I…read morefinally discovered that Heritage Mountain specializes in York products and gave them a call. Jessie arrived on time, masked up and ready to go. He first listened to what I had to tell him about the problem and read the reports from the other techs that I provided. He then looked at all components of the system and zeroed in on a couple of obvious (to him) problems. Jessie worked diligently and was not afraid to share information with me as he was performing his job. After a short time he was able to get the heat pump running as it should. He then checked to make sure ALL components of the heating system were functioning together as they should. We were facing the very real prospect of replacing this heat pump, as we had dealt with a problem that no one else could repair, at a cost of thousands of dollars. Thanks to Heritage Mountain and Jessie for rectifying the problem, saving us the cost of replacing the heat pump and saving us from further frustration. I would DEFINITELY RECOMMEND Heritage Mountain Heating!!

We chose Brad because he was very honest, approachable, and well informed. We felt he gave us good advice, and worked to save us money and get us the best equipment for our needs. We also found his quote was very competitive, which was fantastic because of the four companies I had quote, I like interacting with Brad the best. The installation went smoothly. Brad and the guys he brought in to help with the install were all reasonable to have working in our home. Brad seemed to do everything by the book and to the best possible quality. For example, an electrical box was installed where the electrician had popped out one extra access port than he needed. Brad commented that this would meet code and most people would accept it; however, he did not like it and so he came back the next day to replace the box. All the work seemed top quality. The only challenge with working with Brad was that he was somewhat hard to nail down on an installation time. He was always easy to get a-hold of via his cell phone, but once or twice failed to send me information via email that he said he would. The system has now been running for year and we are very happy with it and would choose to work with Brad again and would recommend him to our friends.

In early Dec. 2025 I made a requested an estimate and servicing to BCVAC for air duct cleaning,…read moreservice of tankless hot water system, furnace and fireplace. Service was made next day however, to my surprise, it was a contracted provider (Midland Mechanical) who spent a total of 95 minutes (8:45 am - 10:20 am) completing all the work. Air duct cleaning was questionable. Most registers were not removed; no brush was used to loosen dirt in the vents and only a tiny nozzle was used to remove/suction external dust. I had questioned BCVAC regarding the use of a portable vacuum and was confident that large suction tubing was not required for a home however, in my research, it is clear that the air duct service was less than adequate. Most of MM's time was spent with the fireplace for my non-functioning remote. An initial quote of $348 by BCVAC turned out to be a cost of $867.55 to MM. MM insisted that the charge for tankless water heater was extra (later confirmed as an oversight and rectified by BCVAC). MM replaced fireplace remote (charging an added $393 including labor) and I had to provide the batteries as he didn't have any!! I disputed the charge for labor and cost of the remote but he was insistent. I later discovered that he had replaced the fireplace remote with a broken one. This, I believe, was intentional, as he demonstrated to me that he taped in the batteries telling me it was to prevent them from slipping out of place. There was no packaging indicating the remote was new. 2 days later, the first time I used it, the remote didn't work. Upon investigation we discovered that the battery latch locks were broken. I immediately cancelled the cheque, notified BCVAC and called to have the remote (batteries included!) removed by MM. I believe that BCVAC should have assumed the role of notifying MM however, it became clear at this point, that BCVAC functions only as a mediary and assumes no responsibility for the sub-contracted work. MM was angry that I hadn't given him an opportunity to replace the remote but it was clear that he intentionally charged me for broken equipment. I wanted nothing more to do with MM. Curiously, following his visit to disconnect and remove the remote, the fireplace pilot wouldn't maintain a flame. I then contacted Heritage Mountain H & C (a very reliable company) who spent nearly 1.5 hrs. at a cost of $396.38 to install a remote that I had purchased online. He determined that the safety circuit had been removed and wiring to the thermal couple port was not connected. (How did this happen??) He also cleaned the burner area, fixed the log placement and also issued a detailed invoice. In my opinion, had the fireplace been properly serviced by MM, the burner area would not need to be cleaned nor would the logs be out of place. Jesse from BCVAC was very cordial, honoured the quote for tankless water heater and issued a $50 gift certificate for future use but this experience will not encourage me to use BCVAC again.

In related news, I later found out that asking adding a surcharge for debit transactions is actually illegal per U.S. Federal law. Good to know. They can charge up to 3% for credit cards. Nevertheless, the good folks are the office were very nice about reversing the double-charge. I am waiting to see when it comes through. Pro's - Basic work seemed to be done well and at a price that was competitive with others I contacted at least for the basic service. - Communication was prompt. - After some re-scheduling on their part, the team did the work swiftly and efficiently. - Most of the terms were clear in advance, using Yelp Projects. Con's - This is a fairly shiesty corner of the home maintenance world. Many providers seem to give you a low-ball estimate to get in the door and then upsell significantly. - Envirosmart is not an exception. - The initial quote was $200. This included scoping the ducts and doing the negative pressure clean-out. - Onsite, they then upsold me to $670 for a more thorough brushing of the vents, sanitation, and some other ancillary services. - They were only modestly well-organized. They called the day-of to reschedule because of a conflict with internal training. They also confirmed a different time than I had originally scheduled. It was the difference of a 9 to 11am original window and a 2:30-3pm arrival. - The Yelp Project communication could have been clearer. They did not specify whether they were calling to quote me or coming to do the service! Amid all this and with some clarification and flexibility on our part, we worked it out. I would have appreciated either a discount or additional service for the delay. None was proffered. I did not go ahead with the upsell as I had already gotten quotes for less from other providers with somewhat more transparent pricing. I think the work they did appeared fine. See attached pics. Your guess is as good as mine which are before and which are after! They did not specify when they sent them to me and email took off the timestamp. I'm hoping the cleaner ones. I probably will try another service when I do this again and with a higher rated provider. All in all, though, I had low expectations and those low expectations were met.

To Rhonda, consider yourself lucky they didn't show up. If they had, you might have been caught in the same dishonest tricks. I request service to fix the fireplace pilot mode not stay on issue. This guy came and replaced two parts but failed to resolve the problem. It became clear that the original parts were still functional. Despite this, we were charged 500 more, with the replacement parts priced significantly above market value. We paid these charges in good faith. When I informed him that we needed time to consider whether to proceed with the purchase of another part (quoted at an additional $600), He agreed to put everything back. But he engaged in unethical behavior, including: - Intentionally cutting the wire connected to the high-temperature heat sensor before reassembling the unit. - Tampering with other wire connections, making it impossible for another technician to repair the issue. Fortunately, I had taken photos of the fireplace system before his arrival, which helped me verify and document his actions. I do not believe this was the first time he has employed such deceptive tactics; it's simply a matter of him not being caught until now. Intentionally damaging or sabotaging equipment to make repairs more difficult or costly, and then using that situation to demand a higher price, is unethical. It is a form of manipulation or fraud. It violates trust and professional standards.

When they could not resolve the dispute, they had the bin contents dumped into my driveway. They promised to be there within 90 minutes to start the cleanup, but in reality they didn't show up for 7 days. When asked why they took so long, Alex's response was "I'm not a dog. I don't come when I'm called." They didn't clean up the entire mess left by the dumping of the bin, so I am now having to pick up roofing nails from my driveway and lawn. Alex would rarely respond to text or phone calls. Alex "hired" my son to help on the job, but then never paid him. His employees wore no safety gear when on my roof, which creates a massive liability issue. Sure his quote was a bit lower than a far more reputable company, but for the terrible service and treatment I received, they were epically overpriced. My previous roof had been done by my ex-wife's drug addict friend, and the overall job quality was better than what I received from Alex and his team. I cannot recommend enough that you find someone else.
