Really enjoyed this campground! They were kind and respectful and each spot has its own privacy. Something cool you'll notice upon arriving is the sweet smell. There are grape vines everywhere! I saw one lady eating some! Would definitely recommend!

If you are looking for organized activities, a pool and game room this is not the campground for you. Shady Knoll is a small park with campsites of all shapes and sizes - some easier to get into than others. However, every site is very private with trees and shrubbery separating one site from the next. The sites are spacious and not right on top of each other, which I loved. There are Concord grape vines everywhere and the smell is amazing. Bathrooms are clean and WiFi works pretty well. My phone was at full signal. Be careful driving thru the campground, as the roads are a little narrow. I had no trouble with my 23 ft TT but a bigger RV might be a tight squeeze. Also, the dump station is in a spot that you would drive thru on your way into the campground, not on the way out. I left the campground, turned around and pulled back in to dump my tanks. But overall, I loved the peace and quiet and privacy that Shady Knoll provides. I can't wait to go back.

    Small, cramped sites.

I really wanted to love this place. I really did. However, we booked a site for a 36 foot motorhome, with 50 amp service. When we arrived, we were given a small, cramped site, situated next to the sewer dump station, with other campers cramped in and a fence between our sites. After getting set up, I realized that the cable television was barely useable. Very snowy. Also, we tried running both of our roof AC units, but could not due to the 30 amp service. I went to the office to complain. I was sent to see "Larry", who apparently does the maintenance here. When I explained that a 36 foot motorhome has multiple rooms, and it's 95 degrees outside, and needed the AC, he looked at me with a deer in the headlights look, and stated, "Why would anyone need two air conditioners?" I immediately knew that I wasn't getting any help from ANYONE at this campground. Just shut up, and give us your money. Well, I've had just about enough of the inflated prices and piss poor service at Cape Cod. I just walked outside to reset the campground breakers, which keep tripping because I'm running ONE air conditioner, and a hot water heater. Your one star review is two stars, only because the young lady in the camp store was super pleasant when we purchased firewood. I sincerely hope that the owners will see this review, and make an honest attempt to improve this place. It has the potential to be so much better. Update: "Larry" came to berate me for speeding through the campground. Telling a story about old ladies dodging my car, and children scrambling for their lives. We are camped by the main entrance, and Larry seems full of crap. Your two stars are now one star. I'll avoid the place in the future.

The facts don't support a healthy environment anymore. Counsellor turnover is huge, attendance is…read morefalling and the lazy Director's need to reset their moral compass. For $10,000, you should be getting a much higher professional level of skill and education from the administration -- not a crew of half-literate, mendacious, ex-jocks. They are in desperate need of new blood as they've all been there way too long. This used to be a great camp and probably will be again in a few years when the current administration leaves due to their age and complete lack of caring. While the facilities are solid and good, they've recently had a very difficult time attracting quality, multi-summer counsellors. It's partly the pay and partly the insular directors who are aging, feckless and look out for their own over the well-being of the campers. Never a good sign and why a lot of kind, well-liked and caring counsellors have left. They are so young and clueless it's amazing. My kid put in for sailing 6 straight weeks and never got on a boat despite the counsellor saying he'd make sure it happened. No organization or leadership skills at all. The current (2015) crop of counsellors is primarily new. Lots left over the year-- many who had been there decades. Of course, it's the best ones who leave and the "screamers" or knuckleheads who stay. Their inexperience shows as the sense of kind camaraderie has been replaced by cliques. None are experienced to know what to do so the classic "mean girl" and "cool guy" cliques run rampant over the other perfectly decent kids. This would normally be noticed by directors, but they are all so old, could care less, and are oblivious to what's happening around them. That happens when you're running a camp and are 75 years old. The directors are just dialing it in and living off the old reputation for the 7 week paycheck. It's sad to see what was a great camp go downhill as these older directors turn a complete blind eye to much of the nasty behavior that you see and hear around you. It's especially a problem with the teenage level groups. Invidious jealousy, spoiled brats (many who are related to administrators) and threatening behavior don't make it fun for many campers now. The problem starts with the completely useless directors who run it and pay lip service to their well-meaning, pablum-filled beliefs that they state over and over again. It's a real shame it's fallen on such hard times. Wait for the current leaders to leave before you think about sending your kid here and look at counsellor longevity. But definitely make sure the old Directors are out of the picture and hope the new ones reinstall, a fair and caring environment based in integrity and respect. All traits that have faded with the current geriatric Directors.

A solid 3.5 stars…read more The good: -Beautiful views of the water -The lounge area by the pool was so relaxing and comfortable! Sincerely the best of any resort we've stayed at -Genuinely friendly staff -The cleaning crew was phenomenal and didn't miss a spot The not-so-good: -Paper thin walls. We were woken up multiple nights because the upstairs guests were walking around. Yes, plain footsteps - not even stomping - were very audible. For close to 1k a night, this shouldnt have happened. My cheap grad school duplex apartment didn't even have walls this thin! -Friction prevented us from giving the resort more money. There's room service but no menu in the room and it wasn't easily found online either. And we were so ready to drop a good amount of money on poolside drinks and food but nobody waited on us both times we were at the pool. (They did happen to wait on the social media star who was present, which was very obvious, and we made eye contact with another family who shrugged because they hadn't been waited on either.) And finally the coffee shop closed at noon. We would have happily patronized the shop for a treat and a coffee and were disappointed to find it closed so early. -Our perception was that there was nothing going on at the Wequassett. We stayed in June (and received the May newsletter; perhaps that would've given us more info if we had the correct one?) We had expected the poolside bar to be open. Maybe some live music. Smores for the kids by the fire (we would've purchased this.) So many opportunities for improvement! We stayed at the cliff house in Maine last year and there was a number displayed around the resort that you could text and they'd send a message with info about was going on at the hotel that week! Such a memorable touch - Wequasset could consider something like this. All in all, not awful, but not blow-your-socks-off fantastic, either. Just plain average in the realm of resorts.
