I have an old 1976 Argosy travel trailer that looked to me like it needed new axles. I contacted Shadow Trailers and talked with Fritz. Fritz worked with me to figure out what I would need and gave a very reasonable price. I scheduled to drop off the trailer and when I got there Fritz came out and inspected the current axles on the trailer. After looking it over, Fritz said I didn't need new axles and that I should just keep running on the old ones. I think not many shops would do this. Wouldn't accept anything for his time spent.. Here's my almost 17,000$ shadow 3 ski trailer 2 years in. These people won't even make anything right I tried reaching out through email and Jeannie won't return my emails from last year. 9/17/19 Today I took my trailer to Shadow Trailers to have a jack replaced and to get a second opinion on other things that may need to be updated. I was met by Fritz and he was very patient, informative and helpful. I told Fritz that im fixing this trailer so I can sell my boat and he said he would do the best to keep my cost down where possible. Absolutely disgusting customer service. Called the office after the staff took it upon themselves to put there hands on my car, leave obscene notes and park a lift against the rear of my car. I was parked on the side walk along with 20+ other cars, and no signage stating not to park on this sidewalk. Shadow Trailers replaced all the wheels and tires on my boat trailer. Two days later I was taking the boat to Big Bear Lake. On the way up the mountain one of the wheels came off the trailer and left me stranded on the side of the road. While on the side of the road I checked all the other lug nuts on the trailer and found that they where all loose. When I took the trailer back to Shadow Trailers to replace the damaged wheel (180 mile round trip) the owner Fritz gave me a hard time and was a total and complete JERK!!! I spoke with Fritz two days before going back for the repair. He checked the paperwork from the original work order when the wheels and tires where installed. He told me to bring the trailer back and he would replace the damaged wheel. When I brought the trailer in for the repair Fritz told me that the original work they performed was out of warranty. I explained the situation to him two days earlier on the phone before bringing the trailer back to his shop to avoid that situation. The conversation at his shop between Fritz and I became heated but Fritz finally decided to replace the wheel. I spent $1486.00 for the work on my trailer, spent a $130.00 on fuel bring the trailer back and wasted another day because of their poor workmanship. Luckily no one was killed or injured from the tire coming off and spinning out of control into oncoming traffic. read more

I recently had a very bad interaction with Shadow Trailers. I attempted to purchase a set of new trailer wheels from Shadow's online store. Shadow offers "free shipping" for all orders over $99. Shipping from their Southern California location to my San Francisco Bay Area home was quoted at 2 days. 8 Days after placing the order, I called to see where my shipment was. After speaking with the representative on the phone I was informed that my order had not been shipped due to the wheels being out of stock. While I fully understand that high demand products can easily slip out of stock, Shadow's lack of a simple phone call left me without wheels needed for a trailer due to be in service this first thing next week. (12 days after my original order including 2 day shipping) **The GREAT part.** Frustrated by the ordeal I asked the representative "What can we do to make this situation better?" The representative on the telephone "Said they can't do anything, shipping the wheels overnight would cost near $200." ...again frustrated and venting, I repeated myself "So there is nothing that we can do to make this better...?" The conversation escalated on both ends with me punctuating with "so I just got screwed (in more colorful language). I was then told "the purchase will be refunded." and was hung-up on. An opportunity to provide above-and-beyond customer service quickly escalated to a spat between two immature adults. Shipping the wheels overnight and ensuring my weekend trailering plans would have made me a life-long customer and advocate of their service. While I'm sure this isn't entirely typical of Shadow's normal customer service, I will not be their customer and will encourage any and all of my trailer hauling friends to take their business elsewhere. read more

Could not find the parts I needed down in San Diego, So a little net searching I found this place to have the parts I needed in stock. So kept fingers crossed the online tool was correct on the inventory and got there shortly after opening. Took a few minutes to be noticed and asked for help with everyone walking around so it was a little awkward being looked at and saying goodmorning and everyone just walking by. The lady that was hidden by a "now helping number" sign peaked around and asked if I have been helped..My nope prompted her to find the "guy" to help me. After about 10 minutes of showing him the old parts he disSapeared into the shop and got the parts. So besides the awkward waiting, it was worth the 4 hr round trip to get the trailer back together! I was shopping for hardware for a fifth wheel hitch and called Shadow Trailers. Or I think it was Shadow Trailers that answered the phone. I had to ask to make sure as the gentleman (lacking much in the way of telephone skills) was obviously distracted. At the moment he decided to pay attention to my request for information on fifth wheel hardware, he had no idea what I was asking for. So instead of asking any questions for a further understanding what I was shopping for, he hung up while I was still talking. Nicely done Shadow Trailers. Very basic telephone courtesy can go a long way when many choices exist for your potential customers. This very brief interaction was a perfect example of how not to do business. read more

This place should get no stars. I went to curt's website (trailer hitch manufacturer) and this place came up as a retail location. I called and the lady that answered the phone said, "Did you look at our website?" This was her reply when I asked her if they carried curt trailer hitches. Then she said, "I'm not sure what we carry." I put this in quotes because I am quoting her exact words. After two lengthy waits on hold, I hung up. This place should hire someone to answer phones that knows at least the bare minimum. Why does this lady exist as a "Shadow Trailers Employee," if she know nothing. And to top it off, she was rude. If you want crap service from a lady who knows nothing, you are in luck, Shadow Trailers will come to the rescue. This is why retail has no place in today's internet society, if you can't provide customer service, you have no place in business. I can order online, never talk to anyone and receive my product. I might not be able to drive and pick it up when I want, but I think it is worth saving the frustration. read more

Should be less than one star. You cannot count on Fritz's word. I was going to store a boat and trailer on his storage lot and gave 30 day notice with current storage facility to terminate on 2/28. On 2/26 my boat partner was getting a receiver extension kit, spec'd by Fritz: and pay first months rent. After several hours, Fritz gave up on the install, told the customer he could not do it, had lost money and said...."I don't want your big boat and trailer in my yard and the deal is off" So if you want to wait 14 days for a quote when he said 7, get steel fenders instead of galvanized as quoted, be told he forgot to charge me for 3 tires and owe more, spare tire was not mounted and come back, wait over an hour to pay for bracket and get gate/trailer out and then break a commitment on contracted space ..... He is your guy..... Spent over $2k on repairs, could not complete a quoted $1300 job, broke agreement on $1320/yr rental, wasted my time and will lose out on the additional $3k in needed repairs and he is the only competent person there.....good luck! read more

Came in to service my trailer for our upcoming river trip. Spoke with Fritz who I've been trusting the service of my boat and Toy box trailers with for about 15 years. As usual, I got great immediate service and was sold only the parts and maintenance I needed. I thought I was in for some hub/ brake replacements but I left with a repack and one new $10 buddy bearing that went bad. Thanks for the free goodies I discovered later. The new license plate bracket and brake release hooked on the front. Very handy. Cleaned up my rims that were all splattered with grease too. Checked all our lights. This review is long overdue. I bought my first custom trailer from Fritz at Shadow Trailers in 2000. When I bought another boat in 2004 I bought a second custom trailer. I also purchased a used PWC trailer from Shadow. Each transaction was exactly as discussed with Fritz. No surprises. The trailers were the highest quality and everywhere I went people asked "where did you get that." Shadow Trailers. It had been a while since I went to Shadow but I needed a few maintenance things done so I called up Fritz and he got me right in. The work was completed on time for a great price. Shadow Trailers and Fritz have been nothing but courteous and straight up with me from day one. If I could give them 10 stars I would. I have been a customer for 17 years and will continue to be as long as I own a boat or PWC or need any kind of trailer You can call around but in the end you would be crazy to go any place else. please!! do yourself big favor! do not purchase a trailer from these people! all you will get is lies, lies, lies and more lies! the trailer we purchesed has a door opening that was cut crooked in the side of the trailer during manufacturing. the door hangs crooked and is becoming an issue. they are avoiding this issue by pushing it off on another person in their staff! i think between my husband and i we have spoke to everyone in the office now. we travel all across the usa and the trailer gets a lot of attention. especialy since we have done a lot of upfittings on it. we absolutly will not reveal to anyone the brand name of this camper since they are such an unreputable company! we do not wish them on anybody! read more

This review is based on the experience that I had and may be different than what others may experience: I spoke to Fritz about getting my tandem axle trailer completely renovated. He mentioned that it would be around 4500-5500 total when complete but would look brand new. I had to think about this as this is a little out of my original budget. With that being said, I called back in a few hours excited about the fact that although I had to shell approx. 5000k, I would have a brand new (or at least a newly renovated trailer). I was on hold. 5 minutes later, still on hold. 10 minutes later, still on hold. I thought no harm done as I was working on my computer while I was waiting. OVER 15 minutes and still on hold. Needless to say, I hung up. I brought my trailer elsewhere for complete sandblasting, powder- coating and repairs for 50% less than what Shadow would charge. Their quality is impeccable, The friendly service and appreciation of their customers is made clearly known. They run a well oiled machine and are extremely professional. They produce some of the most beautiful custom work I have ever seen. If you're looking for someone to piece together you're falling apart trailer, this is not the place to go as their level of work is high-quality. How do you click NO STARS. Fritz is the worst business owner you can deal with. I posted a bad rating on this web site and he calls me in December asking why I did that. I had to remind him of everything that went wrong with my trailer that he remodeled and repainted. He then argued that it was my misunderstanding about him not sandblasting a white trailer before having it painted black. I then reminded him of all the other mistakes AND how the license plate was next to invisible from his remodel and I could get a ticket. 1/16/2015 I got a ticket on the way to Havasu. Its Fritz's gift that keeps giving, Anyway, he said he would call me back a few days later from our December phone call to see if he can make it better. Well you guessed it, HE NEVER CALLED BACK. One 1/7/2015 I sent him an email to remind him. I immediately get back an automated response, "Happy New Year! We will do our best to make you happy. Shadow trailers is behind you all the way. I am happy to help with your special needs. Have a super week." Well here it is 1/20/2015 and no response from, you guess it, FRITZ. read more

I bought a trailer tire for a spare from their trailer-wheels.com website and they one that they sent out is a dried out nasty 4 year old tire. Be careful if you buy anything from these guys you may be throwing money in the trash!!! Don't be a fool like me and think you are getting a better deal. You can go to discount or America's and get the same tires for a few bucks more and get something that is a couple of months old or less. read more
