trail is. But Breakwater Beach nearby is a must do, especially at low tide. Overall I'd come back to this site, my first real camping trip was a success read more

POLICY IS POLICY", even when it is detrimental to their business. So unfortunate. I run an event that tries to support local businesses. We reserved and paid for 5 campsites one weekend, and referred a number of our vendor to this location as well. Despite that, the campground would not hold reservations for the following weekend without full payment in advance. We asked them to hold it for three days and were told "policy is policy". Also, apparently one of our campers taking their child to the comfort station in the rain, so they drove over. Apparently they had barely parked for a moment before somebody in a staff shirt came out berating them for parking there. At 2:00 a.m. Ridiculous. But again, apparently, "policy is policy", logic and business sense be damned. Terrible way to treat a business looking to grow a relationship and not only paid for a number of sites, but directed campers there as well. EDIT: Astonishingly hostile, shrill, and unprofessional phone call received at 11:30am on 6/12. Owner/manager (?) called about "nasty" reviews and "slander" (note: nothing above is "slanderous"...just because someone doesn't like what you have to say about them, doesn't make it untrue). Generally just confirmed my initial impression surrounding the lack of professionalism exhibited by this establishment. If they are willing to call someone up and, instead of try to address and rectify any misunderstanding are INSTEAD looking for a fight...clearly these folks are just a hot mess. Stopped in the Cape Cod area for a few days to visit the sights and scenes. We chose Shady Knoll based upon a Good Sam review. When we arrived, the staff was ready for us and gave us our welcome packet and explained how to get to our site. We drove to our site and it was amazingly spacious. We are here for five days, but the first three are with no sewer hookups. Not to worry, because three times weekly, the management pumps tanks out at no extra charge. We backed into our space which was shaded for nearly all of the day. It was level and very private, surrounded by a privet of wild grape vines. Adjacent to our site was a nature trail that went into an area that used to be a cranberry bog. On the third day we relocated to a site with sewer and again, it was quite spacious and very easy to back into. The entire park is clean and inviting. There are two bathroom/shower/laundry rooms. All the floors have been covered with a slip resistant epoxy that makes them look amazing. The showers and toilets, washers and dryers are immaculate and tended to throughout the day. All of the staff was courteous and helpful. The park is centrally located to many sights along the Cape. It is however, a bit difficult to drive into because one must cross a busy road to drive into the entrance. Pulling a trailer with that extra length sometimes is dicey. Very comfortable accommodations. The office/general store has just about anything you might need to make your stay more comfortable. I would definitely return in a heartbeat. read more

Really enjoyed this campground! They were kind and respectful and each spot has its own privacy. Something cool you'll notice upon arriving is the sweet smell. There are grape vines everywhere! I saw one lady eating some! Would definitely recommend! read more

If you are looking for organized activities, a pool and game room this is not the campground for you. Shady Knoll is a small park with campsites of all shapes and sizes - some easier to get into than others. However, every site is very private with trees and shrubbery separating one site from the next. The sites are spacious and not right on top of each other, which I loved. There are Concord grape vines everywhere and the smell is amazing. Bathrooms are clean and WiFi works pretty well. My phone was at full signal. Be careful driving thru the campground, as the roads are a little narrow. I had no trouble with my 23 ft TT but a bigger RV might be a tight squeeze. Also, the dump station is in a spot that you would drive thru on your way into the campground, not on the way out. I left the campground, turned around and pulled back in to dump my tanks. But overall, I loved the peace and quiet and privacy that Shady Knoll provides. I can't wait to go back. read more

I really wanted to love this place. I really did. However, we booked a site for a 36 foot motorhome, with 50 amp service. When we arrived, we were given a small, cramped site, situated next to the sewer dump station, with other campers cramped in and a fence between our sites. After getting set up, I realized that the cable television was barely useable. Very snowy. Also, we tried running both of our roof AC units, but could not due to the 30 amp service. I went to the office to complain. I was sent to see "Larry", who apparently does the maintenance here. When I explained that a 36 foot motorhome has multiple rooms, and it's 95 degrees outside, and needed the AC, he looked at me with a deer in the headlights look, and stated, "Why would anyone need two air conditioners?" I immediately knew that I wasn't getting any help from ANYONE at this campground. Just shut up, and give us your money. Well, I've had just about enough of the inflated prices and piss poor service at Cape Cod. I just walked outside to reset the campground breakers, which keep tripping because I'm running ONE air conditioner, and a hot water heater. Your one star review is two stars, only because the young lady in the camp store was super pleasant when we purchased firewood. I sincerely hope that the owners will see this review, and make an honest attempt to improve this place. It has the potential to be so much better. Update: "Larry" came to berate me for speeding through the campground. Telling a story about old ladies dodging my car, and children scrambling for their lives. We are camped by the main entrance, and Larry seems full of crap. Your two stars are now one star. I'll avoid the place in the future. read more

This was a great campsite my family and I stayed at. This is a "family campsite." Quiet time at 10pm, and fires must be out by 11pm. A golf cart with an employee comes around a little after 10 to check that all is quiet. The small store at the entrance had great people working there. Staff seemed overall friendly. Small ice cream treats and little knick knacks. Wood is at $5 a bundle and 2/$9. We used the rainbow fire sticks which were pretty cool. They also conveniently had ice as well. A small game room was next to that, not very impressive. The fireplaces were...okay.... not the greatest, but it was still nice. Bathrooms were well cleaned every day. Showers were great! It is still pretty far from the beach, driving would be best. But the experience was overall very nice. I would go back to this place. Dislikes: Quiet time being an hour earlier than putting out fires. Not close enough to the beach for my liking. Fireplaces were sub par. read more

Great campground conveniently located between Hyannis and Provincetown. Sites were clean, and the showers were private with good water pressure/hot water. It was mentioned in other reviews that this is definitely a "family" campground. Tons of yelling kids playing and riding their bikes around. While I understand and appreciate the campground having a "quiet time" at 10pm, the guy patrolling the campground on his golf cart and shining his high beams into your eyes every ten minutes was a bit jarring. Besides that, my boyfriend and I had a really nice time and were very happy with our experience. Side note: since this is a "family campground", aka not very rugged, we noticed that a lot of the other campers weren't well versed in camping basics such as locking all food/trash in the car at night. As a result, we were visited by both a gray fox and skunk in the middle of the night. Lock up your trash, people!!! read more

We had the pleasure of staying at Shady Knolls the week after Labor Day and wish we had more than a week to stay. It was hard to leave. Starting with our phone for reservations, the woman on the phone was just a pleasure to talk with and went above and beyond to answer all our questions. When we arrived we were greeted with the same kindness. Loved our campsite, wooded, private and clean, not one cigarette butt or bottle cap anywhere. The bathrooms, showers and laundry area where immaculate, I've never been to a campground this clean before. After getting settled in, I went for a walk around the campground and came home with tomatoes from one of the caretakers along with some good recommendations for local restaurants. I can't say anything bad about this place, in fact, we can't wait to return for next year. read more

We loved staying here - it's a beautiful location and there are lots of trees and bushes (many honeysuckle which smell nice) to give privacy between the sites. There are spaces here for large RVs and trailers as well as lots of tent sites. All the staff was very friendly and helpful. The office includes a small store. There are two laundry areas as well as bathrooms and showers. We were there over the Memorial Day weekend and the place filled up with families and children - there's a nice playground for the kids and we could tell they all had a great time! This campground is about mid-way on the 'arm' of the cape right on road 6-A, so it has good access to Provincetown (at the extreme end) and the other towns along the cape as well as back to the larger towns at the entrance to the cape. We stayed in one of the water/electric/cable sites with our trailer that didn't have a sewer connection, and planned to stop at the dump station when we left. But...the access to the dump station is problematic when you're leaving the campground...it's positioned to be accessible when driving in, which was weird. We asked how other people did it and were told we could just pull into any open site with a sewer connection and dump there. Made it real easy! Overall, this is a beautiful campground close to the little town of Brewster and close enough to the rest of the cape. Definitely a place to visit when visiting Cape Cod! read more

What can I say..... this is the first and last time we will ever come here. The first night 2 sites next to ours played very loud music, a party atmosphere with a miss mash of combined music. 2 complaints to mgt & music was eventually turned down. 2nd night very loud neighbors, cackling laughing & the whole campsite could hear their entire conversations....I recorded the experience & sent it to the mgt. We awoke on the 2nd morning to construction work at 7am, a NEW FIRE STATION being built right next to the campsite!!!! We were NEVER told about this at the time of booking, nor at time of confirmation, if we had we would've never booked. We are trying to find alternative accommodation now, who wants to be awoken to loud construction at 7am each morning? We have asked for a refund, which we have been told will not happen, have asked for a discount, have been told won't be given. What a nightmare start to our vacation! By far the worst camping experience our lives! Warning do not bring your family here! We decided to stay at "shady" knoll because they promoted themselves as a family campground. However our experience was far from it. On arrival the grounds were dingy and unimpressive even for campground standards. The female manager and owner in the office were extremely rude and condescending. They even accused us of trying to sneak in a pet that we did not have and the accused another couple of trying to steal a bundle of wood which they had already paid for. The road leading back to the sides is extremely tight and has two hairpin turns that take extreme driving skills to make it by without damage. The trees lining the road have plenty of scars to show that not all make it by unscathed. We had many uncomfortable interactions with a Spanish employee that always smelled of alcohol and gave all the females in are group the creeps. All of this was nothing compared to the night we witnessed a male employee physically Assault a female guest for not extinguishing her fire when told read more

Reasonable mid-cape campground. The sites are small and difficult. We camped in a 36 foot travel trailer on site 14 and it was not easy getting it in. Just driving through the place a larger rig can loose awnings and other fixtures. No pool, just basic camping. read more

First off though the experience wasn't super the lady at the front desk was wonderful. The campsites were not exactly what I expected. This was my first time beach camping and I suppose I'm used to more trees and privacy. The sites were split up in some areas by only a chest high hedge. The bathrooms were very clean but the staff cleaning them was pretty rude and not helpful to find another. Rules seemed really strict... for us. We are younger and seemed to get far more attention despite never being there other than for sleeping than the giant family next to us screaming at all hours. Just a weird place overall.
