No…read more I was sent an email, (2) days before class started that my classes were cancelled due to "no instructor" Which meant, I was very limited to my resources considering that fall semester was just a few days away. Luckily, I was able to reserve a spot in which there was room for +1 more student at Centralia College. Otherwise I'd probably been much more upset than I already was. There shall be better communication especially for students who pay tuition/ expect to succeed and earn knowledge!

SPSCC's environment is fantastic if you are a young student coming out of high school, looking to…read morefurther your education in a style comparable to grade school. However, I would not recommend obtaining higher education at this school if you are an adult student or a veteran. 1. Whether a school is for profit or not for profit, the business of an educational institution is to teach. Students (customers) put faith that teachers and the administration that govern, are going to mentor them in the skills necessary to be successful in and after school. In the two years of attending SPSCC, I've found the culture to be indifferent if not condescending to the student population, without the supplementation of meaningful guidance that translates into being successful both in an educational environment and the world outside of campus. Of which, I honestly believe it boils down to a limited amount of leaders both as teachers and administrators, that simply graduate students without actually fostering and cultivating a person's potential to do great things. 2. Failure to brief or uphold security considerations that protect the well being of students and faculty. In the two years of being a student at SPSCC, I've heard a single brief on the SPSCC standards of dealing with an active shooter, major medical emergency or fire. Often, doors that would otherwise be locked from the outside that risk manage dangerous situations, are propped open by the faculty with trash cans or other classroom objects. Having spent 7 years working security in the Armed Forces, it cannot be stressed enough, this is extremely bad business. 3. Adult students have adult lives. Some have children or significant others that depend on them if the case of an emergency. Teachers have no business "collecting phones". Professionally managing your media device is an unfortunate necessity of the world we live in today. In school that means being courteous by taking calls outside the classroom, having ringers turned off, or reserving responding to texts in cases of emergencies only. Again, teachers have no business "collecting phones"
