Laser tag fun! A great experience for my daughter's party they're accommodating, flexible and most importantly the kids had a blast.

It was suppose to rain all day on Sunday so I wanted to find an indoor activity that got the kids some exercise. So I took my 7 year daughter and a friend to Shadowland in Gaithersburg on Sunday to celebrate the end of the school year. We have been here before but it is usually a birthday party. This was free time. They were a little nervous so I sat in when the staff was explaining what to do so they felt comfortable. They had a great time. The staff really took the time and answered all the questions the kids had and made them feel important. They played 3 games each and were really tired but glad they played. Great way to spend a rainy day. Your review helps others learn about great local businesses. It's not inecpensive, but I think the price is reasonable for all that you get. Took my kids to Shadowland for the first time over the weekend and they loved it. The staff was friendly and helpful. The experience was amazing the kids also enjoyed the arcade games. My kids played 3 different laser tag games and each one was different. They want to have their birthday party there. They offer a nice package for birthday parties. We also had popcorn which was hot and fresh. I had a smaller child and staff was so nice and helped him with his gear and made him feel comfortable. He really enjoyed it. For my daughter's recent birthday party, Shadowland did us several good turns. First, we reserved two rooms b/c we were expecting a lot of kids. But then far fewer were able to come. Mike the manager let us go down to just one room, saving us hundreds of dollars, despite the fact that we were already within the week window when changes cant be made to reservations. Then we showed up at 945am Saturday for my kid's birthday party, 16 kids in tow, cake, cupcakes, all ready to go. When I discover that I had made the party reservation for 945pm rather than am. I of course was about to sink into the floor and die as world's worst parent. But again, Mike helped me out. He said we couldnt have a room, as they were booked, but we could set up in the cafe area and the children could play laser tag (and it would be cheaper than the party.) The kids had a great time. Mike even gave us a free refill on the drinks. What could have been an epic fail on my part turned out to be a very good morning thanks to the staff at Shadowland, and really, they are more important than any equipment or games there. I hosted one of our swim team socials here, and we played two games for the price of $6.25 each time. The first game went well, but when we went back into play the second game, the packs were not lighting up, everyone had the wrong "gamer-tag", and many kids did not even have a team to play on. I went outside to tell the staff of our issues, and ten minutes later, they attempted to re-start the game, which resulted in even worse conditions. I voiced my opinion and made it very clear that I wanted a refund because the game did not happen, and no-one got any true playing time. The staff "solved" the problem by adding five minutes to the game, even though, I had told them that the parents were here and waiting, and that a refund would solve the problem. After the game, when the staff was calling out scores, and passing out the results, they were calling the wrong "gamer tags" because that was they had down because they messed up our game, and given random names from the game before us, to our game. They were yelling and getting aggravated at my swimmers, when they were not at fault, because they did not know the random names that they had gotten, instead of their chosen "tags". Overall, the service was horrible, the kids (thank god!) said they had fun because they got to hangout, outside the pool, but they had really hoped for their money back, or a free game, or soda even. I even called the next morning, and spoke to a manager who said that since we were in the arena, we do not qualify for a refund, which if you ask me is B.S., because everything went wrong for us. I never intend on suggesting or recommending this place ever again. The customer service sucked, I felt as if I was being mistreated, and that the service needed a change in attitude. A couple other notes, they do not have ANY storage, so when you have 34 teens jackets in the dead of winter, a parent or someone must stay outside with the coats during the game. Also, in an attempt to pass time between games, the team was taking a group picture on some stairs for the yearbook, when a staff member EXTREMELY impatiently yelled at my swimmers to move. To make matters worse, posing 34 kids takes time, and I had the camera ready and everyone set, when she made us move, it was disappointing and rude, for a supposedly "fun" place. Also, we had our game on a Sunday night, and there were five cops there, which did not give a good vibe off. The area is not too bad, but I did not expect to see five policemen there late on a Sunday night, just shows the kind of people who hang around there I guess. My 11 year-old son and I went to visit the Shadowland laser tag location on Quince Orchard Road in Gaithersburg, Maryland, on November 7th, 2015. We arrived at the facility around 11:10 AM on a Saturday morning. There were 2 birthday parties going on during our time at the location. We participated in the Triple-Adventure package, which was reasonably priced at around $22 per person. During our 2 and a half hour stay at the location, we enjoyed 3 different laser tag games. Overall, our laser tag experience was a good one. The team of employees worked together to create to provide us with an atmosphere facilitating a "fun and enjoyable experience." The most memorable experience involved the laser tag missions and the directions and guidance provided by the laser tag team members. They were helpful in guiding customers to start their missions with the gear and during the missions. The facility interior was appropriately clean and well maintained. Employees were professional in providing instructions on how to use the laser tag equipment, and how to conduct the laser tag missions. There was a minimal wait time between missions @ 15 minutes between the end of one mission and the beginning of the next mission. Restroom facilities were appropriately clean. My son and his friends enjoyed the variety of games in the arcade area. I would heartily recommend a visit to this location in Gaithersburg. The value of entertainment for the cost associated with the visit was well worth it for our visit. read more

We just hosted our 8-year old's birthday at Shadowland and it was a rousing success. The gaming was top notch. The staff, however, were even better. Michael the manager went out of his way to make sure everyone had a great time and worked patiently with me when my voucher did not immediately show on CertifiKID. Touchingly, when the birthday boy had to leave the last round with a bloody nose, Michael immediately gave him two vouchers to come back and "finish the job". What a great guy and what a great time! We will definitely be back for his brother's birthday coming up in five months. Thanks Michael and thanks Shadowland...great job! read more

Very fun it's been years maybe 11 years ago when I went laser tagging . Me and my friend came here I said wow I feel like a kid again .. I'm 23 years old now . The coworkers who work there we're really cool . Some guy complimented me on my chain . The coworker told us it was just us 2 right now no one else . I said is it more fun when it's more people ? He said yes . I told him oh okay we probably come back in a few go have some drinks and stuff. He smiled and said "that's wassup" he probably wanted to drink knowing he's going to be at work all night . Anyways great fun place and nice workout too read more

Nice place for kids to go out for laser tag. The facility might be somewhat outdated and the laser tag is not the newest of systems, but what this place does have going for it is it's general proximity to the DC suburbs, making it one of the only places worth going. In regards to the facility itself, it doesn't have any of the digital features of newer laser tag arenas but that doesn't stop it from being lots of fun. read more

Place is fairly well-run. I liked that i got to pick my own nickname and the variety of games. I also liked always having the same guns station each time. But, the senior Marshall who was our trainer was a jerk. He kept shooting at everyone, gave terrible instructions, and was over all a jerk. I wanted to walk out. I was very surprised to read the review written in regards to the Shadowland in Gaithersburg. I have taken my grandchildren to the Gaithersburg and Frederick location on several occasions just to play with other walk in players and for parties. I must say I have never had a bad experience or encountered any problems with fly's or other creepy creatures. I would like for anyone reading this review to know that my grandchildren and I have had nothing but great times at both Shadowland's and the service was impressive and friendly each and every time. My grandchildren love Shadowland and want to go there every time they come to visit. The owners and upper management of Shadowland should be extremely proud in the way their managers and staff take care of their location. I was there trying to enjoy my time playing laser tag with my children, when this manager, Gene, started screaming at this nice employee who was very helpful. She was helping everyone and doing her absolute best, when Gene screamed at her and made for an unpleasant experience, but Gene wasn't done yet he then yelled at my children for no reason. I'm extremely upset by this experience, and would not recommend going there until Gene is fired. read more

STAY AWAY........ I will never, ever go back here. I took my son and his friends to ShadowLand for his Birthday. However, his gun did not work during his game and only worked for the last few minutes. I told the manager on duty, Micheal, and he said "Well it happens some times. the important thing is that he had a good time". When I told him that in fact he did not have a good time when the gun does not work, he just shrugged, and said he could not do anything about it. And when I told him, I will post bad reviews, he offered a piggy bank to make up for the fact that we wasted $60. read more

Went to Shadowland with a group of co-workers today. It was my first experience doing laser tag, and I would go back again in a heartbeat. I LOVED it. The only reason for my three star review is Crystal. Crystal is an employee of Shadowland and tasked with giving us laser tag instructions. Crystal was unprofessional and rude. When anyone asked a question she had an attitude that everyone in our group noticed. It was to the point that we requested another employee finish giving us instructions and one of my co-workers complained to the manager. The new employee, however, was awesome and did a good job explaining the laser tag experience. I would go back again, but watch out for Crystal. read more

So I'm chaperoning a 8th grade grad trip to DC from CHICAGO. Monuments will only last 2days before 14year olds lose their minds. Laser tag-2hrs brought sanity back to the group! A little pricey as compared to CHI but it got the job done for a group of 36!!! WOW read more

Horrible customer service. Just turned away a group of teenagers (10+) after making them wait 2.5 hrs and giving them wrong information the fact of which the cashier denies now. Yes, the manager apologized which unfortunately doesn't change much about the fact that those kids had to find rides to get there and back, had to walk around the area for over 2 hrs (not much to go and see around there) and had their celebration totally ruined. LOVE YHIS PLACE! My friend invited me to this package she bought where we played five games back to back. The first two games I was completely lost because I didn't listen to the guys explaining the directions (HINT listen to those guys) so I didn't know how to work anything. By the 3rd game I was totally into it and absolutely loved playing it !!! Somehow I seemed to fall upon the perfect hiding place, and everything was just great. I recommend them to have a restaurant or just some good food in shadowland cuz you get really hungry after running around shooting people :))). Plus it gets really hot so where short sleeves (even if it is -1000 degrees outside). Bring a water bottle, and don't bring any novelties or expensive stuff, cuz you can't put your stuff in a locker or anything, and you don't wanna carry it cuz that's just extra baggage weighing you down. Make sure someone u trust is near ur stuff, or u just don't bring anything expensive. Make sure to wear running shoes too. Don't wear heels, or else u gon die!!! Don't wear makeup either. U start to sweat a lot. Wear black clothes, cuz u don't wanna be seen by other ppl( cuz you're against them) . Wearing neon clothing isn't gonna help u!!! Birthday parties here are the best BTW, OH TOTALLY FORGOT, during breaks there's a Dunkin donuts right next door to this place, so hop on over there and get cho self coffee to reenergize! Come to think of it, after drinking the coffee I felt so much more energized...maybe they mix something in their drinks to create winners ;))) read more

Absolutely amazing would probably be my best description. It was one of the most enjoyable experiences I have had with my family since my son became a teenager. Laser tag is one of those fun and clean activities that a family can enjoy together. Personally I had an absolute blast, despite the fact that my teenage son is a much better shot than I am. The laser tag games varied in goals and rewards, but they were all spectacular fun. The staff was unbelievable. They worked diligently to ensure that each and every customer had the most enjoyable experience possible. They made sure that all of the participants understood and followed the safety requirements. All of the equipment worked flawlessly and this added to the fun factor tremendously; there is nothing worse than being stuck in a game with equipment that does not work. The water and other drinks for sale as well as the water cooler made it easier to cool off. Overall, it was a fantastic way to spend an evening. read more
