So I get a $350 home Inspection, done at SGA's convenience, because they cannot accommodate my schedule, they're too busy, etc. -- but on the day of the appointment they callously reschedule for an hour later, no reason given. Very selfish outfit. Then they do the Inspection, not telling me anything more than I already know about the house ... then, they cannot get all the way into the attic, waa waa ... and finally promise an e-report. Then they send me an email with a link and passwords to enter "on the lower right side of our web site, look below" - they claimed. No such window to log in! So I filed a complaint with them, and I have a formal complaint ready to be filed on Monday with the Attorney Generals office in Olympia, for consumer rights violations. I'll update the outcome as soon as they resolve this. Update : now I'm told I'm holding my phone wrong and that I should hold it sideways. I did that. Still no log in window ! So I called back for a pdf file to be emailed instead. I was told "5 minutes". Half an hour and counting ... ... ... Here's more : Why is it unjust when you refused to accommodate my night shift hours and meet me a little later? You knew I worked from 7pm till 6am, and I couldn't meet you at 10:00. Then you choose to change that to 11:00 because it suited you better, only after I went through major expenses. I had to fly my wife up here from Orange County, last minute, to please your schedule. Refund her airfare and I'll withdraw the Yelp! report, and (bonus!) withhold the complaint with the Attorney Generals' office tomorrow . Deal ? You email threads were barren and your website was falsely advertised as the portal to the e-copy. Further more you never disclosed to me that the report was electronic and defaulted to that method without my acceptance, or consent .... despite customary reports being provided in hard copy. That was done by you just to save you the cost of printing and mailing the report. That was deceptive. Now I'm pissed, I'm wasting time on your incompetence !! CANCELLED ON US LAST MINUTE. UNPROFESSIONAL I called Trevor on Friday to schedule a home inspection on Monday at 1 PM. He said he knew the listing agent of the home very well. Since I live in California, I thought it was helpful that I he is someone who can contact the listing agent to open the door for him to inspect the house. We confirmed the date and time with Trevor on the phone, via test, and email. On Saturday he decided to email us back this: "You will have to find another inspector. I will not be inspecting the home in Rochester." "This is SGA inspection services, we will NOT be inspecting this home for you. Please find another inspector." No further explanation. I even texted him asking why I received these blunt and unprofessional emails even after I already confirmed everything with the agents and the client and Trevor himself. He never texted me back. Trevor, if you're reading this, I don't know what was wrong with you and I don't know what you expect from your client. But as a client, I did not expect that kind of "service" at all. Two of them arrived 15 minutes late and then they spent less than 2 hrs. inspecting my large new house (could not believe it!) Questions discouraged. Feel mislead and that I had gotten a very superficial look see at this home and not a fair inspection. He would not give a partial refund even though there is no crawl space to go through. Looking back I would rather have taken a chance on no inspection at all rather than this. read more

I recently attended SGA's Home Inspector Training and was thoroughly impressed from start to finish. SGA's facility was comfortable and impressed by use of multimedia technology to present course material. Syllabus was in line with national home inspector standards and tailored to passing the WA state inspector test. They nicely balanced coursework and practical inspection content. I enjoyed the small class size that allowed for more than adequate personal attention. The instructors, Steve and Trevor, nicely complemented each other's strengths. I found Steve's wealth of knowledge and willingness to teach invaluable. Trevor, being relatively new to the industry, his experience and thoughts were always insightful and beneficial. I'm not sure if you could find another class where the instructors are as seasoned, caring about the success of their students and thoughtful about the quality of course they teach. I have no reservations about recommending SGA's course to any prospective student. Without attending this course I highly doubt I would have been as prepared to successfully pass the state exam let alone felt as confident to start my own inspecting business. I'm a licensed home inspector in Oregon that recently completed SGA Inspection Service's two week long course in order to become an inspector in Washington state. I signed up for the course in order to simply satisfy the state's educational requirements, but was pleasantly surprised with the overall experience. I was able to leverage my previous experience as a home inspector with Steven and Treavor's coursework (as InterNACHI partners) and building experience in order to make me an even better inspector. As a first time home buyer, my husband and I were unsure of what the process was like and what to look for in a home. Steven and Trevor were absolutely wonderful with us and quickly calmed any nerves that we had walking into this inspection. They walked the property with us explaining what they were doing and what they found during their inspection. They found a major problem with the foundation that was not noted in a previous inspection that we had obtained. They explained what could have caused this major issue and what corrective steps would be necessary to fix the issue. Because of their thorough inspection we opted out of the contract due to the extensive damage. We plan on using them for our next home inspection. We recommend them hands down to everyone. The level of professionalism, punctuality, extensive knowledge of homes, and their patience they have for answering an insane amount of questions is wonderful. Their prices are extremely reasonable, especially for the level of work that they do, and the turnaround time for getting our full color inspection report back was within 24 hrs.
