Pork
Jeff D.

This is relaxing dinner spot that does decadent small plates and has the old time charm of yesteryear. I had the sweet brined pork and it hit on many different levels. Tender meat, crispy potatoes and presented properly. Our waitress was extremely friendly and professional. There were six of us and we each had 2 beverages, an app, entree and then shared the three desserts for a total of 344.00

Crab and corn fritters
Grace G.

Great food. We ordered the crab and corn fritters, Caesar salad, lobster linguine, and the day boat scallops (special). Staff and service was timely and pleasant. Drinks and wine were great as well. The bar seating was nice but loud. Next time I would sit outside in the screened in porch but it was still comfortable and friendly inside.

Sorry. Only 1/2 of the breakfast. Couldn't resist and stop eating.

Great breakfast. Huge sausages with good flavor. Highly recommend. Sorry, took pic when was 1/2 way done. Staff was very friendly and attentive.

We arrived in Maine on Saturday and made reservations at the Chart Room for Sunday, Unfortunately,…read morethe only time available was 8:45 pm. We were fine with that as it was the birthday of a member of our group. The problem with that was we really felt rushed from the moment we walked in the door. I'm sure staff was ready to go home for the night but if reservations are that late, they should be prepared to allow people to eat without feeling rushed. As annoying as that can be, my BIG problem follows: we were thrilled to be able to bring our little dog and to see they had a dog menu. We ordered the chicken from the dog menu for her. I was hand feeding her pieces (thankfully didn't just let her eat it on her own, as she probably would have eaten all of it!). When she had eaten almost half of it, I tasted a little piece and was super surprised to taste the spices added. I would have thought that it would be pretty bland. We asked the waitress what was added and she accommodated us by bringing the can of spices the cooks had used. It included salt, onion and garlic... all things that can be toxic to dogs. I spent the next few days worried about whether our little girl would have a reaction which really put a damper on our vacation. The waitress tried to make things right but shame on the cooks!! If you're going to have a dog menu, you should know what's safe to feed them.

Came in 30 minutes to close, restaurants close early here on Mondays and in off season. Make sure…read moreyou check the hours for the restaurants close by. We were originally going to go to another restaurant, Bell Buoy or something or other and they were closed. Their loss! Came to Joseph's By the Sea and the staff were welcoming and hospitable. Sat upstairs outside and had the best dinner ever. Very happy with the bread basket for $4. Tasty and nice to nibble on with a delicious plain butter as well as an olive butter. Then ordered the large portion Caesar salad. Lovely, my boyfriend and I shared it. Ordered the lobster for market price. They were out of the 1 1/4 pound one, but had the 1 3/4 pound one which was a little more expensive, but worth it. It was fresh and quite far for the price at a restaurant. Boyfriend had the "Best of Both Worlds" (not pictured) he eats too fast! 4 ounce filet mignon and 4 ounces of lobster meat. Served with same sides that I had with the lobster dish. Also a chimichurri sauce. It really doesn't need it. Ask for it on the side if you're iffy about it. A great dessert menu, but we were full. I actually asked for more bread and the olive butter to go! Very clean restaurant. Another nice touch is the hand washing station near the bathroom. Thank you, JBTS. Our regards from Washington, DC.

I ordered extra cream sauce. There was a decent amount of seafood too. Chef Dakota makes me want to hop in the car and take that two hour drive JUST for that pasta. It was THAT good! And listen, even the Caesar Salad was top tier. They did not come to play. My Hubby had the Fish & Chips and absolutely loved his meal too. The food was excellent, but the experience was just as good. Service was amazing, the bathrooms were clean, and the inside was CHIC, intimate and romantic. It was the perfect atmosphere for our restaurant date night. Joseph's has that elevated coastal feel without feeling stuffy, and you can tell they take the whole dining experience seriously. They've been serving Old Orchard Beach for decades and have a strong focus on fresh, locally sourced seafood. DO NOT have the disappointment of showing up without a table. MAKE A RESERVATION! Would I drive two hours again for that pasta? ABSOLUTELY.

When we finally did, it was almost 90 minutes before our food came. We got an appetizer but were never offered extra plates or a "how's it going" or refills until the food arrived. The waitress left as fast as she could. The drink order was messed up, and we were MINUTES AWAY from putting $20 on the table and leaving. When the food did arrive, part of the order was missing because "it went to someone else." WTF? Also, as an insult to injury, the menu has items listed as gluten free. We have a symptomatic celiac with us and when we mention one person needed to be gluten free the waitress kinda said "uh ok" which wasn't confidence inspiring. And clearly there is cross contact because our family member doesn't feel good after ordering simple nachos (marked GF). Look, restaurants are hard, I know. But maybe this place used to be good? Why was it so packed? The food that we did end up getting was mediocre, like it all came from US Foods or Sysco. Other than the lobster presumably. But everything was your basic "throw it in a fryer" type stuff you get anywhere else. I haven't left a zero percent tip in 20 years, but tonight, they earned it.

Cute inside, order at the counter-style place. The food was...interesting…read more I ordered the Salmon pear avocado toast. I was skeptical about salmon & pear, and it did have its own "salty-sweet" thing going on that sort offf worked a little.....? But, not enough. It was weird. There wasn't enough salmon on the toast, or enough toast frankly. The toast was a thin slice and did not seem to be high-quality sourdough. The home fries were good, although they looked re-heated. My dad got the omelette that had plantains in it, and they were very sweet which caught him off guard. I think they were trying to be unique, and they were, just not in good ways.

We came here for breakfast specifically and my favorite item ended up not being a standard breakfast food. LOL We were greeted when we walked in and were told we could choose our seats. There were a lot of options on a Sunday at 9am suprisingly in July. They give you menus and then you order at the counter and they give you a table flag number for the server to know where to deliver your food. I ordered a La Croix sparkling beverage, the All American breakfast and a side of chicharrones (crunchy pork belly bites). My friend ordered French Toast and churros. I loved my food a lot. Everything was perfectly cooked. The toast was fine...nothin special. The star of the show for me...Chicharrones!!! Wow, they were spectacular and it was a great serving so I could bring some home to my husband. They are very very rich, so a little goes a long way. i was hoping to have a side of rice with it, unfortunately they do not sell the rice separately. Only comes in the burritto. Bummer The French toast was interesting. It was not "sweet" and the little dish of "cream" or topping wasn't overly sweet either. The churros - FANTASTIC! definitely loved those. The prices are super reasonable. Staff checked in on us a few times. Super nice. I will definitely return, even if it's just for the chicharrones. Plenty of parking nearby
