Really enjoyed this campground! They were kind and respectful and each spot has its own privacy. Something cool you'll notice upon arriving is the sweet smell. There are grape vines everywhere! I saw one lady eating some! Would definitely recommend!

If you are looking for organized activities, a pool and game room this is not the campground for you. Shady Knoll is a small park with campsites of all shapes and sizes - some easier to get into than others. However, every site is very private with trees and shrubbery separating one site from the next. The sites are spacious and not right on top of each other, which I loved. There are Concord grape vines everywhere and the smell is amazing. Bathrooms are clean and WiFi works pretty well. My phone was at full signal. Be careful driving thru the campground, as the roads are a little narrow. I had no trouble with my 23 ft TT but a bigger RV might be a tight squeeze. Also, the dump station is in a spot that you would drive thru on your way into the campground, not on the way out. I left the campground, turned around and pulled back in to dump my tanks. But overall, I loved the peace and quiet and privacy that Shady Knoll provides. I can't wait to go back.

    Small, cramped sites.

I really wanted to love this place. I really did. However, we booked a site for a 36 foot motorhome, with 50 amp service. When we arrived, we were given a small, cramped site, situated next to the sewer dump station, with other campers cramped in and a fence between our sites. After getting set up, I realized that the cable television was barely useable. Very snowy. Also, we tried running both of our roof AC units, but could not due to the 30 amp service. I went to the office to complain. I was sent to see "Larry", who apparently does the maintenance here. When I explained that a 36 foot motorhome has multiple rooms, and it's 95 degrees outside, and needed the AC, he looked at me with a deer in the headlights look, and stated, "Why would anyone need two air conditioners?" I immediately knew that I wasn't getting any help from ANYONE at this campground. Just shut up, and give us your money. Well, I've had just about enough of the inflated prices and piss poor service at Cape Cod. I just walked outside to reset the campground breakers, which keep tripping because I'm running ONE air conditioner, and a hot water heater. Your one star review is two stars, only because the young lady in the camp store was super pleasant when we purchased firewood. I sincerely hope that the owners will see this review, and make an honest attempt to improve this place. It has the potential to be so much better. Update: "Larry" came to berate me for speeding through the campground. Telling a story about old ladies dodging my car, and children scrambling for their lives. We are camped by the main entrance, and Larry seems full of crap. Your two stars are now one star. I'll avoid the place in the future.

For $10,000, you should be getting a much higher professional level of skill and education from the administration -- not a crew of half-literate, mendacious, ex-jocks. They are in desperate need of new blood as they've all been there way too long. This used to be a great camp and probably will be again in a few years when the current administration leaves due to their age and complete lack of caring. While the facilities are solid and good, they've recently had a very difficult time attracting quality, multi-summer counsellors. It's partly the pay and partly the insular directors who are aging, feckless and look out for their own over the well-being of the campers. Never a good sign and why a lot of kind, well-liked and caring counsellors have left. They are so young and clueless it's amazing. My kid put in for sailing 6 straight weeks and never got on a boat despite the counsellor saying he'd make sure it happened. No organization or leadership skills at all. The current (2015) crop of counsellors is primarily new. Lots left over the year-- many who had been there decades. Of course, it's the best ones who leave and the "screamers" or knuckleheads who stay. Their inexperience shows as the sense of kind camaraderie has been replaced by cliques. None are experienced to know what to do so the classic "mean girl" and "cool guy" cliques run rampant over the other perfectly decent kids. This would normally be noticed by directors, but they are all so old, could care less, and are oblivious to what's happening around them. That happens when you're running a camp and are 75 years old. The directors are just dialing it in and living off the old reputation for the 7 week paycheck. It's sad to see what was a great camp go downhill as these older directors turn a complete blind eye to much of the nasty behavior that you see and hear around you. It's especially a problem with the teenage level groups. Invidious jealousy, spoiled brats (many who are related to administrators) and threatening behavior don't make it fun for many campers now. The problem starts with the completely useless directors who run it and pay lip service to their well-meaning, pablum-filled beliefs that they state over and over again. It's a real shame it's fallen on such hard times. Wait for the current leaders to leave before you think about sending your kid here and look at counsellor longevity. But definitely make sure the old Directors are out of the picture and hope the new ones reinstall, a fair and caring environment based in integrity and respect. All traits that have faded with the current geriatric Directors.

Wequassett has been for many years among the best properties I go to in the US (or internationally…read morefor that matter). Every single time we visited, the service has been impeccable and I find it hard to think about any other resort that can get even close to Wequassett. The grounds are perfectly kept and the rooms have been recently renovated. And although, there's a trend even with classic high-end resorts (St. Regis, J.W., Ritz-Carlton) to make their renovations a little too modern for my taste, Wequassett successfully kept their old school charm. We always stay at their Signature Water View King rooms (and book well in advance as there's only a few of these) so I can't speak of other room types. The amenities are flawless and even though the main pool gets VERY crowded during summer weekends, the pool attendant always found 2 chairs for us. My only recommendation for this property is to have a backup plan for the main pool. Perhaps installing a deck and adding some more chairs there to accommodate more guests that prefer the beach vs. the pool.

In Sweet Pea, the house Cleaning people were a little bit weird but they did keep things immaculate in the space. And Mother Goose there seem to be never ending problems with the house so we often had somebody fixing the air conditioner. Somebody fixing the upstairs toilet and somebody fixing whatever else was not working around the place. It didn't feel great to have maintenance people around as you're getting your hair and makeup done for a wedding. Did not feel chill bridal time at all. They speak very highly of their food, but they didn't have anything off of their menu that really impressed me. I tried the fresh cod, scallops, apple dessert, and Wagyu steak. Brandon and Angel are a total headache to deal with. We requested to have the gym open early for the day of my cousins wedding. Angel said yes to having the gym opened at 4:45am in the morning before the wedding. I was there waiting -Didn't happen. This pushed back my whole schedule on the wedding day. We asked to pay for the Mother Goose house as a wedding gift to the bride and groom - also didn't happen. I had to discuss the issue with Brandon. No discount no offers of any kind- mind you 3 nights is about 10K. Not cool at all. The wedding planner also seemed to have no idea what was going on with decisions, when speeches were going to be and where to set up the podium for the efficient. The main staff you speak with don't really seem to care and frankly just aren't the type of service you look for in a luxury resort . I'm an extensive traveler and would strongly recommend not to revisit this place. We also got coffee at Sill and couldn't find any place to sit down to drink our coffee and have a pastry. We even asked the host where we could sit and it was outside on wet chairs or in the lobby. The dining room was totally empty and asked if we could sit there and was denied. Also there isn't enough parking for guests. The working driving around on golf carts talking on their cell phones also felt a little scary. The Wequassett staff made a bad atmosphere for the guests paying a lot of money. It felt very unfair between the gym not being open on time to the disorganization of the wedding timeline to getting the bills confused.
