I spent a lot of time researching companies to install a patio cover, and I thought I made a good/smart decision going with this company. The sales rep Jen was very helpful and responsive. If this was based on her service alone it would be a perfect score. I was told that a permit would be pulled, and once received work could be scheduled to begin. I paid the deposit on 4/16. I called on 4/30 to get an update and was informed by Tony that the permit was received and that work would be scheduled for 14 days from then. On May 15th, I still hadn't seen them or heard anything, so I messaged Jen to see what was going on. Tony reached out later that afternoon and told me they would be out on 5/18 at approximately 2:00pm to dig the footers. Once completed, they would have the city inspect the footers so concrete could begin being laid. Today (5/18) I received a call at 11:15am informing me that the crew chief of the team assigned to do the work for me was "not feeling well" and they would be late digging the footers. It would be tomorrow morning possibly. A 3-hour notice to cancel/reschedule isn't ideal, especially as I had to juggle my schedule to ensure I'd be there for their arrival. At this point I am questioning when or if this will get done at all. I have had to keep putting off my concrete people until these footers are dug and inspected. They are starting to become frustrated with the delays and schedule changes as well. We're starting to feel a bit of buyer's remorse at this point and wondering if we made the right decision to move forward with this company. When the work is finished, I will come back and update this review either positively or negatively based on the experience going forward. read more

I was looking into a new patio and really didn't want to spend $10k I loved my neighbor's patio and she told me she used Shade Works and loved them. I called, and from start to finish, their communication was spot on. Once the permit was granted (about 4 weeks) we scheduled inspection, and next day the install. They had it up the first day and could have finished but they needed to come back with supplies for the insulation (not necessary but we purchased). Came back the next day and finished in 2 hours. We couldn't love it more and it was just over $7k. Everyone from office staff, sales person, installers, and f/u after project was complete was very friendly and professional. Looked at several cheaper companies and found their quality to be a bit lacking, trying to make sure we were getting a snow load that would cover any snow-maggedon - lol. We also kicked around doing a smaller cover to save a bit of cash. Ultimately we chose to go with Shadeworks for the quality, local construction, and service. We also decided to do a full length cover. We are very happy with both decisions. The cover looks amazing and has really transformed the look and feel of our home. We needed a Patio shade next to our pool. I had researched Patio shade cover options and found that the less expensive options (less than $3,000) came with too many negative reviews, including the very popular DIY one from Costco. The better reviewed companies that were building what I wanted were pricing at $6,000 or higher. Shade Works is local (I live in Meridian, ID) and after coming out to my house and taking measurements for what I wanted done, they custom manufactured the shade at their facility in Boise, then installed it. After fabricating my unit (it was ready a few weeks after ordering it) installation took 3 normal work days to complete. Most other options were not as convenient and many required that I build the unit after they dropped off the parts. (Ummm, no) Many claimed that they "built it in just one weekend with my spouse!" No thanks, I would rather still be married after the unit is installed. Shade Works got it done and it turned out great. We have only had it for a couple of months and no problems at all. Family, friends, neighbors are very complimentary on how it looks. My only frustration with the entire project was that I needed an extra post section panel to cosmetically cover up some electric and water piping that I had stubbed in for lights and a water mister on the unit (not Shade Works fault, the landscaping company I had hired for other yard projects stubbed in those pipes too far from the shade post) so, I needed to have Shade Works cut an extra post panel to accomplish that. They did but it took about 3 weeks, primarily I think because return phone call promises were not kept, delayed, or not forwarded to the correct person. It is early summer and all outdoor project contractors are very busy, so delays happen. But timely communications with customers is paramount. This was not a deal breaker for me to not use them again or not recommend them. They do good work, we are very happy with our patio shade. Just need to communicate with their customers in a more timely manner and all is well! read more

Shadeworks installed automatic shades in 2023. I noticed the other day one of the poles holding up the shades is bent quite a bit. It was very strange as the weather couldn't be a factor as it has t been windy, not enough rain or snow either. Nothing else on the patio has been disturbed. The gates were all closed and there are no marks on the pole like it was hit. I called the company and sent them pictures. They told me it was $100 for a new pile and $99 for installation. It's been less than 2 years since install. There's no warranty with the paperwork. This is very poor customer service. It's poor workmanship with this skinny hollow metal pole. I'm sure that's why it's bent. Maybe it's going to collapse. read more

We had shadeworks install a cover over our patio. The cover is apporx. 58' x 18'. there is a field splice in the gutter. The gutter leaked at this splice and the installer removed the gutter and reinstalled it two times. I requested an extended warranty which they refused. The gutter sometimes leaks at the splice. I called and they said they would have someone come by and look at it. No one ever came by. The gutter is a very poor disign, it clogs and in almost impossable to clean. When it rains or snow melts water spills over the edge of the gutter and a part runs to the drain at each end. read more
