In September I hired Shack Shine to clean the exterior of my home. The company rescheduled my appointment on very short notice moving it a day earlier than originally planned and because I was at work with windows open on one side of the house, the technician said he would return the next day to finish. When I came home, the siding, windows, and soffit were still dirty. Several windows had visible spots, a slug streak, and bird droppings. I marked the problem windows with sticky notes, but even after three visits they were never cleaned. I managed to clean the slug streaked window myself. The siding also remained unfinished, and an outside window sill at the front of my home was partially broken from the pressure washing, which I had to repair at my own expense. We arranged another visit for a Saturday, but the technician never showed and I received no call. After raising my concerns again, I was told the owner (Martin) would contact me. He eventually came, (November) an hour late, agreed the work was incomplete, and said the house needed to be redone. Since then--I have heard nothing back despite reaching out, including to ask whether soffit cleaning should be postponed due to winter temperatures. It's now December since the initial service, and I have repeatedly had to chase this company with little regard for my time or the quality of work. Based on this experience, neither I nor my family and friends will be using or recommending Shack Shine again. I will also be taking my holiday lighting business elsewhere. Photos, including the damaged window sill are attached as well as coming home to find the water tap left on. The company has received all these photos and are aware of my concerns and choose to do nothing. Overall, I don't feel a homeowner should have to repeatedly check the work to ensure it's cleaned properly. A customer should be able to trust that the job will be completed correctly the first time or make it right if it wasn't. read more

I was walking by one of there job sites and there is a kid on top of a 25' very steep roof with a pressure washer. HE WASN'T WEARING A HARNESS! I used to work in job site safety, so I stop and ask him where his harness is? He points over his shoulder like it's up on the roof. I say it doesn't do much good if you're not wearing it! He tells me to F off, mind my own business and calls me a "Nancy"! So I call the business and don't get the expected response, then I called WorkSafe BC. His harness was in the truck and his ground guy brought it up to him. Maybe one day he'll realise I may have saved his life. I'm not holding my breath. read more

I hired Shack Shine at the recommendation of a painter who stated he worked with them all the time and they did great work. I have lost a lot of confidence in this painter and am glad I did not hire his company. Prior to the completion of the job, I spoke explicitly with the owner Martin as well as his foreman Mackenzie. We went over the job in detail, which entailed a full exterior clean of my house and detached garage including gutters and windows, all concrete patio and walkways, and a wood fence and deck. I just had artificial turf installed which butted to the deck, fence and patio surfaces. My turf installer had cautioned me to ensure the company doing the cleaning covered the turf and did not bring the pressure washer nozzle anywhere near the surface of the turf. I spoke with Martin explicitly about this and even offered to provide a tarp. He assured me they had a tarp and would cover the turf and not get a nozzle anywhere near the turf. I had this same conversation with Mackenzie the morning of the job prior to them starting and was assured it would be done. Unfortunately, I was at work and did not observe the work done. The entire crew stayed late to complete the job as I had a painter starting the next business day. This was greatly appreciated. Unfortunately, when I observed the work the following morning, I saw debris on my turf, the edges of the turf lifted up and gutters that did not appear cleaned at all. I contacted Mackenzie who committed to coming out and addressing all concerns the following business day. This again was greatly appreciated. Upon the arrival of my painter, he expressed concern with the work done on the house and garage. He pointed out soffit and house surfaces that had not been cleaned that were still full of cobwebs and dirt. Mackenzie was on site and committed to addressing everything. He worked hard the remainder of that day as well as the next to fix the things that had not been done properly. Unfortunately, he was not able to do much with the turf. Shack Shine did pay to have my turf installer come back and fix things the best they could. The turf installer did state there was a lot of debris in my turf they could not get out. They had to spike down the edges of my turf in areas again and power brush it. They were able to get it close to the way it looked when it was installed. Unfortunately, there is still some noticeable lift around the edges. I do appreciate the effort made to rectify a job that was not well done to begin with. I am still at a loss as to how a company can make a commitment to a customer and not follow through on it. I intentionally did not go with the cheapest quote. I wanted quality over price. Unfortunately, I do not feel I got it here. What if I did not have a painter coming by? Would I have even been aware the job I paid for was not completed properly. I strongly caution you to be present and supervise the work done if you hire this company. read more

I hired Shack Shine to wash my windows. One of the workers, Kaeden, made sure that the job was done to my satisfaction. He was amazing. He checked each window carefully, was very personable and respected Covid restrictions. I was very impressed with Kaeden's work ethic. read more

We were having our house painted and had them come to wash all of the wood. They did a good job on all they could reach from the ground. The problem is, we have a very tall house and they don't use ladders or lifts. The undersides of all of the upper eaves were not done properly Otherwise, they were very clean and polite. read more

This is the best thing you could do for your house. I was trying to clean the lower gutter and it took me several days. I called Shack Shine got a quote from Google view and they scheduled me for the same week. Literally everything is done one morning. The price they asked and the work they done is worth way more then the money you paid. And they do really come in that professional looking outfit and truck right at your door.
