My son just graduated out of speech and we are over the moon. As I'm writing this, I'm reflecting on the mind blowing progress my son has made in just 3 years with the incredible help of Mrs. Teresa. When we first started here, my son was speech delayed and no one understood the few words he did say. Mrs. Teresa was able to target his problem areas and gave my son the tools he needed to communicate clearly and effectively. Mrs. Teresa is kind, gentle, patient, stern when needed, and truly invested in my son's growth and progress. They worked hard together during sessions, and she always rewarded my son with play time at the end which he appreciated. She always pushed and challenged him -- every session the improvement was undeniable. My son is a better speaker, a more confident communicator, and is able to focus and apply himself so much more now. I have a daughter at a different clinic who has now seen several different therapists, and I truly don't think with them all combined they could do what Mrs. Teresa does. She is an expert in the field and my son and I were truly blessed to work with her! Shout out to Miss Rosa who runs a tight ship! She truly keeps everything running smoothly, handles everything from scheduling to billing to whatever else falls on her lap, and she always does it with a welcoming and warm smile. She's the first and last face we see -- the face of the company. It's bitter sweet to say goodbye. I have no words to describe how grateful we are to SGV Speech and Ms. Alex. Our daughter has been receiving services for a little over a year and we've seen tremendous growth in her speech(we can actually communicate) Prior to SGV our little girl was receiving services at Mi Sueño which were awful! The staff insisted on my daughter and the pathologist wearing a face mask. And after a holiday they insisted her therapy session to be on zoom (as a precaution). Needless to say, our daughter's speech regressed. After months of fighting with our health insurance and lots of tears, we found SGV and Ms Alex. In the beginning our daughter would only repeat words (echolalia) which at times was frustrating. I never knew how she felt or if her needs were being met. But now our little girl can articulate her thoughts, tell us if she's hungry, if something is funny or if she needs to potty, all the things most ppl take for granted. Ms. Alex is patient and kind! She is easy to work with and communicate. Our daughter loves Ms. Alex and gets very excited to see her! We love her too!!! She takes her time to explain to us what they are working on so we can try to implement it at home. Rosa the office manger is very sweet! She always greets us with a smile! As a parent, we all want the best for our children. And this place offers the best speech and occupational therapy services. On top of that, they are accommodating and helpful. I can't recommend this place enough. At the start, I read and compared reviews on yelp. I rely solely on recommendations, reviews on yelp, or word of mouth...this location was one of the best in the area. I'm glad I found the right place and therapist for my son. My son has been receiving a weekly 45 min speech therapy session with Ms. Kate for 2 years now. She is a gem--sweet, caring, knowledgeable, and patient. My son is shy, but he feels comfortable with Ms. Kate. My son has progressively improved, but still needs to be speaking at his age-level. At the end of each session, Kate discusses his progress and gives solutions for at-home goals. And every 6 months, he is evaluated and they usually give him a new goal. I understand he needs more classes or sessions to improve his speech. In due time, he will "master [the art of] speech" and complete his therapy. They accept Kaiser. My insurance policy covers most. Life happens, so when we can't make it, we either reschedule or book a zoom meeting. If you don't give an advance noticed (at least 12hrs beforehand ) they charge $25. First time, they let me slide. Ms. Alex is absolutely phenomenal. She is so encouraging and is incredibly patient. She is always so bright and cheerful and brings such a warm and welcoming environment. After almost a year of speech, I have seen an incredible improvement with my 4 year old. Miss Alex has so much patience with him and an understanding of his needs and his interests. She takes his favorite things and incorporates them with speech and play. She can match his energy and get him to calm down just as easy. He went from one to two words to full phrases and sentences. Miss Alex recognizes the areas he struggles in and always has great suggestions on what we can do at home to help him improve. When there is something I'm not understanding, she does great clarifying. Despite moving further from the area, we chose to stay here because of the quality of care received. Rosa the office manager is great at reminding me when the clinic is open and closed for holidays and works diligently to get a session rescheduled if needed. She is the first face you see when you walk in and she knows all the children's names and acknowledges them as they come in and go home. We started attending SGV speech back in late Dec/early January we were assigned to our original specialist Ms. Julie temporarily due to her maternity leave but she was amazing and super kind! We were then assigned Ms. April, she was extremely accommodating with our schedule. She took the time to understand Oliver's likes and needs. I value when a place of business respects their potential customers time. I called last week and was told to send in my insurance information and stats, which I did. Then when I hadn't heard back, I called on Friday to make sure I had sent the requested information to the correct email. They confirmed and said I should hear back Friday/Monday. Today was a bittersweet day because my daughter was discharged! We have been working with Ms. Rebecca for about 10 months and have been so blessed to have her as our speech therapist!
